About this cottage rental
This charming holiday home is set in the Courtyard of Wick Farm down a small lane off a minor road. It is delightfully quiet and secluded and yet within a few minutes of the small town of Tisbury which has shops and a railway station which has regular services to London, Waterloo. All the main rooms have views across the unspoilt Nadder valley. Tisbury is a great centre for walking and for exploring Dorset. The historic cities of Salisbury and Bath as well as Wilton are easily reached for days out and it is just over an hour by car to the stunning Dorset coast.
The original stone arched door and windows are complemented by hardwood windows and maple floors throughout. The cottage is light and airy with an open plan downstairs and open tread stairs to the first floor. The newly fitted kitchen, double glazing and electric heating make this a great location for year round holidays for families or two couples.
The stables look onto the Vale of Wardour which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are lawns in front of the building and a wooded bank to the rear and 10 acres of field surrounding the courtyard. Parking is right outside the door and you can walk directly onto the public footpath.
Many years ago Wick Farm was an active dairy farm of some 400 acres. The present owners purchased the property in 1986 and have lovingly restored the farmhouse and surrounding buildings over many years. The oldest part of the farmhouse dates from about 1680 and The Stables are thought to have been built around 1800. Most of the buildings are constructed from the local Chilmark stone and though formerly thatched now have tiled roofs. There is still the old farm well (padlocked grill) and remains of the old bull pen. The stone troughs are now filled with flowers not water! During the summer months there may be sheep grazing the field but they are kept well away from the property by fences and a cattle grid. It is a thoroughly delightful spot,

We had a very nice stay at the Stables. The area is very beautiful and there is plenty to do. The house is quiet and secluded, but you have easy access to attractions like Salisbury or Wilton House. Also it was clean and well equipped. As the weather was very nice we really missed some comfortable garden furniture. Also the shower is in need of updating. For older people it is quite an experience to take a shower. Unfortunately we didn't meet the owners, but we received all the necessary information by mail.

We've had a wonderfull stay, in this spacious and well kept vacation-home. The house offers plenty of space for children to play, both inside and outside.
Tisbury is a pleasant village with all necessary facilities.
We really had a nice family holiday here.

Perfect size house for our party of 4. On the edge of Tisbury but easy walking distance into town and a short drive to lots of interesting attractions. The kitchen is well stocked and the WiFi is good. Only comment is that it would be nice to have a couple of blankets around for hanging out on the sofa or for extra warmth at night. Overall, a great stay!

Myself & my husband stayed for 4 nights at the Stables. It was delightful. Open plan living , all very clean , well cared for , comfortable & we had everything we needed. Check in was easy, Anne was very happy to answer any questions we had beforehand & was very accommodating & friendly. Lots of useful info to explore the surrounding area. Lovely walks right from the door or a short drive away. Quiet , rural setting but only a short walk on the footpath to Tisbury Would recommend & would love to stay again one day.

We had a lovely stay at Wick farm, blown away by the property and location. We didn't want for anything, the stables had everything we could need and was very clean and comfortable with a detailed booklet, as well as tips on where to go in the area.
Would highly recommend to other visitors to the area. Couldn't fault it.

The property was clean and tidy. Spacious area on ground floor for dining, cooking and chilling. Very comfortable property for a family of four or group of 3-4 friends. Quit well equipped kitchen; it might be worth adding a couple of more oven trays!
My friends and I enjoyed our stay and visiting Salisbury as a day trip and Tisbury itself.
The host was very good in communicating with us and giving us all the necessary instructions for checking in and out.

We enjoyed our stay at the stables, the house was perfect and the location great for trips to the surroundings. Also, you get everything you need in Tisbury, which is a small but lovely village. It's quiet and cozy and we found the beds comfortable.

The Stables at Wick Farm is both delightfully bucolic and functional for a short or longer term stay. The inside is modern and spacious with full appliances. The setting is on the edge of Tisbury village with its surprisingly interesting main street plus church and river. The village is also central for accessing area attractions and the Farm provides direct access to classically English country footpaths. Auto access is fine but you do need to be comfortable in the surrounding area with tight Englush country lanes. Overall, an utterly peaceful location with caring hosts.

We had a lovely relaxing break at this property which is surrounded by beautiful countryside. All the basic equipment was provided and the beds were very comfortable. My only criticisms are ones that have been mentioned in other reviews - the bathroom door hits the sink, the shower is awkward to use, but mostly it’s the poor quality bedding and towels.

Quiet Country Location
We are a family of 4 (Dad, Mum + 2 teenage girls) and we had a comfortable week’s stay at 'The Stables'.
The cottage is located in the middle of the countryside, near the cute town of Tisbury.
If you like being far from everything, then this is ideal. Set in a quiet, remote location down tiny country lanes where you find mostly tractors and a few local cars, made driving very interesting.
If you want to disconnect from your mobile phone and TV for a week, it’s the ideal place as there are only a few terrestrial TV channels that can be received and our mobile network service did not work in the cottage, presumably, because of the stone walls (a short walk outside enabled us to soon pick up a mobile phone signal). The Wi-Fi was pretty good, though.
Everything you need for a basic holiday is here.
A full length mirror would have been nice and maybe a better shower unit but, other than these minor issues, our week’s stay was pleasant and comfortable.

Lovely long weekend
This is a good location for a country cottage, being out in the country but a short walk (across the fields and by the river) to the small town of Tisbury which is surprisingly well served by pubs, cafes and small shops. The cottage is very well presented and is nicely located within the owners' grounds which are beautifully well kept. Parking right outside the front door was a bonus.

Lovely rustic retreat
A lovely converted stable, ideal for us as a family of four with two young kids.
The location really is fantastic. A 10 minute walk to the idylllic village of Tisbury, only made longer by playing in the park and spotting the wildlife on the way there.
The accommodation had everything we needed and provided a great base for lots of outdoor pursuits and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The Stables, Tisbury
Very nice property, very spacious & everything you could need in a home from home. The location is a little out of the way, which is perfect if you want a break away from mobile phones & the hectic lifestyle, but also close to the village, which also has almost everything you could need. The owner & her husband are extremely friendly & will provide anything that might be needed (if possible). We would definitely stay here again, after spending a week of relaxing & journeying out to places of interest in the somewhat local area.

Ideal accommodation in perfect location
The cottage is absolutely ideal for anyone that wants a quiet breakaway with local shops a short walk away. The farm is just out the village, enough out for peace and quiet and close enough to walk to the amenities. The village has a range of shops and food places, and lovely setting for a walk. Salisbury is only 25 minutes away and Southampton and South Coast is little over an hour. Anne was brilliant from the start and even with the uncertainty of Covid things went perfect. We will be back for sure.

Lovely countryside
We stayed 3 nights in this lovely cottage. It was very clean and well equipped. Great position right in the countryside but on the edge of the town. Tisbury is charming and easy to get to via the footpath. We came here for the walking and there were so many surrounding footpaths and tracks that we didn’t need to use the car at all. The cottage was very comfortable but would be improved by better quality bedding. There were no curtains or blinds downstairs and there were a lot of spotlights! I was disappointed that no hand soap was supplied. The shower head needs to descaled or replaced. We would definitely recommend the Stables.

A lovely property in a quiet location.
We had a very relaxing stay at this lovely property. The nearby village of Tisbury is a short walk away and had everything we needed for our stay, including a small Co-op, a good deli and green grocer/butcher. We had great fun with the table football and enjoyed day trips to Avebury, Shaftesbury, Stonehenge, the New Forest and Yeovil. We look forward to returning at some point in the future.

Lovely quiet hideaway
Tisbury and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Our children loved driving through a field of sheep to get to the property! The cottage is comfortable and very clean. The table football was a big hit. We chose to visit Longleat, Bath & Bowood House (on the way home) but lots of other options nearby and a great spot for walking.
