Our family group of five loved our week at Sunhillow Farm! The log cabin was so cute and comfortable, well equipped, and nestled in a beautiful setting, surrounded by a blueberry orchard and deer farm. Our hosts Bill and Karen were so friendly and helpful and surprised us with a number of nice treats. We had a wonderful time and can highly recommend Sunhillow Farm.

Our family had an excellent time! The grands loved the deer, having the golf cart to get around the beautiful property, picking blueberries, going on a boat ride and swimming in the canal. Peaceful, relaxing, and overall, a great place to unwind. Of course, Freddie the rooster was the best!
Meeting and visiting with Bill and Karen was great. Wonderful hosts - almost family. Thank you for the wonderful experience and sharing your little piece of heaven on earth!

I booked the Log Cabin for our family of 5 (my husband and our 3 teens [18, 16 & 16]) to celebrate our daughter’s high school graduation. It was even better than advertised and we loved our time there!! We spent 1/2 of a Saturday on the pontoon boat, then fed the deer, picked blueberries, explored the property and made good use of the golf cart. Bill was helpful & attentive. The cabin is well appointed and Acura is. Bring extra toilet paper! Can’t wait to book again

We came to celebrate our son's birthday, and everything about our stay was exceptional! We could not have felt more at home and comfortable in the cabin! Our family of 5 always had something to do while on the property, from feeding the deer (personal favorite), to fishing the ponds, walking the trails, catching frogs and lizards, basketball games and an epic cornhole tournament! We had a nice little thunderstorm during our stay that made for great sleeping in the cabin, and the huge covered patio was great for grilling and enjoying the storm. The sunset cruise in the pontoon boat was the nicest, most relaxing trip down the Pearl River, and the perfect way to end our last day in Louisiana. The owners, Bill and Karen, were the absolute best! We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with them, and the knowledge they both shared. We will definitely be back, and during blueberry season next time!

This was an amazing trip! And we can not wait to go back! My young children had a blast just as much as us adults. Can’t wait to go back this summer and swim!

The cabin was beautiful. The location was close to where we needed to go for our nieces wedding.. the host was exceptional and welcoming. Nice hiking trails, deer farm, and pond for kayaking. Perfect location to unplug and reconnect with family.

This was our fourth time to stay at the farm, and, as always, it was wonderful. The cabin is spotless, the grounds are beautiful, and Bill and Karen are such amazing hosts. They truly made this year’s trip the best we’ve had down here. You can be as involved on the property as you want. Feeding the deer with the provided corn, riding the property with the available-to-rent golf cart, and canoeing or kayaking on the canal are all options you can enjoy. When you’re ready to go out, Abita Springs is a fun, quaint little town about 20 minutes away, where you can get food and drinks at Abita Brew Pub, or an amazing breakfast at Abita Springs Café (it truly is one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had). Covington is the “big city” 30 minutes away, with more restaurants (including a Café du Monde) and grocery stores. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with the friendliest hosts you’ve ever met, you need to come to the farm!

Great place to stay. Was in Abita Springs for the Fall Fest and chose to stay here. Did not spend much time at the house due to a busy schedule but would definitely come back and highly recommend for a getaway.

We enjoyed our long weekend trip! Great place to stop the world for a few days. It was peaceful watching deer while drinking coffee and relaxing outside. We hiked the trails, and used the canoes and kayaks in the late afternoon. Bill & Karen are very responsive to their guests. We are already discussing a return trip.

What a wonderful experience! I wanted to give my grandkids, ages 15 and 12, a little get away before starting school. They had an absolute blast, feeding the deer, playing cornhole, basketball, swimming in the beautiful lake and exploring the area. My husband, who is physically challenged was perfectly comfortable. The lift reclining chair was perfect for him. Owners/Hosts Bill and Karen made us feel like family. It was an experience filled with excitement, love and connection. This place is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back next summer. My granddaughter insists on it!!! Thank you so much Bill and Karen for your hospitality!

We had a wonderful girls weekend!!! We were able to visit and enjoy nature. We floated all day at the swimming area and just had a wonderful time! We never left the property!

Bill and Karen were great hosts. They have an amazing property that is well appointed for any stay. My children fed the deer and loved the interaction with Karen while she was bottle feeding a fawn. Unfortunately we missed the blueberries, but we were gifted and amazing pineapple- blueberry dessert with wine! It was terrific. We were completely satisfied with our stay and I would highly recommend this property for a low key relaxing stay. However if you choose it is only a short drive to New Orleans or Baton Rouge. My advice though if you come during summer be prepared for the insects as they are there.

Well... what can I say! This is the 3rd time we stay here. That should tell you everything. We bring our son and his wife and our grandchildren. They absolutely love it. Swimming in the lake is our favorite and also feeding the deer. Bill and Karen are exceptional host. Thank yall for sharing such a beautiful place with everyone! We are blessed to have the opportunity to spend time at your beautiful property. My grandchildren have great memories of your place especially going in the deer pen and helping to feed the deer!!!!!
Thanks again! Sincerely A.R.

Everyone really enjoyed our time in this natural setting. Loved the lake, the trees, deer, bunnies and the blueberries. It was so relaxing walking through the orchards of grapes and citrus too. We saw a two week old fawn. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Loved the blueberry dessert. We rented the golf cart and the pontoon boat during our stay.

The Magee property is a perfect place for a family with children to get away from the city and into an unplugged cabin setting with many wonderful outdoor activities. The property is large, gated, and safe for you to let the kids run loose. The kids fed the deer, picked blueberries, rode bikes, played basketball, and kayaked to a nearby beach on the canal inlet. Hope to come back. Thank you Karen and Bill.

This place is so unique. I really can’t say enough about it. There is something for everyone. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The host are so hospitable. They made a blueberry dessert for us that was absolutely delicious! The only negative was that the time went by too quick. We will definitely be back. If you’re thinking of booking, my advice is don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed.

Sunhillow farm is such a great place to get away and just relax. The cabin was well stocked, furnished, and clean. The property is absolutely amazing. We enjoyed watching the deer from the cabin and walking over to the blueberry orchard and picking some fresh blueberries. It was great to wake up every morning and see rabbits, hummingbirds, cardinals, and many other wildlife. There are many trails to walk or ride the go cart on. Even our dog enjoyed going ride the trails. The trails are well maintained and easy to use. The beach/pavilion area is a great relaxing spot. We especially enjoyed the fishing pond with the canoe. There were some good spots to catch fish. There is something to do for every age group here! The hosts are some of the best. From the very beginning Mr. Bill was helpful with the booking process. Mr. Bill, Mrs. Karen, and all of their family are so nice and welcoming. Mr. Bill took the time to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. It was nice hearing a little background on the deer and how the deer farm works. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to have a peaceful getaway in nature with some wonderful hosts!

It is exactly as described, a log cabin on the Pearl River Canal. Hiking trails, deer pens where you can feed the deer. Birds and wildlife throughout the property. Well maintained trails, beautiful scenery. We did have some plans in New Orleans that took us away, but we were always chomping at the bit to get back. Bill and Karen are great hosts, THE BLUEBERRY dessert was amazing that they prepared, and we loved the bottle of wine(but could only consume half before we left). Highly recommend this place if you are looking for seclusion and nature. Great towns nearby in Abita Springs and Covington. The pontoon boat on the canal was an absolute highlight. Herons, Egrets, Turkeys and armadillos. Filled with nature. We are looking forward to coming back with more family and renting the Tiny Cabin as well.

This property was exactly what we needed. Adults needed to get away from city and our animal loving 10YO boy was so happy to see deers right next to the log house. Everyday he visited those cute deers and hand-fed some of them. Such a delight. We used their kayak and canoe, we rented their pontoon, used a fire pit, checked out nature trails, we saw many kinds of birds from dining room window, just so peaceful.
The only thing we wished different was that we rented Tesla. Nothing wrong with the car, nor the property of course, but the fact that a closest charging spot was 20-25 minutes away made our trip a bit tricky because we had to plan our day around where to charge. So if you are renting a car, consider not to go electric.
Karen and Bill were super nice from arriving to the end. Great treat to have fresh eggs every morning!
We had a great time and recommend this place to everybody.

We had a great time! The cabin was adorable and being able to see the deer every morning and evening was awesome! We had fun fishing and riding/walking the numerous trails along the lakes. Great place to relax!

Probably the finest place to stay in the east of New Orleans area. It seems a bit out of the way, but was perfect for us visiting family in the area and only 1 hour from NOLA airport. The house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and the hosts couldn't have been nicer. Staying longer is the only thing that would have improved our visit. Then we would have had time to take the canoes out on the river. Enjoying the seasonal fruit from right outside the door was a real bonus.

I can't say enough about this property - it was the perfect vacation spot! The cabin is extremely nice, there is no roughing it at this place! A well-stocked modern kitchen, great wi-fi, big tv, deluxe bathrooms (master has a double-headed shower!), it was everything you could possibly want. The outside property is to die for. If you like the outdoors, this place is for you. Seriously, we could have spent the whole week just hanging out there. There are miles of well maintained trails you can walk, the kayaks and canoes are always there for whenever you want them, the kids fed the deer every morning, and went fishing. We came in the fall so the water wasn't warm enough to swim, but we enjoyed our boat rides - even saw some alligators sunning themselves! If you do want to venture off the property, we found it to be an idea spot cause you're an easy drive to lots of great activities. An hour away are the beaches at Pass Christian, an hour in the other direction is New Orleans, insta-gator ranch is just 20 minutes away and the kids loved that! But honestly what made it all so perfect was our hosts. Bill and Karen strike that perfect balance of being available without being intrusive. They are very laid back and truly make you feel like their home is your home while you stay. We are already talking about when we will go back! The only warning I would give to potential guests, is about the stairs which other guests and the hosts have also commented on. It wasn't an issue for us, but if I still had very small children - toddler age - I would have been so stressed trying to keep them from climbling them. But as long as your child is old enough to understand they can't go on the stairs without an adult, then you'll be fine.

The place was comfortable, clean, well stocked, remote and nature-y. The host was very friendly and personable. The only thing I would suggest is easier access around the lakes/ponds (perhaps a pier) where fishing from the banks could be easier. We loved taking the golf cart out exploring and kayaks.

This was our third stay at Sunhillow Farm, and it certainly won’t be our last. Bill and Karen’s hospitality is unmatched. It’s the perfect peaceful getaway that’s far from town, yet close enough that if you wanted to make the trip into New Orleans it would only take an hour or so. We loved exploring Abita Springs this trip, which is only about 20 minutes away. If a relaxing, peaceful getaway is what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with this beautiful place.

Beautiful property to spend a calm weekend away from New Orleans
Our family had a wonderful time picking blueberries and exploring the wooded paths in the "golf cart". We had fun canoeing and cooking smores on the firepit, such a fun relaxing weekend!

Wonderful Place to stay!
My family and I enjoyed our stay so much! We did not want to leave and hope to return in the future. The property was beautiful. We enjoyed the hanging out with the deer, picking blueberries, kayaking/canoeing, and playing at the beach.
The cabin was very comfortable. The set up worked very well for my family. We spent a lot of time on the covered patio watching the deer and playing games. It was a wonderful visit!

It’s our 2nd stay here because it’s so nice! And we plan on staying again. My family and I really like the whole package…the hosts are so welcoming and friendly, all the activities for our grandchildren, son and daughter-in-law and the property is so nice and perfectly maintained. You can see all the hard work they put into it. There is so much to do. What a great family vacation! I appreciate nature and they have it all. Kayaking, fishing, blueberry picking, swimming in the lake, deer and bats! And much more. Thank you Bill and Karen for showing my grandchildren the bats in the shed. They were amazed! Lol! We will definitely be back! Thanks Bill and Karen for everything!!!

We had a blast here! There was so much to do which was perfect for our two busy boys (ages 4 and 6). We fished with some crickets the boys caught, and actually caught a catfish. Poles provided! Went canoeing in the morning time, and then swam and played in the water near the “beach”. The kids especially enjoyed that area because they were also able to catch little fish in the water with a net. The blueberries were in season and sooo plump and delicious! The deer happily ate out of our hands and there were even baby fawn to see. The cabin was more than comfortable with three bedrooms and a nice master shower! The fenced in backyard was perfect for our dog that joined the fun. I’d highly recommend this place! We really had a blast and will certainly be back.
