The property is actually more beautiful in person than in the pictures. The location on Mjejane is secluded and away from the hustle. There are many animals plodding through the garden and outside the fence, which we loved. The outdoor showers were a highlight, especially on hot nights.

Individual suites and then a main house is epic. Felt like a mini hotel. Had elephants walk right next to the fence which was amazing to see! Definitely will be back!!! Eric is also such a great host

loved that it was on a reserve because we saw lots of animals. great amount of space, and really nice furnishings.
Wi-Fi in the bedrooms would be nice but it wasn't a big deal.

Ngala's Rest is perfect! I can't complain about a thing... the open plan concept for the lounge, kitchen is dining is beautifully laid out and furnished. We also loved the fact that everyone could retire to their own rooms and then gather again to chill out and eat. We had the best time as a family and will hopefully return (without the kids this time).
We also enjoyed the game drive and got to see a leopard! The children had a great time at the swimming pool and play area.
Eric is an awesome host...very responsive, helpful and patient. Thank you for trusting us with your place.

Eric was a terrific host patiently answering all of our numerous queries, as well as organising our game drives.
Ivy the housekeeper was excellent, even neatly putting away the kids’ clothes that had been left in a mess.
Ngalas Rest is an outstanding property in the heart of the bush bordering KNP. The tranquility of the location is second to none.
Bear in mind the rooms do not interconnect so may be issue if visiting with younger children.
You can expect some growling and grunting noises after dark which we found thrilling once behind locked doors but disconcerting when walking (never run!) from the common area to bedrooms or between rooms, despite the fact that it’s merely a few seconds’ trek…
Nonetheless the place is a true gem overall.
Don’t miss a visit (or two in our case…) to River Lodge garden overlooking the main KNP, less than a ten minute walk, where there are panoramic views of the Crocodile River; see how many hippos and crocs you can spot, besides for anything else that cares to amble down to the river bank. The views are a scene straight out of National Geographic (albeit without David Attenborough’s commentary in the background…)
Perhaps a couple of basic essentials in the kitchen such as tea, coffee, sugar etc for those who may have forgotten to bring along their own (as in our case). There is a small shop nearby so not end of the world but would be helpful.

I absolutely loved the comfort of the bedrooms, by far the most comfortable place I have ever stayed over in. The environment was equally serene and I could not have asked for a better holiday destination. The host Eric went out of his way to accomodate me and even managed to save my holiday by helping to organize a game drive when our tour company's vehicle broke down.
Truly a wonderful experience which words cannot explain. You have to experience it yourself.

The house is absolutely stunning, with beautiful decor and has everything you need. The outside pool area is great to relax at, and the upper porch allows awesome views of the kruger animals. We heard lions mutliple times, and saw elephants walking right past the fence! The rooms are clean and comfortable, and very stylish.

Beautiful house and rooms. Spacious and modern. Comfortable beds. Fantastic rain shower. Every room as an outside shower.
We liked the fact that the rooms were separate from the living area.
We saw elephants, giraffes, kudu and various small animals just on the other side of the fence.
Cockroaches in the kitchen.
Shower drain not draining properly.
The reason why we picked this property was for the direct access into the Kruger, however there was no clarity before checking in about the permits for the direct access to the Kruger. We were informed about the permits when I enquired about the direct access on arrival. We didn't get the permits because we didn't apply in advance. If we were informed about the permits upon booking, we would have applied for permits upon booking
Staff not very friendly. They also didn't clean the rooms whilst our stay.
Not enough tea spoons

A lot but specifically 1. The fact that the rooms were very private and comfortable. 2. The main entertainment area as well as the 'boma' area was very spacious and welcoming. 3. Eric the host was very helpful with all of our questions prior to us arriving. 4. Price we paid was really good value for money.
Only 2 items to mention 1. There were only 10 mugs, knives, forks and spoons. It would've been ideal if we had at least 15 of each. 2. The extractor fan in the kitchen was a bit low, a few of us kept bumping our heads.
