We must thank Debbie & Julie for being so hospitable and for letting us spend our vacation @ the Beautiful Makleelan House!
The house is in the perfect spot for some of the prettiest views in Ireland!
The view is to die for, the house is very clean, we did not want to leave!
But hopefully we will be able to return and if so, it absolutely will be here again!
Debbie, as our host, goes so much further than ever expected, providing anything and everything we were needing or just would like to have! And Thanks to
James and Debbie for the connections and for making the most lovely dinner, all come together! It was fabulous and greatly appreciated!
I have made a new friend! Thank you all again for a vacation that is impossible to beat!

We have been visiting Ireland yearly for some time now, & always enjoyed renting homes for our stays. Although this was the first time we called Makeelan House "home", it will definitely not be the last. From the moment we confirmed our booking, Debbie was answering our questions & making us feel comfortable with our selection. We couldn't have picked a more perfect property or host.
When we arrived, we were blown away by the house & the views. Pictures do not hold a candle to the real thing. Debbie let us settle in, then came to welcome us & show us around. She is such a kind person & we instantly felt like old friends.
There is so much to say, but it is best summed up as follows:
If you are looking for a location that offers the Ireland you see in pictures, then this is where you need to stay. It is the perfect place to base your journeys. After a long day of sightseeing at Kylemore Abbey, hiking around Inishbofin Island, or driving around the countryside, the quiet of the night here, will restore you. It is one of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed. It is also only a short drive to local pubs & markets, & only 30-minute to Clifden & more shops.
The house was roomy & cozy. The kitchen had every pot, pan & more. Windows everywhere offered stunning views that overlooked the bay, North Atlantic, islands, farms, & Renvyle Castle. The patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and spectacular sunsets.
We can't wait to go back & will be bringing the family!

Fantastic family holiday in a stunning location!
Makeelan House is an absolutely fabulous home - the location of the house is idyllic. The views from every room are amazing - whatever way you look they stop you in your tracks! It is the perfect base for a holiday in Connemara as it is very close to several gorgeous beaches,, Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey & Clifden to name but a few places. The house has absolutely everything you could think of & need in a home away from home & it is so spacious. Julie the host was extremely helpful to us & her sister Debbie gave our family such a warm welcome on our arrival - something that will stay in our minds in the future. We would love to come back again at some time in the future.

The views from the sun-room and the kitchen are what really make this place special - it's just a shame that the weather doesn't always oblige!
The house is well-equipped and perfect for groups of up to 8 people.
Julie (owner) and Sinead (caretaker) were both very welcoming and very helpful.
We would definately return!
Thanks for a great stay!

Absolutely love this home from home! Our little 5 year old boy loves “his holiday home!” The views are some of the best we have experienced anywhere in the world, and we both love the massive kitchen! Looking forward to our next visit already! Thanks again Julie!

Amazing stay!
Truly an amazing stay at this property. The views are beyond compare and the kitchen is huge...more than enough space for our 7 folks. Loved the grill - we bbq'ed on July 4th ! We had issues with our rental card and the property manager Sinead, was a great help in pointing us to someone local. Tons of material in the house for things to do. Just a remarkable location.

Best holiday home ever definitely 5 stars.
This is such a comfortable beautifully clean and well appointed house. I can’t even begin to describe the views. They are ever changing from the sea to the mountains- fantastic. This is a rare experience to find exactly what the advert for the Cottage says, is reality. The owner and the housekeeper are in touch and the directions are spot on . They have provided detailed sheets for the tv, video etc, and a box full of places to go and things to do. Definitely would love to come back.

Amazing views!
We were so lucky to have stumbled upon this property on the Renvyle Peninsula! Julie's home is absolutely lovely and with the utmost in comfort for our stay. The views were breathtaking, and we were able to explore the beautiful Connemara region easily from her location. Sinead was so helpful and was very accomodating with our late arrival. Nearby Paddy Coyne's was a favorite for wonderful food and staff. Our only regret is that we were unable to stay for another week! Thank you Julie!

Wild and rugged beauty viewed from from the house with it all overlooking the world!
This is one of the most spacious, beautiful and well-equipped houses anyone could dream of renting. For people like us who generally shy away from the modern, forget your prejudices because what Makeelen House loses in history it gains in convenience, style and, of course, location. With 3 bathrooms and a separate toilet, a wonderful conservatory-style lookout room, a cosy lounge and bedrooms galore, a dream cook's kitchen more than amply stocked with goodies and appliances and a dining area fit for the biggest family, it would be a dream house in any location. But it is NOT in any location. It is perched on a hill looking North with the conservatory sitting area to the West, so across the blue islands, from the coziness of this room, wind whistling outside, it would be next stop Canada! This is Ardnagreevagh on the Renvyle Peninsula in Connemara amongst the loughs, mountains and little winding roads of Western Ireland on the Wild Atlantic Way. Just down the road in Tully is a little supermarket with a real live butcher to serve you meat and the most unlikely gem of a hardware store. A bit further along is Tully Cross with a couple of pubs and a lovely 20th Century church with stained glass by Harry Clarke. For more supplies we drove to Letterfrack on the edge of the National Park. The majesty, tragedy and history of Kylemore Abbey is not to be missed and is only a few miles away. Even the Towns of Galway and Clifden are not too far from this wonderful spot and well worth a visit. Wherever you go, you come home to this amazing house on the hill, stand outside in the wind and wish that you could stay forever!

Outstanding views!!
Loved our 2nd stay at Makeleen house. Besides the outstanding views the house is also very clean and has all the mod cons you’ll need. Comfortable beds, beautiful nearby beaches and friendly locals down at Paddy Coyne’s makes this our favorite vacation spot in Ireland. Had family over from Tipperary this time and they loved this corner of their island as well. Highly recommend a visit to Kylemore Abbey and Connemara National Park along with Walsh’s Bakery in Clifden. Thanks to Sinead for being so accommodating when our arrival was delayed due to a late plane but it was no bother to her. Thanks again for a wonderful relaxing vacation.

Wonderful house, gorgeous views.
The best comment I can make about our recent stay at Makeelan House in Connemara is that I can't wait to go back! We are already discussing plans for next year. The sunrise coming into the master bedroom is unforgettable. Eating at the kitchen bar overlooking the Atlantic wow! The people of Tully, Tullycross, Letterfrack and Clifden are wonderful and we had many enjoyable meals in the pubs and restaurants. The house is very well equipped and very modern. We had everything we needed except for a coffee pot and we are big coffee drinkers but made do with tea. Both the owner and caretaker are very accessible for questions or concerns. Great experience!

Another stunning visit to Makeelan house
I think as it's our 4th time in a row to Makeelan house it probably sums up just how much we love the house and the area.
The house continues to be kept up to an extremely high Spec ...exceptionally clean and incredibly spacious.

Indescribably beautiful
This is a beautiful, spacious home with breathtaking views of the open ocean from every room. The kitchen is well equipped, and the owner is extremely responsive to guest requests. This was the first of 6 homes that we rented in Ireland and our only regret is that we didn't rent it last as the Grand Finale of our trip :)

A beautiful house with spectacular views
We received a very warm welcome on our arrival. This beautiful 5 star house offers every comfort. The views from the kitchen diner are truly mesmerizing and we spent most of our evenings watching the sun set over the ocean with a nice glass of wine. We all enjoyed our time in this beautiful area of Ireland and would love to come back again.
Our top tip; bring a camera and have it to hand, as the weather changes at a moments notice and so do the views. This house is a real gem!

Stunning home with all modern amenities overlooking the gorgeous Atlantic!
Where to I begin with how wonderful Julie's home was? Julie and her housekeeper Sinead were both incredibly helpful and caring from the time I booked the trip and beyond. We arrived very late due to some airport and GPS issues, and when we arrived the lights were left on for us with the key in the door. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a handy property information book, and I connected seamlessly to the Wifi. Immediately, there were messages from Julie waiting for me asking if we were okay. She was truly concerned to make sure that we made it to the home safely, and even though it was so late, she responded and welcomed us to her home. The next day, Sinead arrived and showed us all around the very spacious home to explain how everything worked. She was a sweetheart, and she made everything easy for us to operate. The home itself has the most beautiful views of the Atlantic with large bay windows and a spacious and modern feel. Every appliance, piece of cookware etc. we needed was available in the beautiful kitchen, and our bedrooms were cozy with lots of room for storage and warm, fluffy blankets. The home had more than enough space for a family of four and could actually accommodate a much larger group with several bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. There was a large dining table (overlooking the ocean as well) and a wonderful sitting room where we enjoyed nights in watching movies and listening to the wild Atlantic wind. The views were absolutely stunning, the house had everything we could possibly need, and the customer service from Julie was amazing. She even gave me recommendations for airport hotels in Dublin prior to our flight home. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, and we even met her kind and helpful sister who lives just down the way on one of our walking adventures. We never felt more at home away from home before, and we will definitely return to this magnificent home again. Julie and Sinead, we cannot thank you enough for making our stay so comfortable and providing such a stunning home for us to share.
