Llandrinio Hall was built in 1682 during the reign of Charles II. It has a well-documented history as an important Montgomeryshire house that was the centre of a large estate throughout the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. During that time its ownership passed through just three families, but they boasted amongst their numbers the nephew of the Bishop of St Asaph, four high sheriffs of Montgomery and various relatives of the great parliamentarian Sir Robert Peel.
The hall is approached via an impressive avenue of lime trees and stands against the backdrop of the Breidden Hills. Many of its original features have been retained, including two oak Carolean (ie dating from the reign of Charles ll) staircases and a wealth of oak timbers and polished oak floors. Having been recently (2007) fully renovated, nowadays the spacious rooms strike a balance between their fine original features and more modern comforts.
With regard to your stay, we try to think of everything: feather and down duvets and pillows, because they’re the softest and the nicest (yet man-made available for allergy-sufferers); feather and down mattress toppers, to make comfy beds just … even more comfy; there's an Emperor-sized (7'x7') four-poster bed to enjoy; there is entertainment in the form of books and DVDs/Blu-rays scattered around, that have been thought about (England/Wales/Countryside/Manor House-focussed); floors are original; there are always rugs; there is always plentiful hot water; heating is always efficient; kitchen equipment is extensive; cutlery and crockery is elegant; and there is nothing that might aesthetically offend.

OUR RENTAL GUEST COMMENTS:
We had the most fantastic Christmas in Llandrinio Hall with all our family, it couldn't have been better. The Hall suited our needs perfectly and all agreed we had just the best time. You asked in your e-mail for any suggestions or comments, but honestly we couldn't fault it. The linen and the towels were all good, the kitchen very well equipped. The big bonus was the great walk in shower, which is so efficient and made shower time, along with the other 2 bathrooms a very speedy process for 15 people. We really did have the best time in your lovely home, it was just so welcoming with all the lovely Christmas touches you had put in place and the tree looked so pretty. With very best regards,Valerie Will and Family
We had a lovely time at Llandrinio Hall. The house was perfect. It easily accommodated our whole party with plenty of space for us to relax and enjoy our weekend break. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out in the garden in the afternoon, watching the sunsets (even in October it was warm enough!) and sitting by the fire in the evening in the lounge. Our favourite room was by far the kitchen: this is the first time that we have stayed anywhere that has been able to fit our entire group around a table; perfect! The house was easy to find but also secluded enough we did not feel overlooked. We will definitely check out your other properties for our next trip. We would highly recommended a stay at Llandrinio hall for any large group. We felt as though we were staying in a National Trust stately home property; it was truly stunning! Hopefully we will return for another reunion next year. Rebecca Welsh
We had an absolutely wonderful time. What a fabulous house for my 50th birthday party! It was truly such a special place to be - a fantastic fun-filled house to party in. There were 14 of us, all adults - music lovers, art lovers, film lovers, food lovers - and we could not have been in a better place! Very best wishes, Sue Richardson
Many thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home! And particular thanks to your children for sharing their many lovely toys and books with our children. My favourite things were: the tree lined drive; the view to Rodney's pillar; the wide old floorboards; the attic rooms; the piano; the heating! My children were very reluctant to leave and we are all hoping to stay again. Sarah Rusbridge
We had a great time, the house was perfect for us. Particular bonuses were: garden, toys, books and DVDs for the children (things to keep them entertained is the key to a relaxing holiday!); the well equipped kitchen allowed for proper comfortable cooking, and the place had a very relaxed feel in general - which helped allow us to relax. Nice to be surrounded by lots of lovely books, including the cookbooks. My wife and I couldn't think of any suggestions for improvement! Sudip Nandy
We just loved our stay at Llandrinio Hall. It is just perfect for a family get-together and we were sad to leave. Relaxing in the garden each morning with a cup of coffee was been a joy. We have had our own mini-Olympics, with table tennis, trampolining and badminton. Alison Fletcher & Family
We had the most marvellous time at Llandrinio Hall. My friends and I often book large holiday homes and without a doubt this was the most lovely. We were blessed with very fine weather, which meant that we were able to take full advantage of your beautiful gardens and we were able to stay outside on a couple of evenings until at least 10pm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and we spent most of our indoor time in the hall and kitchen, simply enjoying each others company and laughing to an enormous degree! One of my friends organised a 'treasure hunt' around the house and garden, which helped draw our attention to parts of the building and decoration which we may not have noticed on our, too brief, stay with you - which was huge fun. Everyone would love to spend more time in your part of the world. Sarah Ley
What can I say, other than 'Wow?!' The Hall is stunning - you have created a real home-from-home for your guests and each and everyone of us were thrilled with everything! I particularly liked the vine-shaded conservatory that opens onto the lawned rear gardens, with rose borders and formal yew hedging. Other garden features we appreciated were: the family-sized trampoline and BBQ. With stunning uninterrupted views of the Breidden Hills, it really is the perfect place to relax, unwind and/or to entertain guests. Brian Priest
We had a wonderful weekend. Your house gave us the space and facilities for four couples and a selection of our children to have an enjoyable and relaxing time. The meal that Alec and Veronica provided on Saturday night was delicious. The golf at Welshpool and Oswestry was enjoyed. The children enjoyed all that the house and garden offered and were reluctant to go out. Overall, we all agreed that Llandrinio Hall had suited us far better than the alternative of a hotel and we are trying to think of an excuse to do it again. Ann Saunders & family

Had a week with extended family, 16 in all ranging from 3months to 70. Lots of downstairs rooms so we could really spread out, a large, really well equipped kitchen and a large conservatory for eating meant that the place suited us really well. Big, safe garden and room to eat outdoors also a real bonus

16 family members enjoyed a weekend at Llandrinio Hall celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed an Indian takeaway the first night, and a home cooked grand feast the second. The kitchen was very well equipped. Rooms were fabulously eclectic and charismatic, the house stuffed with interesting objects and art work. The awesome sound system deserves a special mention, and the roomy wet room with power shower. The gardens were immaculate and beautiful. Lots of wildlife too. Our hosts were helpful, patient, responsive and flexible. The locals in the pub were friendly and welcoming. A really great choice for a large family gathering.

I celebrated my 50th birthday here with my large family and we really enjoyed the staycation , there was something for everyone. Full of character the gorgeous venue was well maintained, spacious, well lit, clean, with central heating and constant hot water. There were large double bedrooms on the first floor and smaller double bedrooms above with a foosball table, ( more fun for kids although some adults slept here). A twin bunk bed on the first floor was used by smaller adults. One guest, a keen cook fell in love with the fully equipped kitchen so he offered to make the breakfasts, and a lavish dinner one night , rating the kitchen 100%! The icemaker was ace. The huge garden/ grounds featured a spectacular view of the hills and Rodney's Pillar. The ground trampoline, giant chess, table tennis and the cinema room were a hit with the kids and adults alike! The wetroom was popular as were the billiard room, (lots of fun till the early hours)! Plenty of things to keep you busy indoors if poor weather, including listening to music on the surround sound system. A Texaco ( Costa) service station , a minute drive away ( or a good 10 minute walk) and the Tesco's in Welshpool, a 10 minute drive away came in handy. Blessed with beautiful weather we visited local recommended places and a great Indian restaurant The lovely housekeeper, Jen maintained good communication throughout our stay which was well appreciated. Wished we stay longer as there was never a dull moment!

We stayed at Llandrinio Hall for a weekend to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We were a multi-generational group of 11 - grandparents, siblings and partners, 3 children aged 5 - 9 - the Hall worked very well for our needs, with plenty of room for us all to come together as well as to have our own spaces. We didn't leave the Hall much, as we were there for a relatively short time and the weather was chilly - but we enjoyed chess in the beautiful gardens and the kids had a great time running around outside! Highlights included the lovely kitchen - much more spacious than the photos suggest and perfect for preparing and enjoying a big breakfast and buffet dinner - and the billiard room! The Hall was beautifully decorated for Christmas, really cosy and a special place to spend a memorable weekend. We'd love to return in the warmer months for a longer stay to enjoy the gardens even more.

Wonderful building full of character! Lovely settings, celebrated 50th with a group of 16 and the house was a perfect size! Would highly recommend

Lovely peaceful breakaway just what the family needed, property was well equipped, only thing for the price would have thought basic items would have been included not having to worry about replacing them before we left.

Enough space for 12 to get together for weekend. Lucky to have good weather in October to sit outside in garden which is lovely. This is an older property so sloping roofs and creaking floorboards to be expected and limited bathroom facilities for a large group but we managed.
Good area which is central for many activities and towns. Warm welcome received at The Admiral pub when we were unable to climb Rodneys Pillar as it was closed due to a shoot.

We stayed at Llandrinio Hall for my partners 60th birthday with the family ranging in age from 2-60. The house was perfect for enjoying some much needed family time whilst being able to have such fun. The kids loved all the garden games the big kids loved the snooker table. The sound system around the house was fab and made the whole weekend have a party vibe when we needed it. We had about shopping delivered from Asda and had no problem cooking in the well equipped kitchen and On the BBQ. The beds were so comfy and large which is just what you need at the end of long fun filled days. We didn’t leave the hall all weekend and didn’t get bored once there was so much to do and investigate. I loved the piano and the music available to play we even taught the kids to play Happy birthday for the big day. I can’t praise the house enough for how homely it felt and the standard received and achieved throughout from the cleaning, the helpfulness of all the team from booking through to leaving which allowed us the simple pleasure of spending time as a large family together. We will certainly book again and would love to come for Christmas and new year.

Sue, the housekeeper was there to greet me when I arrived , she was very helpful. The space is fantastic, especially for our older grandchildren 5, 4 and 3. They were just busy having fun, we didn’t see them for hours, playing in the playroom, while the men were in their playroom...... snooker!
The local pub, The Punchbowl is walkable 5 minutes away, we had a very good curry there and the beer’s great.
We had a magical Christmas.

The house was full of interesting stuff to look at, showing owners history, we had 4 generations staying for the weekend and everyone enjoyed the house which is kitted out with everything you can think of, looking for a reason to book again next year.

Enjoyable stay for family get together. Great communal areas and lots of activities for all ages. Snooker was a great hit with all. Good walk up to Rodneys Pillar and good day out at Powis Castle and deer Park.

We stayed here as a party of 14 for my Grandads 90th. The house was gorgeous with plenty of space. We were very lucky with the weather and able to spend the whole of Saturday in the garden.
From the photos I don’t think the photo of the kitchen does it justice. It’s really big and has another large table with an American style fridge freezer.
The only thing that lets it down slightly is the bedroom arrangement. There were twin beds with a curtain on the top floor with another double bed up there too. We managed due to the people that were there but if there were couples this at have not worked. Also, it is a shame the table football is tucked away up there as it would have been great to all take advantage of that too.
That aside, the house is beautiful and in a great location. Would highly recommend!

We have just enjoyed our second visit to Llandrinio Hall, for our annual family weekend & had a really wonderful time. The Hall combines the spectacular with the homely and we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. It was such fun choosing who slept where as all the bedrooms were different. There was all that we needed in the vast kitchen but again we felt really relaxed with the delightful mixture of crockery & plentiful supply of utensils. It was such fun to enjoy the beautiful garden which provided opportunities for endless games and was well supplied with bats, balls & a giant chess set. And this year there was the welcome addition of a trampoline! We very much hope to revisit Llandrinio Hall and make more memories - this year’s highlights were a Sunday Service (singing accompanied on the grand piano), watching the Cricket World Cup & Wimbledon Finals, Round the Table (our favourite table tennis game) & our annual hike up to Rodney’s Pillar. Thank you

I spent a long weekend with 8 close friends to celebrate my 40th and this place was such a special place to do that. From the location, to the tree lined drive, this Manor House is absolutely gorgeous. Each room has such character...from the sitting room to the massive kitchen, and the walk-in shower room. It would be amazing for children too who would spend hours discovering the outdoors and would have such fun sleeping in the quirky bedrooms. It was so well equipped with towels in each room and lots of ice in the freezer!
We made so many memories there and we all fell in love with the place. So thank you Jonathon for finding this gem and letting strangers enjoy a little piece of heaven in Wales. We will definitely return one day.

We had a FANTASTIC time at Llandrinio Hall - it's an absolutely superb place!
The garden and surrounding landscape was beautiful; the kitchen well equipped and huge; the surround sound amazing; the rooms spotlessly clean; the cinema room awesome; the walk in wet room was just out of this world! I could go on...
Really, it was just faultless. Jonathan was very friendly and helpful during the booking process and the housekeeper, Sue, was absolutely lovely!
I would definitely return - and in fact, very much hope to do so!

We’ve just returned from a fabulous long weekend with family and friends at Llandrinio Hall. Elegant and grand with a welcoming atmosphere, the hall is a simply stunning child friendly property providing a huge range of facilities and activities for all ages. Monumental bedrooms, comfortable receptions, a dedicated shower room (which felt more like a trip to the beach), giant kitchen, cinema room, table tennis room and snooker room with a full sized table – it’s not your everyday living experience. And outside is pretty special too! An absolutely beautiful garden with stunning views everywhere you look. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Will most definitely return.

What a great house. With a snooker table, table tennis, two pianos and a trampoline and huge garden for the kids (not to mention all the toys), you simply don't need to leave. There's also a telly and plenty of DVDs for rainy days.
Bedrooms are huge, plus the wet-room shower is the best shower I've ever used.

We had the best holiday at Llandrinio Hall. To stay in such a beautiful, grand Hall was a dream come true. The combination of a historical home with all of the modern benefits was a real winner with my family.
The spacious, well-kitted kitchen enabled our extended family to show off their culinary skills and eat together around the impressive table. The high tech cinema room was a family favourite, especially at the end of the day when we just wanted to put on a DVD and relax.
The children especially enjoyed the snooker room, table tennis, trampoline and sports equipment. It was great to sit out in the beautiful garden with a glass of wine, admiring the magnificent view and watching them play, whilst the more active adults joined in. There was much laughter!
The musical members of our family loved the opportunity to play the grand piano which lent itself well to a good sing-song later in the evening. The amazing Bose sound system meant that we could have music and radio in any room we wanted - much to everyone's delight.
The large, well-furnished bedrooms; the tastefully-decorated bathrooms, and the magnificent shower room made the living arrangements at the Hall very comfortable indeed.
The location of the Hall was ideal too. We enjoyed the closeness of Shrewsbury with its interesting shops, restaurants and cinemas, whilst also being able to enjoy the countryside with its local farm shops and many outdoor pursuits activities close-by.
We had a wonderful time - it was an excellent place for our family to enjoy time together. We will definitely be coming back.
