This was our third visit to the property, but this was the first 4-night stay that we booked and organized for the occasion of my 50th birthday. We rented both sides of the property (bungalows and main guest house) for 36 friends and family.
The process of booking and working with the team for meals and activities was seamless. Because we had so many guests, it was comforting to know that we had someone working with us to plan this event. We love it here. It’s familiar, calming and secluded, but not too far away from many restaurant and activity options.
The new pool and indoor dining/kitchen area is an excellent addition to the property. However, it was a disappointment that the other pool and corresponding lofted patio were under construction and somewhat neglected due to the new area being open. We were happy to discover that the pool was still open and functioning, but the kitchen and patio was not usable by our large group of 36. The surprise did not diminish the fun, but it was an unwelcome discovery.
Needless to say, we hope to be back. We’ve celebrated birthdays and a wedding here, so it’s a place that is very special to us. Thank you for your care and commitment to providing visitors with a wonderful place to escape!

Manfred and his team are so helpful and kind. They made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The recommendations were all great and the chef services were perfecto!. Anything that we needed was accessible right to the property. We could have stayed on the property the entire trip and we would have been comfortable and completely taken care of. The property is beautiful and the beach is amazing, with a surf break, sunsets and lightning storms to view from the second story spaces. Rainy season was enjoyable at Casa Guayacan. We hope to return someday.

One of our favorite aspects was taking advantage of Alcira and her staff for cooking our meals. We had 7 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 7 dinners. All were delicious and special. We felt so pampered.
Alcira and Mariella were like family!
Staff were so attentive in cleaning every morning, and we had them do our laundry several times.
The property is a bit rustic, but we were aware of this and were fine with it. (You will likely share your space with crabs and geckos. ) Owner, Manfred was immediately responsive via onsite staff for any questions, repairs, etc.
Close by shops and restaurants available in Tamarindo via the water taxis (daylight hours).
Walk up the beach to a nearby market and cafe in the Palm Beach neighborhood.
Mandred hooked us up with Playa Grande Shuttles and Tours for airport transport and for many great excursions. We didn’t rent a car at all.

Absolutely gorgeous location! Beach feels almost private with great waves for surfing and boarding. House is great for big groups, staff is very supportive and responds quickly to all needs! Estuary is short walk and boat rides to Tamarindo are super easy! Living space is open air so it is warm but the bedrooms stay very cool and comfortable! Pool is awesome and grounds are well kept. Highly recommend this house!

Our group has been visiting this property for 2 years, and it's a great fit for us! It's magical and right on the water. The communication with the owners is outstanding, and they work hard to accommodate us!

A perfect location for a family vacation! We were a family if 9 adults and 9 children ages 3 to 13. We all loved the beach enjoying the shell hunting and playing in the waves. The sunsets were spectacular! The pool is large with plenty of room to play. We had breakfast and dinner prepared by Alcira and team. The food was great and so graciously prepared.

Nice quiet area close to Tamarindo via water taxi. The house is large and well spaced out for a large group. Some small repairs and paint is needed in some rooms as well as some new sheets for beds. Blankets would have been nice as several of us got cold at night but we just learned to adjust the AC when we went to bed. Owner provides hand soap at sinks and a bar soap for showers so bring shampoo and conditioner. There is no iron or hairdryers. Stand alone fans would have been nice in the common areas as it does get hot inside. There is a TV that our teens used to hookup their video games. Onsite staff is wonderful and very accomodating. Brought us clean towels, washed our laundry for a small fee and were even willing to go grocery shopping for us. Cook was amazing. We had breakfast every morning, a few dinners and she even cooked the fish we caught while sports fishing. Owner was very responsive when we had questions. There are 4 restaurant/bars in Playa Grande that are 15-20min walking distance from house. All were great. In addition, there were also inexpensive surf lessons and yoga classes in this same area. Ask about them at the hostel. A 40min walk along the beach will take you to the heart of Playa Grande where there's more bars/restaurants and breweries. Do take advantage of the shuttle/tour company the owner recommends. We used them a lot and the vans, drivers, and tours were all fantastic -always arriving on time with a cooler full of beer, water and other drinks.

We spent a week here with our family and one other, a total of ten people (six kids) but the property could easily have accommodated double. Here are the pros and cons you should know:
Pros:
Great location right on a basically private beach that’s walking distance to Tamarindo
The team is extraordinary and so responsive and will take care of all your needs. We signed up for full-day chef and kitchen services with Alcira which I highly recommend
When we had issues they were resolved quickly
Playa grande is a quaint little town with some sweet restaurants and shops
Cons:
Common areas don’t have AC in this house which essentially rendered them unusable for us
The fridge was broken the first two days and while it was replaced this was not fun
The water was turned off on the last day for 3 hours — apparently this is something that happens but it caught us off guard
The pool is in front of the house and somewhat separate from the common areas and had a beehive in the portico which made it tough for us to use
There are raccoons at night so it was challenging for our kids to get upstairs to their rooms since the staircase is on the outside of the house
Getting to playa grande shops is a 15 min drive and to Tamarindo is 45 min (even though it’s a 10 min walk).
Despite the cons, the house and staff are lovely and the beach is stellar. If they put AC in the common areas that alone would have made it a 5 star house despite the other challenges we had.

We have stayed in Palm beach for years we love that neighborhood. This home was everything we needed. It fit 3 families perfectly and private for everyone. The pool and outdoor area is perfect. The pool is huge and the landscape around it is gorgeous. The nice big table outdoors was perfect for big gatherings. We had a chef come and cook for us all and it was perfect. The whole compound would be fun to rent with all our friends. We will be back.

We brought 28 people to stay for fun and play and boy did this property not disappoint! We rented out both parts of the property- double the fun. The property was well kept, communication on WhatsApp with house manager and staff was seamless. The beach is private with little traffic, the softest sand and great waves to catch. The pools were fantastic and the houses and bungalows were perfect for our guests. Would stay at this location again.

This is our second time at this amazing and beautiful property! We had 27 family members that enjoyed all of the bungalows and the beach house. I love where this property is located. Short walk to Tamarindo via the estuary crossing, and the quiet, tranquil beach life on Playa grande. The amazing and surprising thing we experienced this year is the new building on the south end of the property. A nice gorgeous pool setting and a central dining location with a yoga deck on top. Brand new! And we used it every day. So much fun! The communication with Manfred has always been very prompt, professional, and helpful. We always felt very safe and all our needs were met. If you want an authentic Costa Rica vibe to your vacation, book this place! I hope and wish that we will return.

The location and amenities were more than perfect for our wedding weekend, and everyone at the facility was incredibly helpful with little details such as water and electricity. Cabo Velas was truly a magical place for our big day! It was the perfect spot to show our family from the US what authentic Costa Rica is really like! No tourists crowding, no resorts - just beautiful nature and calm/secluded cabins and house!

We loved our time at casa guayacan. The concierge was wonderful and helped us coordinate everything we needed with the personal chef (who we also loved) - and all staff was friendly and responsive. The place itself felt so private and the pool and space around it incredibly relaxing and safe, which was important with two kids under 3. Would definitely return!

My organization puts on cancer survivor retreats, and we decided to try Casa Guyacuan. It worked so well for our group! What a tranquil, quite, sizable place. The staff was there for anything we needed, and we felt very taken care of. We will continue using this location!

Lovely stay at this expansive property. Great communication from host, especially as we planned the details of our elopement. Our others guests were stunned with the beauty and privacy of the property. Chef services and on site staff were professional and Friendly. Highly recommend.

We had 27 members of our family stay for the week. The location was amazing on a secluded beach and close to town. Accommodations were comfortable. We had the cooks fix a few of our meals when we weren't out on adventures. A great place.

This was much better than expected and everything was so easy. Would come back in a heartbeat and thank you to the host and his team for making it an unforgettable trip.

I rented this space to host a surf retreat. The location is perfect, steps away from a great surf break. The house is spacious, all the rooms are huge and decorated tastefully. The pool are is amazing, and the outdoor deck was great for yoga. I would love to rent this home again. My only constructive feedback is that the kitchen stove and oven is very old and slow. It is not convection as advertised. And I did notice some damage in the walls from humidity that need to be fixed, regularly i'm sure. Other than that, what a perfect place for my group and I. The staff on property was also very friendly and attentive.

Our second time back to the property. We love this beach- its perfect for adults with a beginner surf break and kids to run around and boogie board. The sunsets were incredible. We hired cook for meal- Vero and Rosa- we loved them and everything they prepared for us. This is a special place!!!

We rented both properties for a family reunion of 28 with ages ranging from 70 to 9 months. Between the main house and the bungalow we were perfectly taken care of. The house was beautiful with king beds and an additional twin in each corner room and two twins in the two center rooms upstairs. All of the beds were comfortable. The view from the lounge was incredible. The pool is perfect, with shade covering at least some area at all times and a shallow area to sit or for the little ones to play.
The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, responding almost immediately to any questions or requests for help. The cooking was out of this world. We had a lot of dietary restrictions with allergies, vegans, a vegetarian, and one very picky eater. The staff made meals accommodating all of our requests and even added meals on a moment’s notice when we requested them.
The beach is steps from the house, sandy, and quiet. Although you can easily get to Tamarindo by boat or to Playa Grande by walking 10 minutes down the beach (look for a yellow sign just past the palm trees) we found we rarely wanted to leave.
The only area with AC is the bedrooms and as we were there when it was uncharacteristically warm it was a little hard to get out of the heat. Having some additional fans would have been a game changer so we could bring them to the second story lounge or in the main house to play games or just take a break. Otherwise we had no complaints!

An amazing property for large groups in Palm Beach estates. Manfred and Ana are great hosts, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back.

We rented out the whole property at Las Velas Blancas (the casitas and the big house) for a yoga retreat and had an amazing stay! We were a group of 18 and had more than enough room for people to hang out together, or find quiet time when they wanted. We loved the outdoor yoga loft - the ocean breezes were divine! The beach and pool were terrific and the location of the property is great - easy to get to Tamarindo and into the subdivision, but far enough away to have privacy and be in your own little world.
The owners, Ana and Manfred, were very easy to communicate with and have thought of everything with this property and in dealing with their guests.
The caretakers of the property - Pedro and Rosa Maria were wonderful. They were kind and took great care of us - which was not easy with such a big group. They were quick to answer and questions and requests, and always with kindness and a smile.
We also had Veronica prepare many of the meals of our group, and highly recommend her! She prepared a variety of meals for us - traditional, vegetarian, dairy and gluten free - and all of were happy and full guests.
All in all a fantastic stay and will definitely return! Highly recommend!

Outstanding experience
This property is one of a kind totally private, gorgeous grounds, made for rest with lots of variety between pool, lounges, hammocks and a shady pool. The surf is booming right outside the windows, and is almost private with huge swath of beachfront and just amazing waves and warm water. The cooks and staff are responsive and almost invisible. There’s everything you need to be comfortable and have a great vacation, what a special place!

Awesome Property
This property is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. We rented the house and some cabins so we had exclusive use. We loved the open air living though we needed bug spray. Each bedroom faced the ocean and had their own bathrooms and air conditioning units. The beds were very comfortable.
The pool is awesome. Some guests do not like sitting in the sun and the shallow end with the cabana was perfect. They were very happy. Many guests enjoyed a nap on the hammocks. I especially loved the lounge area where I could rest comfortably , read and watch the ocean.
Our host was very communicative with any inquiries and I would highly recommend this property.

Wedding Week!
We hosted our wedding and stayed with family/friends at Las Velas Blancas. We had a fantastic stay. The layout of the property provides privacy but also great areas to hang as a group. The location is awesome and panga boats allow the group to get into Tamarindo easily. We had a yoga class and massages at the house. The chef services (Alcira) were fantastic. Highly recommend! Everyone at the property (Kahina, Pedro, Manfred) are very, very helpful. We were able to accommodate for a wide variety of people and age groups at this property. We will be back in the future!

Amazing location and space
Our group of 17 just returned from a fabulous week at Las Velas Blancas. We could not have asked for a better location or space. The house is wonderfully situated right on quiet section of the beach, and a 5 minute walk to the $2 ferry to Tamarindo. The break was perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers- Frijoles Locos sent their surf instructor right to our house for the lessons. Amazing sunsets while sitting on the "lido deck" or sitting on the beach- There was an amazing amount of space for the families to spread out.
Manfred was available night and day and made the stay perfect. I would definitely suggest a car to explore the area, as the house is fairly secluded.
We highly recommend Las Velas Blancas!!!

Best place around! Has put Costa Rica on our list to revisit!
The property was clean, quiet, and well cared for. The staff does a wonderful job of keeping up with everything. The location of this property could not be better, there is a small river separating you from the beach traffic of tamarindo, the property owner was very accommodating and made sure our stay was as good as it could be. We can not wait to return.

Stunning property
This property has everything a group could want when it comes to vacationing with multiple families. With numerous spaces for living, sleeping and socializing, and simplistic modern and well thought out design, the many buildings and gorgeous pool provide lots of opportunities for time together and apart. A special favourite was the 2nd floor wide open Yoga space with comfy couches to watch morning surfers, or evening sunsets. A fantastically unique space that we all loved.
This is a very private property set away from the village of Playa Grand. It is a bit of a walk to get into town for restaurants and shopping, (10-15 mins of solid walking - road or beach), so a car or some planning help to make that easier. The property is equipped with a catering kitchen and management can easily hook you up with a cook who can make tasty and reasonably priced meals. Or, if you’re a group that likes to cook for themselves, there is a great kitchen in the main house large enough for everyone to help. We found the mix of one meal from the cook, one we cooked ourselves (or fended for ourselves usually with leftovers) and one meal out - down the beach, or across the estuary to Tamarindo worked well.
Hindsight, had we not been travelling semi-post Covid without a clear view of what we might encounter, I would have followed our host and shuttle and excursion company’s advice and planned a little more upfront. Thankfully they were very easy to work with, even without a lot of notice,, and went out of their way to make our stay both comfortable and fun.

Fantastic location, disappointing management.
Original renting thru VRBO was fine.
Sadly, on arrival the only people at the property were workmen who didn’t speak English. The manager was not even nearby and had forgotten to send the welcome email which explained the locks and codes and everything else we needed to know. When contacted he was unhelpful and arrogant.
Also the pictures did not show that the pool is 50 yards walk from the main house.
Otherwise the location and accommodation was first rate.

Playa grande perfection
Our group had a wonderful vacation. Great location for surfing. Less crowded and more mellow of a wave then further north up the beach. The walk to the break is unbeatable, about 30 seconds. Manfred and Ana connected us with shuttle & chef services for the week. The shuttle was convenient and professional. The food was delicious. The house was spacious, and well equipped. Everyone had a nice sized bed and full bathroom. The upstairs living room is really special and where you’ll end up spending your nights. The pool and picnic area area a great space to break up the day, or to meet other travelers. As I’m writing this i wish I was still there. I don’t think you can do playa grande better. Book it already!

Gorgeous Property
This rental was more than we had ever imagined! We held a small Yoga Retreat on the property. The concierge, property managers everybody was so helpful. Our Retreat went flawlessly. The property is very well maintained by the grounds caretaker on a daily basis.. The rooms are air conditioned and very clean.. the pool is wonderful and having the beach so close was a great bonus.. one thing to keep in mind the beach is a National Park , so no activities on the beach after dark no lights or loud noise or groups are allowed to gather on the beach after Sunset something we did not know but quickly figured out and was totally fine .. We were all in love with this property very special place, definitely plan on returning....

Unbelievable in Everyway
I can't adequately describe the experience with this property. It far beyond expected our expectations. The property itself, a well appointed spacious home, to the private bungalows and the location are all amazing. What made it even more special was the interaction and communication with the home manager, Manfred, the concierge Ariel, the chef Alcira (who decorated for my husband's birthday and supplied his favorite cake!), and Pedro who is onsite. They all went above and beyond to make our stay expectional. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had and we look forward to returning.

Private retreat.
What a wonderful location. Gorgeous expansive beach with few other people. Large pool which was great for our eclectic group of 20. Ages 2-74 with 2 pregnant Mom's and worked for everybody. Enough quiet spaces and terrific group spaces. Sunsets are beautiful. Charming small restaurants within walking distance. Slightly funky, slightly primitive, off the beaten path, but very comfortable.
Felt safe and cared for by responsive management.
Considering a repeat in the future.

A perfect hideaway
Although very close to Tamarindo, you will feel like you are in your own natural paradise, with direct access to easy surfing and a great yoga space. The views are amazing and the decor is chill and tasteful. If you want to hit a restaurant once, it's completely doable, but it is a long drive back so know that this is really for those looking to escape the crowds.

Family and friends Vacation
We rented the whole property out for the week and literally had the best time and experience. Manfred ran the whole thing so amazingly it made it so much easier to co-ordinate such a big group!
The property is right in front of an amazing surf break and near great cafes for food!
The on-site cook made fantastic dinners for our group and we were super happy with everything!
It really is an amazing property in my mind the best location!!
Thank you Manfred!!!

Rustic charmer with breath taking views!! Perfect place for rest, relaxation and a warm breeze!
This property has the Costa Rican rustic charm we were looking for. Enjoyable open air two story sitting area with views over looking the beach and pool area. Beach is expansive and beautiful with perfect waves for our beginner surfers. Manfred the owner helped us with anything we needed!! He always went above an beyond to give us an enjoyable experience.
We all enjoyed Isolda’s cooking, and preferred it to our meals we had eaten in Tamarindo.
If you are looking for a perfect family vacation with room for a large group, this is exactly what you are looking for. We hope to return someday soon..😎
This place is a true gem!!
