We enjoyed our week stay at the Red Butte Ranch very much. It was spacious, clean, had a fully stocked kitchen and the host (Ruth) was amazing. The location was great, located just a few miles out of Casper yet quiet and serene.
We plan to return next summer and if available would book the RBR again.

The Red Butte Ranch is a beautiful, rustic location on the banks of the historic North Platte River, with a great view of the Red Buttes of Bessemer Mountain. A great backdrop for pictures. I hear the fishing is good too. My family stayed in the "Lodge" house, which is a large house with many bedrooms, and all the comforts of home. There is also a smaller, cozy cottage on the property for smaller groups. We all enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the game room for a ping pong tournament. Our host, Ruth, was very kind, helpful and provided us with all we needed. I wish we would have had more time to explore the North Platte River area, and to catch some trout for dinner. We plan on going back to the Red Butte Ranch at our soonest opportunity.

We had an amazing time at Red Butte Ranch. Beautiful location, great host (Ruth), incredible scenery and great fishing. 5 of us stayed in the lodge with more than enough room and peace and quiet. We had a great time winding down in the evenings, watching basketball and playing ping pong. Everything you need for cooking is there, Beds were very comfortable, everything was very clean, and it even had a nice garage and laundry room to dry out our fishing gear and warm it up for the next day. I would recommend staying here to anyone, and I will not stay anywhere else in the Alcova/Casper area. Thanks Ruth we will see you next time.

This was a family trip and we really enjoyed the large home. There’s a great wrap around deck with comfortable outdoor seating and views of red butte and the river. Fly fishing just steps away from back yard. The home was well appointed with just about everything you need. Beds were comfortable. Ruth was very nice and easy to communicate with. Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home. I hope we get to come back next summer. 🙂

House is in decent shape. Feels a lot like someone inherited Grandma's house and turned it right around to rent it out. Nice and clean; great location right on the river. Not as secluded as the photos make it seem but a great location anyhow. Don't expect to be able to lock up at night as the sliding glass doors don't lock and you won't get the key code for the door. According to the host, "we don't need locks here" (whatever that means) but maybe don't bring anything too valuable.
The issues all seem to be with the host. First, we saw in the listing that check in time is 10:00 AM, so we made plans to be there at 10. When driving from Oregon to Wyoming, this affected our plans pretty significantly. Once we got close, we hadn't heard anything, so we messaged the host... turns out check in is 2 pm. The host did work on getting us in earlier, and we checked in around 12:30, but it was frustrating to have planned around one time and end up having to wait.
The biggest issue occurred later in our trip. We had several small kids with us, and one of them opened the door to a bedroom while an adult was behind it. The mirror attached to the back of the door fell off and broke. Fortunately, the adult who was there only got a small cut, but it could have been much worse if the kid was the one behind the door. Looking at it afterwards, the mirror was only secured with a few screws and washers (not actual glass clips) on 3 sides, which was a bit frightening. We got it cleaned up and contacted the host to apologize and offer to reimburse her for the cost of the mirror. The response was not "oh no, hope everyone's ok", it was "I just don't know what to say. It's not about the money, it's about the people who used to live here." Super awkward (if this stuff is so important, why is it in a VRBO that you rent out to families with kids?) and rather baffling. She will also just walk in the house and call for someone if she needs to talk to you rather than messaging or knocking, which was also odd and rather off-putting.
Hopefully the host can fix some of the issues, because it really is a pretty place, but we probably won't be back.

My wife and I stayed in Casper for a few days to check out the area and do a little fishing. The location was perfect to get to all of the great fishing spots Grey Reef, Fremont canyon, and on property. And a little drive to Casper we found some fun spots to have a drink and eat. Ruth was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed and that our stay was pleasant. Thanks again.

Me and my friends stayed for 5 days in the lodge. 3 out of those 5 days, the host came into the house without announcing it beforehand. Very unprofessional and detrimental to our privacy.

We are 8 people, ages from 2-60+ and we loved every second of this property. So much space for everyone to spread out. Lots of seating too. The game room was a huge hit for all ages. The river provides a wonderful backdrop for a gorgeous sunset. The host is very kind and accessible, lives next door. Everything you need is provided, and then some. So many kitchen tools and small appliances! If you have little kids, I suggest bringing a baby gate for the stairs and be aware of the drop off hill in the backyard that goes down to the river. We never wanted to leave.

The lodge was the perfect place for our fishing weekend. Having private water access right out the backdoor was amazing (and lots of fish too). This was the perfect place for us to get away from the busyness of life, enjoy the stars at night, and just be for a few days.
Ruth was great, extremely welcoming and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely be back!

Great location to the North Platte River. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable with 6 bedrooms, 3 baths and a fully furnished kitchen was just what we needed! Our host Ruth was very accommodating! We have stayed there in the past and will return, hopefully sooner rather than later! Thanks again Ruth!

Ruth was great and so was the lodge. It was clean and comfortable. It was more than what we needed being it was just me, my wife and our two dogs. It was cold and windy when we were there so we didn't get to sit on the deck to really enjoy the view. The important thing is it was clean and we felt safe to stay there. My wife still wiped the door handles and sprayed with disinfectant just to be safe. She did this before COVID also. We all had a good time even the dogs. We will be back there in the spring or summer and maybe look to stay in the cottage instead.
