About this cottage rental
We want to express our heartfelt thanks and well wishes from past and future guests in regards to Tropical Storm Helene’s disastrous impact on our region. Fortunately, downtown Asheville - the location of our cottage - sustained minimal damage and businesses and restaurants are reopening. Our cottage escaped unharmed. The Biltmore Estate is once again celebrating its annual Christmas at the Biltmore event and will lead the way in attracting visitors from all over.
We hope to welcome you as our guests and help rebuild and re-energize our beloved city and its amazing and resilient community. Thank you!
Our Cozy Cottage on Church Street is an Architectural Jewel nestled among the few historical homes that line this charming street.
We are the only licensed 'Whole House' (stand alone house, not an apartment in a high-rise) rental in Downtown Historic Asheville! You will enjoy the entire house to yourselves! Whether you are a group of friends, a family, old classmates, art or nature lovers, a study group, foodies, or golf buddies, this is the downtown home that offers everything you may need to refresh, re-unite and build wonderful memories together. This is cottage is the perfect place for 2 to 3 couples, a small or large family or a group of friends (5 separate beds).
Our charming cottage offers plenty of free parking in the rear. No need to search for an exceedingly rare and expensive parking space as most restaurants, shops, galleries and museums are only a short walk away.
Our guests love spending time on our shaded and relaxing large front porch, a great place to visit with each other, enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The porch overlooks a small front yard with an artfully designed Mountain Laurel fence. The large back patio offers plenty of seating to enjoy a meal outdoors or just to hang out together. If you prefer to eat in and relax in the warmth of the adjoining dining room, enjoy our fully functional kitchen (large French Door refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave and plenty of cabinets and utensils for you to use). The living room offers a cozy environment for reading, movies, games or just visiting with your friends and family. The house has two Smart TVs (SLING subscription), both with a DVD player. The cottage has 2 bathrooms. The second floor bathroom has a large walk in shower. The downstairs bathroom has a shower and is equipped with a washer and dryer for you to use.
This 120 year old historical cottage has been completely restored in 2005 and partially remodeled in 2023 and repainted in 2024 and is equipped with all the amenities of modern living yet keeping the ambiance of yesteryear. We added a large walk-in shower to the Master Bath and a custom tiled shower to the second bathroom. The heart of pine wooden floors, stair railings and pocket doors are original to the house and have been beautifully refinished.
We are only a short 7 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate and many other highly sought after local attractions. The Biltmore Estate, built by George Vanderbilt, is the largest privately owned home in America. The Estate is world famous for replanting their splendid gardens each season. They own one of the most amazing private art collections in the world and their winery and culinary tantalizing restaurants are highly acclaimed. If visiting Asheville in December, a visit to the 'Christmas at Biltmore Estate' is a must to experience. The Grove Park Inn has an amazing 'One of a Kind Nationwide Gingerbread Exhibition & Competition', held every December and the Grove Park Inn's enormous double stone fireplaces are to be enjoyed with a steaming cup of hot chocolate (I promise, it is an unforgettable experience!!). We have made both of these events our annual Christmas traditions since discovering Asheville in 2003. We are within walking distance to the newly redesigned Pack Square Plaza that enjoys outdoor concerts and festivals throughout the seasons. Downtown is full of wonderful diverse restaurants and coffee shops, unique boutique shopping, award winning art galleries, quaint grocery stores, museums, theaters, architecturally delightful buildings and historically significant monuments and landmarks. All of this and much more are just minutes from our lovely cottage enjoyed by foot.
Hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting, winter skiing, snow boarding and motoring the Blue Ridge Parkway at any season is a delight. Explore and enjoy Asheville to fully experience why it is rated one of top tourist destinations.
We provide a clean and safe environment for you to enjoy, a true home away from home.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

My communication with Carl and Terri prior to and during our stay always resulted in a prompt reply. The TV was tricky to operate, directions would have helped. Location was ideal, easy to walk to downtown. We tried a few restaurants on the list of recommendations and they were very good. We would recommend the cozy cottage to others!

Family stayed for a few days in this cozy, ideally located home. Home was beautiful, beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked, and off-street parking to boot - couldn’t be more ideal. We walked to morning coffee and sandwiches at the bodega, lunch beers just around the corner and the best ice cream sandwiches literally right next door. Highly recommended.

Great property. Need additional blankets for bedrooms. Shampoo in the bathrooms. Throw blankets for living room. All the passwords given were different. Signal for the tv kept buffering. These are all small things, but would improve the stay.

Great location for a weekend getaway. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants and shopping in Downtown Asheville!

Our stay was lovely and we enjoyed the location as it was an easy walk to everything we wanted to see and do downtown. The home is clean and the beds were comfortable.

The location of this house was wonderful for walking around downtown Asheville. It didn't seem to us that the listing saying it would be comfy for 8 wasn't accurate. There is one good sized bathroom upstairs with the bedrooms and one small one downstairs. Two of the bedrooms have multiple beds, but that wouldn't work for all groups. There are only three bedrooms.

The house is very charming and comfortable. It is well located so you can easily get to the restaurants, breweries, The Biltmore, or Omni.

3 high school friends, now in our fifties, get together for an annual girls trip. This comfortable home, and downtown location did not disappoint. Less than two miles from the Biltmore and Grove Park Inn everything we needed from great shopping to restaurants was at our fingertips. Felt like we were staying at a friends home. We loved it!

We had a wonderful weekend in Downtown Asheville. The cottage is beautiful and in the perfect location! We visited a dozen breweries over the weekend and walked to all of them. We’ve added this as an annual event, and we will be booking this cottage again next year!
4.8
The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay including a fantastic location. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating!

We had a great time on our annual ladies trip. Great location. House was delightful and clean.

Stayed 4 nights for nephew’s wedding. House was perfect for our family of 5 adults. Downtown location was awesome! Will be back!

The property is beautiful with a welcoming porch, well-appointed kitchen, and comfortable beds. It is a great location to explore all that Asheville has to offer. I highly recommend it.
The owners were responsive - we had an issue with the water not going down in the sink (not draining at all), as soon as we arrived. It was a Friday afternoon, and the owners found a plumber who was available to take a look at it that evening and over the weekend if we had any continued problems. Before sending the plumber out, we determined it was a breaker issue, and once the switch was flipped, we were good to go. We appreciated the attention from the owners to ensure that everything was working properly and the time it took to find someone to come out over the weekend.
If I were to visit Asheville again, I would certainly look to stay here again! There is also plenty of off street parking and two beautiful bathrooms. It was also extremely clean.

This house was perfect for our group of ladies. We walked to food, drinks and live music. The house is older and charming with lots of lovely accents. Even though an older house, it had good AC and we were all comfortable. Beautiful home in the perfect location

We enjoyed this house! Lots of character and room for our family of 6. Perfect walking distance to everything in downtown Asheville.

Terri and Carl, what a wonderful home! This was a girl's trip with seven ladies, and the house could not have been more perfect. Morning coffee and evening cocktails were spent on the exceptional porch. We walked to rooftop bars, breweries, shopping, and restaurants - PERFECT location. The two bathrooms were not an issue at all. Thank you so much - I hope to be back again!

Fabulous house. Fabulous location. What a wonderful place to stay to be walking distance to everything in downtown Asheville. And the house itself was awesome. I recommend it!
4.8
The location can't be beat. We walked everywhere, only took out the car (BTW the parking is ample for at least three cars) to go to Biltmore Village and the Craft museum and Grove Park Inn.
The kitchen was well supplied and easy to cook in. Lots of supplies so no need to buy basics, there was even coffee (we brought our own but if we had run out) foil and lots of spices.
The most amazing thing were the fireflies and birds in the front garden! There are lots of bird feeders, if I had found bird seed to buy I would have reloaded them.

If you are looking for a home with charm in the heart of downtown Asheville, this is your place. The home was clean, the description was accurate, and the ability to walk to all Asheville has to offer was great. The owner's instructions were easy to follow which made for easy check-in and check-out. We would certainly stay here again.

We could not have a found a more perfect place for our girls weekend. The house was well equipped, clean and adorable with comfy beds and the front porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings and charcuterie and wine in the evenings. We could walk everywhere downtown including some of our favorites restaurants and breweries and had multiple parking spaces. Would love to stay here again!

This was a perfect location in downtown Asheville. We rented this house for a Girls Weekend and it did not disappoint. The house was beautifully decorated and very clean. We were just a few blocks from the downtown shopping area and were able to walk instead of taking the car. We enjoyed the seating area on the porch. The owners were very prompt with our questions and supplied us with lists of things to do and where to eat in the area. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking in the Asheville area.

Loved this home and its location! Only issue was second floor bath is connected to primary and hall. With six gals - the ones in primary heard bathroom activity. But location and space hard to beat! Beds are so comfortable!

We had the best time staying at this cottage for my husbands 30th Birthday! The cottage was perfect for our group! The house smelt nice and clean when you walked in and all the rooms were nice and neat and ready to go! Location was 10 stars for us! GREAT GREAT GREAT location! Communication with the owners was easy and got back to you in reasonable time! The house is older so some doors are harder to close than some but that gives it charm! I would recommend this house to anyone that wants to be in downtown area and stay at a nice clean place with very nice owners!
