The Robin's Nest is a cottage home surrounded by decks and a lovely flower garden and located in the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore.
The Robin's Nest was built as a hunting and fishing retreat in the 1920's when people came to the area by boat, train and stage coach. It is located in a residential area overlooking Tomales Bay in a sun belt. It is 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore headquarters and the park trail system. It is 2 miles from the town of Point Reyes Station which is the regional center(although only has a population of 500) with restaurants, an excellent grocery store and various shops. The Point Reyes lighthouse is approximately 15 miles out to the coast and provides an excellent vantage point where the whales pass by twice a year .
Inverness Park and the Robin's Nest are 38 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge so it is readily accessible to San Francisco. Because it is located in the National Seashore and along the coast line, it is in a protected zone so the surroundings are rural even though so close to the urban attractions of the Bay Area.
The house has a living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. A third bedroom and bath are located in a separate smaller building behind the main house. The two buildings are totally surrounded by approximately 900 square feet of decking which allows for taking full advantage of the outdoors.
There is a sauna and one of the bathrooms in the main house has a steam bath, so getting the ache out after a long run or hike is no problem.
The house is well equipped with a gas grill, TV (with cable tv) WiFi , and comfortable furniture and art work reflecting the Latin American travels of the owners. The kitchen has necessary cooking equipment, a self cleaning electric stove and basic cooking condiments.
The house is heated by a Vermont castings wood burning stove and there is plenty of fire wood. Electric heaters are available to supplement the wood stove while it heats up.

You can see by the photo that the property is on several levels - at least 5 or 6 of them. The wooden steps are all painted the same color, so some of the levels going down are particularly difficult to see and prepare for.
Our stay would have been lovely, but both my husband and I tripped on one of those level changes. It I have been unable to walk normally for the last 9 days, and am still in considerable pain.
The owner wanted to be helpful, but she was out of town. She did give me a refund for one day's stay, but refused to recognize that they had a risky situation that needed remediation.
I hope she changes her mind.

From the first moment we entered Robin's Nest, we realized it was a special place. Beautiful gardens and fruit trees outside and inside, the house is cozy, decoratively appointed and colorful. Lots of sitting, well appointed kitchen and very comfortable beds. Quiet house in a beautiful setting.

Great location, easy to check in, plenty of light throughout and nice amenities. Steam shower was extremely relaxing and the walk-in closet was perfect place for our infant to take a nap without any light interference

I stayed at the Robin’s nest with my husband, toddler, and good friend, and we all had an incredible time. The grownups enjoyed the art, gorgeous views, and the steam shower, while we all enjoyed birdwatching and the beautiful garden. Lovely house, lovely location, I hope to come back!

This place was a perfect base to explore Point Reyes National Seashore for a few days. Many miles and many birds heard and seen (including some new ones for our life lists).

An older but lovely home, with big windows overlooking a beautiful garden. Clean and nicely decorated. Bathrooms have been remodeled.
Gets a bit warm on a hot day, but opening the windows brings in a cool breeze. Overall we had a great time, we would like to come in the winter too, to enjoy the wood stove. We had a perfect 4th of July getaway.

A short drive past the Red Barn Visitors Center lies Inverness park where sits Robbin's Nest. The fence and gate hide the garden treasure behind its walls. The house is comfortable, though a little musty at first but that soon dissipated with all the double doors open. The kitchen met all our needs as did the rest of the house. Our only issues were with the departure instructions which we found to be a little confusing and the skylight blinds in the living room, otherwise it was all we could hope for.

Robin's Nest is beautifully situated, furnished, and appointed, We felt like we were staying in the home of a friend with great taste. Having each bedroom with its own bath worked well with 2 couples. Evenings by the wood burning stove was cozy, the sauna divine, and we headed out the door to hike in stunning spots within 20 minutes.

This cottage is easy to reach yet feels like a true getaway to a beautiful site with lots of hikes. We spent a Thanksgiving weekend exploring the natural parks (state and national) while making a wonderful meal, with ingredients supplied by excellent local shops, in a beautifully appointed and super comfortable country cottage.

Modest and quiet, lovely location with garden view and birdsong. 20 minute walk to a great little roadhouse with the best burger we've had in a long while. Enjoyed the sauna and steam shower - and an excellent night's sleep.

Warm and interesting decor. It felt like a well cared for home - not like a vacation rental. Charming neighborhood and close to Point Reyes Station. Enjoyed the sauna. Would definitely stay there again!

We loved this cozy, carefully decorated home. The location was great for hiking, enjoying the area's serenity, and access to great food. The house is perfect for relaxing, enjoying the natural surroundings, and finding new trails to explore.
The neighborhood is quiet, and the home is welcoming and sparkling clean. Such a joy! We hope to return.

We spent a wonderful long, mid-November weekend in this home and were generally very happy with its cleanliness and amenities. It is beautifully decorated and has a great floor plan that affords privacy and convenience. Close to both Pt. Reyes National Seashore and Tomales State Park, it presents wonderful opportunities for hiking, bird watching, and surfing.
Our only complaint was the lack of central heat. It has electric heaters in bedrooms, bathrooms and dining room, but most of the heat must come from a wood burning stove. The wood provided was much too wet to burn, so we had to make a few trips to purchase wood. It was a warm weekend (for mid-November), so that wasn’t much of a problem, but I would be cautious about staying there during really chilly weather. We really had a great time and loved the house, though!

Grace was a wonderful host. The house was absolutely lovely. The location was great, it was sparkling clean, everything we needed was there, everything worked, the interior decorating was delightful, the neighborhood was quiet. Did I omit anything? We hope to be able to stay again and highly recommend Robin's Nest.

My husband and I just returned from a lovely weekend away in Point Reyes, where we stayed at this charming cottage in Inverness. From the minute we opened the door and entered the lovely gardens which surround the home, we knew we had made the right choice! Upon the short flight of steps to the front dood, we were already locating outdoor spaces among the several patios and decks to enjoy our morning coffee and evening cocktails. When we opened the door we were delighted to see that the interior of the cottage matched the loveliness of the exterior. A cozy living room with word burning stove, cozy leather arm chairs with warm, woolly throws, and a window seat nook to curl up with a book and a cup of tea. The kitchen was stocked with everything one could need with an assortment of colorful crockery behind glass fronted cabinets. The master bed had a large and comfy bed with soft sheets and warm comforters - replete with a French door to the side deck and a walk-in closet. The owner, Grace was very responsive to all of my questions, and the welcoming nature of the cabin she created is a direct reflection of her hospitality. The beauty of the trails we hiked and the vastness of the ocean from the cliffs made the weekend truly remarkable. We will come be back to enjoy all that Point Reyes and this lovely home provides! Perfect for relaxing days!

We felt at home here and enjoyed everything from the quality of the sheets on the comfy beds to the milk frother in the well equipped kitchen. The feel of the place is warm and welcoming thanks in part to the art the owner has chosen for the cottage. Lovely hills views and close to Inverness. Highly recommend.

I stayed in Robin’s Nest for three nights with my daughter and son-in-law and 6-year-old granddaughter. We all loved the cottage—the photos do not do justice to its intrinsic charm and the unusual, interesting artwork and artifacts with which it is decorated. The bedding was of high quality, with mostly natural fibers, making it very comfortable. Robin’s Nest is located in a quiet, wooded neighborhood with easy access to the various hikes and beaches in Point Reyes. The cottage and the deck in front overlook a lovely, terraced garden and offer beautiful, serene views of the hills to the East. We heard lots of birds nearby, including an industrious woodpecker every morning. We had most of our meals on the deck, which had sun in the morning but was pleasantly shaded in the evening. Robin’s Nest was a very restful and charming place to stay, and we hope to stay there again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend away at Robin's Nest. The home is cheerful, well lit, and a stylish little abode. Fantastic views, with numerous niches throughout the property to retreat and take in the beautiful peacefulness of your surroundings. Home was equipped with all amenities you could need and then some. The sauna was an added bonus, and the deck was the perfect place to sit and welcome the day new day each morning. A comfortable and cozy retreat with substantial heat, towels, good quality bedding, and ambiance. Great location. Walking distance to the near by general store, and a nice stroll down to the water which you can follow along into town.
