About this house rental
It's always a great time to be in the mountains! Our mountain home has the views, the comfort and great access to local attractions. Many hikes and waterfalls nearby. King bedroom, queen bedroom, bunk room with two sets of bunkbeds, den with trundle. Basement has a "Harry Potter bed under the stairs" a favorite for kids.
Round Mountain Lodge, a charming mountain home perched above Lake Jocassee on the edge of Gorges State Park, provides an amazing retreat from life's hectic pace. It is only 2 miles from 'The Wilds Camp and Conference Center' and Georges State Park, Frozen Creek access. A variety of waterfalls, restaurants, and local attractions are within easy driving distance.
Set on the south side of Round Mountain between the quaint mountain towns of Brevard and Lake Toxaway, Round Mountain Lodge is not simply a house in the mountains, but a 'mountain home.' Transylvania County, where our home is located, is known for its waterfalls, hiking and state and national parks.
The main living area has a cathedral ceiling and mountain views from a bank of south-facing windows. The beautiful fireplace dominates the living area. Warm wood graces interior walls as do some amazing quilts by a local artist. The first floor bedroom holds a king sized bed; another large upstairs room boasts a comfy queen. All bedrooms have down comforters. The Bunk Room holds two sets of bunk beds, making Round Mountain Lodge the ideal lodging choice for two families who wish to vacation together. The den houses a trundle bed with two twins. Please note, however, our guest limit is 8.
The house is furnished for fun and comfort. The new family room on the lower level has a 58" TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu+ Live TV and the "Harry Potter" bed under the stairs. If you want to sit back and enjoy a good read, we have books in the 'Loft Library", You can also venture onto the rock outcroppings below the porch to enjoy the scenery and sounds of nature. A game room in the basement has a new foosball table and more than 60 puzzles and games for kids of all ages.
Watch the fog roll up the mountains from the porch swing. Discover one of several waterfalls, hiking trails and parks a short drive from the Lodge. The "main road" and others on Round Mountain are lovely walks as well. Asheville is a short drive too. All ingredients for the perfect mountain retreat are found amidst the tranquility and mountain splendor of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.
Brevard is a fabulous mountain town with craft breweries, two wonderful bakeries, ample great restaurants, art galleries, and the world's best toy store (in our humble opinion; OP Taylor's can't be beat for toy enthusiasts!)
One of only 40 homes on the 1200 acres on Round Mountain, the Lodge boasts spacious rooms, comfortable and ample furnishings, and amenities that define it as a home rather than a 'rental unit'. This beautifully decorated home is amply supplied with accoutrements for the perfect mountain get-away. In any season, Round Mountain Lodge will call you back again and again.

Round Mountain Lodge was perfect for our family Thanksgiving! A beautiful spacious cabin in a gorgeous location, and a VERY well stocked kitchen. We couldn't have asked for more. We particularly liked the outdoor fireplace, perfect for s'mores in the evening :).

We loved the place! It felt just like a home with everything you’d need for a large family. Only had to bring food and drink. Close to some amazing parks and waterfalls. Really felt like a home for a weekend! Much appreciate and thanks to the owners. -don’t forget your bug spray-

The cabin was exactly what we needed for an after-the-holiday family vacation. It was well-stocked and supplied with everything we needed. It was clean and cozy, with lots of space for our family. The location was perfect. The Christmas decorations and lights added a festive touch. The owners answered our questions promptly and were always available. We would definitely stay there again!

This peaceful, comfortable home is a thirty minute drive to the nearest grocery store. Unfortunately, I recommend a through video inspection prior to your stay due to unauthorized charges to my credit card for damages not caused by our party.

Beautiful home, comfortable for the whole family!
We enjoyed our stay at Round Mountain Lodge. The home is supplied with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of kitchen supplies, lots of extra linens, and games, toys and books for the whole family. It was so nice to relax on the porch with our coffee and just enjoy the view. The location is a little "out of the way", but not inconvenient.

Cozy, roomy, beautiful cabin
This cabin was even more beautiful in person-- and so roomy! We had my whole family gathered for Thanksgiving-- all adults-- and there was room for everyone so no one felt crowded or on top of each other. Amazing views... big, stocked kitchen... cozy blankets and the fireplace was perfect. And the outdoor firepit on the rock was our favorite hangout. It is far from everything, so bring what you need so you don't have to travel down the mountain for anything. Brevard is also a quaint, wonderful little town. Thank you for the wonderful Thanksgiving memories!

listing and pictures do not do this place justice!
what an amazing place! the amenities alone were over and above anything we expected. the place was clean, and the booklet of the property was very helpful. this place is perfect for families, especially with the game room and tv downstairs. if you stay here, you must spend at least one evening sitting out on the rock-fire pit area and see all the stars! simply put, best place weve ever stayed! make sure to bring everything you think you would need as the place is pretty remote. and if you forgot it, they probably have it already!

A Perfect Family Vacation -- All 8 of us want to do a repeat
Eight family members of 3 generations gathered for a perfect vacation on Round Mountain. We found that the accommodations lived up to their description. Perfect mountain home, artistically decorated. Julie's quilts themselves provide a beautiful display and a wonderful ambience. Each room was a delight. We gathered on the screened porch, in the kitchen, living room, den, game room, downstairs TV room -- everywhere. The bedrooms were so attractive and beds were all so comfortable. Bunk bed room was a hit for 4 siblings. Kitchen was so well-stocked. Our 2 cooks who planned the food found it so convenient. Our activities: we hiked, jogged, played frisbee, played games, did yoga, read (everyone loved the chaise lounge on the screened porch), danced during a birthday celebration, used WiFi for laptops, and gathered on the giant rock for photos. The welcome book was so informative and entertaining to read. (Read it right away!) Learning the history of the house and location enhanced our appreciation. Loved the extensive book selection!!! Used the living room's waterfall books to find our perfect waterfall trip. We chose Triple Falls in DuPont State Recreational Forest. Didn't know until later that it was used as site in Hunger Games movies. Beautiful visit there. Even on a beautiful fall Sunday it was not jammed with visitors; spacious paths and unbelievable triple waterfall. So peaceful on Round Mountain. City kids remarked on how pleasant the quietness was. Perfect weather, but wouldn't care what the weather was up there. Could still have a wonderful time. We all want to go back. Thank you, David and Julie, for your thoughtfulness in accommodating our request to increase our visitor count as more people signed on for the fun!

Little slice of heaven
We found some piece and quiet. The property was larger than expected. The owners are very organized and we loved the fact everything was labeled, just makes life easier. The porch is where we spent a lot of our evening family time, talking and enjoying the breathtaking sunset. It felt like a home away from home. If you’re looking for that mountain vacation home, this is it!
Ps- wonderful restaurant about 25 minutes away called Pantherville Restaurant. It was delicious and everyone was friendly.

Enjoyed a great stay at Round Mountain Lodge
Round Mountain Lodge was well stocked and very comfortable. In many rentals, the kitchen provisions are a "Mish-Mash" of stuff which get you through the week. At Round Mountain Lodge, the kitchen was fully stocked with all supplies to cook up meals each day (measuring cups, spoons, bowls, pans, serving bowls). It's about a 20 minute drive to Brevard and Pisgah, but not too bad to be out in the quiet Blue Ridge surroundings. We did some grilling and had a small bon-fire on the rock out back. Walked, Biked, and Ran on Round Mountain Road before our daily activities....We highly recommend Round Mountain Lodge.....Thanks for the Great Stay.

Wonderful, secluded getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Round Mountain Lodge. Excellent location and seclusion from the hustle and bustle. Our own little sanctuary away from everything. It was wonderful. House is well maintained, with plenty of options for adults and kids alike. We only turned the TV on one time because were occupied with climbing on the rocks outside, playing on the tire swing out front, or playing downstairs in the gameroom. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to stay!
We had a wonderful time! The drive in was amazing. All of the creeks and little waterfalls along the way up the mountain were beautiful. The house was absolutely beautiful as well! It is really a 4 bedroom (in my opinion anyway) as the "family room" is like a bedroom. The basement is almost like it's own little apartment which was very nice and where the kids spent most of their time while there. The decks are amazing as well. The upper deck and lower deck have different "energies". The upper deck has a tranquil, grab a cup of coffee and a book to relax feel to it. The lower deck is perfect for grilling out and "chilling" with some adult beverages, and the "redneck chandelier' is amazing (a tree wrapped in Christmas lights with glass bobbles hanging from it) !!!. The welcome book is often overlooked at rental homes but you should read this one. I enjoyed the story of what the name was going to be, before that name was overridden via family vote. I was also tickled to see that the owners have a good sense of humor and welcomed the guests to "forget some beer" in the mini fridge when we leave (which we actually did). lol. One thing that is notable for families would be the fire pit. If you have young children and intend on enjoying a camp fire, hanging around the firepit could be a bit scary as it is on a very rocky area that have quite a drop off the end of it and it was slick due to the rain and fog. Maybe a flatter spot with some chairs would be something for the owners to consider? One other suggestion would be to maybe add another bathroom. Even a half bath on the lower level would have made it easier for morning and evening bathroom rituals considering the number of people that the house holds. There is only one issue that we had/have.....and it is that the fireplace wasn't working. One of the things that set this property apart from the others was the gorgeous floor to ceiling fireplace. We we looking forward to sitting around a crackling fireplace as a family :-(. The owners did let us know about a week prior to our stay, so we were aware of this; but that was disappointing considering we paid for it with that being an advertised feature and were not offered any type of discount for it not being operational. Note- I did not ask for a discount, I just anticipated it to be offered considering. All-in-all, we absolutely plan on staying here again. Our family had a great time and the house was amazing!!!

Christmas family gathering on Round Mountain
Fabulous mountain home. Cozy and welcoming. Beautiful views of the mountains. Spent our Christmas watching the fire, enjoying some relaxation and preparing food in the extremely well equipped kitchen. David the owner was very responsive to email questions. Also directions to the cabin were easy to follow. We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years and this was definitely one of the best.. Very clean with well supplied towels, linens, paper products- really anything you would need to make your stay enjoyable. If you want peace and quiet, lovely sunrises and sunsets this is the place to be. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit, playing games and doing puzzles. All available at the cabin. Our furry family members loved playing in the woods and relaxing in front of the fire. Highly recommend for a great secluded getaway.

Lovely mountain retreat
Wonderful mountain getaway with hiking trails practically at the doorstep. Excellent communications with the property owners who couldn't be more gracious. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of dishes, pots & pans, and dry-good staples. Plenty of linens and towels. We spent Thanksgiving weekend & cooked all of our meals, bringing our own food from home. Multiple grocery stores available in Brevard about 35 minutes away down the mountain. Enjoyed the beautiful dawns & sunsets from the screened porch and evenings at the fire pit. Appreciated that the property was dog friendly (bring your own crate). Owners provided perfect directions which differed from Google (and were easier). I would suggest arriving well before dusk as the mountain roads are winding and dark. Highly recommend.

Nice mountain cabin
The cabin was great size for a family mountain getaway, 4 bedrooms (including 2 sets of bunkbed in 1 room) laundry and game room and a twin sized bed under the stairs down the basement, 2 full bathrooms, It's quite far from groceries and downtown, about 40 min drive ( so stop by groceries and anything you need before you go, as the owner suggested beforehand). The downstairs outdoor dining area wasn't that inviting maybe because it was already cold and "fall leaves" were everywhere. There's a firepit outside but might be dangerous if you have small kids to do bonfire with( it's very close to the edge of the rock outcropping). The kids loved hanging out at the newly renovated basement with TV/netflix! Kitchen was well stocked and view was awesome every morning while having coffee by the porch swing. We didn't use the log fireplace inside but would have been nice, the owner will give you a number for someone to bring firewood for you if you want. Some rooms are a little outdated and has smell on the beddings but bed was comfortable. The 2 bunkbeds were a charm but my daughter complained the sheet was itchy. The downstairs bathroom shower/tub is dark when you are taking a shower when you close the shower curtain all the way since there's no light nearby (I suggest a shower curtain that has cutouts that would let the light in?) We were able to hike down one of the trails suggested, from the house about 45 min RT, it goes to a beautiful creek. Other than that everything was great and we had a wonderful long weekend!!!

Great time in the mountains
The house was so nice. Everything we needed or could have wanted was there for our use. The kitchen was so well equipped. The view was beautiful but we were a little disappointed that it was not possible to see those beautiful sunsets from the porch. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time here in the mountains.

Exactly What I Wanted
A cozy well-appointed home with plenty of room and mountain views, tucked away in the woods. Out of the way on a lovely drive through the North Carolina countryside. Exactly the type of property I had hoped for. Enjoyed the fireplace, serenity and atmosphere. The owners have made their home a welcoming place for visitors, right down to the lovely quilts. Will go back.

Exactly what you expect
Spacious. A lot of rooms. Great views and porch sitting. Spacious functional living room and kitchen. Comfy furniture. Very clean! A lot of levels to hangout. Nice appliances (loved the fridge, dishwasher, and washer/dryer). Beds and pillows were comfy. Don't forget to put sheet on the bunk beds! Put my two year old to bed not realizing she was sleeping on just the mattress pad. Oops! The rooms and bathrooms were nice. Upstairs has a shower but downstairs has a shower and bath. The area is beautiful and has so much to do! Give yourself time! Breweries, fruit picking, farms, hiking, waterfalls, cute downtown Brevard. Would definitely stay here again! Love the family story too! All I can think about is "bear bottoms"! Haha! You'll have to stay to find out. ;)
