Amazing hidden gem

- super comfy bed and pillows - rooms beautifully decorated - complementary drink - excellent food - friendly, warm staff - an ideal romantic hideaway spot - very good price - just an all around amazing find - we had a great stay - the hi-lite of our holiday

A lovely countryside stay

It’s close to Larmer Tree Gardens. The room was nicely decorated, it felt in keeping with the building and whilst it felt nicely cosy, we had plenty of space. Having a flask of cold milk left outside our door was a nice thoughtful touch. Breakfast was lovely and some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had! The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Excellent location for hillwalking

The inn is off the beaten track and was chosen by us as a base for walking the downs of South Wiltshire; with excellent walks from the doorstep and dozens more a short drive from our base. The staff were particularly friendly; the cooked breakfast, using local produce, a well prepared treat. Although very much a “pub with rooms” rather than a hotel, this was little hardship as the dining/bar area was a charming place to relax (serving Butcombe’s great range of ales) and was by no means noisy when it came to bed.

The setting, staff and food were all delightful

The shower in the room was hot as kettle water and wouldn't adjust. The wet room style doesn't work well in such a small room, resulting in you having to walk on a wet floor to use the toilet or basin after the shower use.

Perfect cozy stay

The inn is charming and cozy, and decor gives a homey, country atmosphere. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much to ask - Nick and Jules were very helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious and well presented, and the room was comfortable and clean. We’d definitely come back :)

Pleasant stay in a lovely location.

Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent food.

Rooms were clean but decor looking a bit "tired". Stained carpets, marks on walls, curtains falling off rails etc. Expensive compared to other similar properties.

The room was a pleasant size, Location was great for Larmer Tree Gardens and King John House. The bed was Comfortable.

The room was tired and needed a little T.L.C. The lighting was insuffient in certain areas i.e, kettle in wardrobe. Two of the curtains were hanging off their runners. Although contacted before regarding changing facilities, we were given the public toilets to change in. Had we known we would have changed venues.

lovely place quiet village staff very friendly Nice breakfast.

The room was clean and pleasant. difficulty in finding a plug socket to charge phone. the hot water for shower was almost non existent. The rooms could do with a revamp felt a bit tiered.

very clean, comfortable room with an excellent breakfast. very friendly and accommodating staff who made me feel very welcome

no where to plug my phone in the room apart from scrambling under the table to take the kettle plug out but that is a very minor problem indeed!
