About this cottage rental
Come and stay in our Downtown Brevard Cottage. Walk to great local restaurants such as Wild Morel ( 5 minutes ) and Square Root ( 9 minutes ) and many others. We are close enough to the 185 King Street music venue that you might hear their music if you relax on our deck! Our cottage is a three bedroom, two bath home nicely located a block away from Main Street down a quiet side street in Brevard, NC, a college town nestled on the edge of Pisgah National Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Stroll the numerous antique and specialty stores along Main Street ( 1 block away ). Have breakfast at Rocky's Grill and Soda Shop ( 10 minute walk ), and afterwards, take the kids to OP Taylors on Main Street, a two story old fashioned toy shop packed to the rafters with fascinating things for children and adults alike.
After a day of strolling, soak up some warmth in the four person hot tub. Watch movies on our netflix enabled smart TV, or cast your favorite youtube videos to the TV with your laptop when hanging around at the cottage. To see the latest movies, mozy on over to the 'Co-ed Cinema' on Main street by foot, just a 7 minute walk.
If it's time for a drink, Dugan's pub is a 13 minute walk (Square Root has a bar too!), and if you want to keep going in that direction, Brevard College is just across the street from the pub.
You will love our brevard cottage, not just for it's convenient location in quaint downtown Brevard, but for it's comfort and amenities too.
If you are bored, just ask Alexa to read you the latest news! Alexa, do I look good today? If you must talk to the NSA through Alexa, do it while you are there, don't let the black helicopters arrive right after you leave.....
The cottage sleeps six with our king, queen and two single beds. On winter evenings, relax by the gas log fire, and when not walking the neighborhood, the cottage is close to the natural scenic wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is located in Transylvania County, known as the land of the waterfalls.
Asheville's Airport is only 19 miles away, not bad when you need to get rid of a relative fast!
You can be driving on scenic HWY 276 through Pisgah National Forest in just nine minutes, following the Davidson river (great for tubing) on the way to the Blue Ridge Parkway......Stop at Sliding Rock as you pass by for some fun in the water on a warm summer day. Visit the Pisgah Inn for lunch and marvel at the views from the restaurant.
Later, drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Asheville and stop at the Biltmore House to see how we should be living....you know, some design ideas for your own place....perhaps add a new wing to the abode? Gothic anyone?
The cottage has a king size bed and an ensuite master bathroom, one queen and two single beds. For longer stays, the washer and dryer will come in handy. If you are the out-doorsy type, sip a glass of wine and have a cookout on the gas grill on the private back deck while enjoying the cool summers and mild winters this part of the North Carolina mountains offer.
If you need a break from cooking up a storm in the well equipped, gourmet cottage kitchen, and just want to order a hand made pizza from a wood burning oven, Marco Trattoria an Italian restaurant is only a five minute walk, ( 1 min by car ) one block away on Main street, next to Hobnob. If you or the kids have a sweet tooth, there are at least two iced-cream shops nearby, one 'Downtown Chocolates' is next to the Square Root.
You can walk to several grocery stores that are close by, but four minutes in the car to Ingles, and you can avoid lugging that delicious sliced ham home.
The weekly farmers market every Saturday in summer is a must do destination for the serious cultural browser, located just off East Main Street, near Quotations Coffee Cafe, a 12 minute walk ...... past the court house. Bring your dog so he or she can meet all the other dogs who brought their owners to be market! If you are not there on a Saturday, the region boasts a huge farmers market where every chef worth their salt will be found. This is Asheville's WNC Farmers Market, and is detailed in our cottage handbook for visitors which you receive with your access instructions when you have booked.
If horse riding and waterfalls is your thing, visit Shoal Creek Horse Farm for a guided ride through the Dupont State Forest (23 minutes away) on a friendly horse...I rode Joker, my nine year old daughter rode Duke (say hi for us) winter or summer.....check the handbook for contact details. You can visit some of the spectacular waterfalls such as Bridal Veil Falls, High Falls, Hooker Falls and Triple Falls to name a few while in Dupont State Forest.....a truly spectacular natural resource.
Speaking of quaint little towns, downtown Asheville is only 46 minutes away, and is a wonderful place to visit. There is a phenomenal Antique Tobacco Barn there too that is worth exploring. As you look around our brevard cottage, you will see a few items from the Antique Tobacco barn.
With five national and state parks nearby, there is an endless potential for sightseeing, hiking, day tripping, biking and watersports such as tubing, white water rafting and fishing in the surrounding area.
The area also boasts a vibrant music scene, and know that the cottage is located near the road to the Brevard Music Center.
Every surface in our Brevard Cottage is new and state of the art from the seamless shower enclosures to the gourmet kitchen and natural gas fireplace.
There is truly something for everyone in Brevard, and we hope you come and stay in our downtown cottage!

My husband and I visited with our two dogs. The house was just as nice as in the photos and description. The backyard was great for the dogs, and the hot tub was great for us! Location is an easy walk to Main Street and driveable/near many hikes and scenic spots. Don’t miss the Wild Morel ( 5 minute walk) for dinner. We loved the scallops and the trout!

Comfortable cottage very close to town. We appreciated the accommodations for our two dogs. Great spot for getting around to all the local attractions!

The proximity to Brevard College was great the actual neighborhood was very disappointing. The adjacent run down homes were horrible yo look at and the new construction at end of street was loud at times. We understand how the area is renovating but need to let people know it is a less than desirable neighborhood but the house inside was great and Ashley is wonderful. Might be time for new furniture while it looks great the couch and chairs are hard to get out of as you si k down on them.

Nice cozy home in a neighborhood very close to downtown Brevard. We enjoyed walking to town to visit the many great restaurants and shops and driving to the mountains to hike. The house is well equipped and has comfortable beds.

This property was laid out exactly as advertised and worked for our group of 5 adults for a long weekend visit in Brevard. We have stayed in several rentals in Brevard the last several years. This
one needs some love and attention!
The outside deck was totally unusable. We had seen several comments on previous reviews about how old/dirty the outside deck furniture was, but once there, we realized how true those reviews were. It is well past time for that dining table and chairs to be replaced - it has been ignored so long that there was mold and lichen completely covering everything. The hot tub did not seem terribly clean when we contemplated using it either.
The same could be said for the leather sofa and chairs in the living room (so well used that they are difficult to get out of and not comfortable to sit in). All the towels for the bathrooms were discolored and frayed.
Plastic mattress coverings may help protect the matresses, but make for warm, sticky sleeping at night. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms are off balance and make loud noise no matter what setting they're on. The fan light in the twin bedroom was missing 2 of 3 light bulbs.
In the kitchen, many of the pots, pans and dishes were not completely clean and there is no exhaust fan over the stove. Two small plastic ice cube trays in the freezer are not enough for 5 adults.
The batteries in the main smoke detector died on our 2nd day and we couldn't find replacements.
Definitely needs updating.

The inside of the house wa very clean with excellent bathrooms with walk in showers. Adequate supplies.
Outside deck was really unusable because o the poor condition of the deck table and chairs.

The home was clean, beds were comfy. We made good use of the living room space. The check-in system was odd but it worked. The walk to downtown was a bit farther than we anticipated.
As mentioned in reviews, the deck furniture is covered in lichen or something and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The hottub was oddly foamy which our host said was probably a soap issue? An annoying issue that didnt seem a priority for our host was the dining room smoke/carbon dioxide detector started chirping our second night. We removed the batteries and notified the host but no one came to fix it. The next night (4am?) the device began beeping with an added spoken warning. There were no batteries to be found so we disconnected the electrical wires. I notified the host again. He responded but didn't come by to fix the device during our stay.
Brevard is lovely and the options for exploring the beautiful forest are endless!!

Stayed here for a second time this week. John and Ashley are fabulous hosts. They offer theur fantastic property with great communication easy check-in and check out procedures. Stay here as a central location for all the best mountain biking...DuPont, Pisgah, Bent Creek. Come home from a hard day on yhe trails and soak in the hot tub. Then walk into town to any one of the many outstanding restaurants, breweries and shops. The neighborhood is so serene, you'll never know you're a half mile from downtown Brevard. This place has it all. I highly recommend it.

nice easy walk to town, 1/2 mile. could use a second t.v.

Lovely week in Brevard- we spent days working remotely and evenings walking to town for dinner. Quite comfortable bed and updated bathrooms were very nice.

This is a great, well designed, and furnished house. This was our third stay in it. I love being able to walk just a few blocks to the Main St. and several restaurants. They only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the appearance of the neighborhood. But it has been fine and really convenient.
The back yard is fenced with a nice deck, perfect for enjoying the cool evenings - if the owner would replace the deck furniture which is covered with lichen. That is my only complaint. We will return in spite of the deck furniture.

The house is just what we needed. Great location to town which was diatance walking to town. The kitchen and bathrooms were very nice and well decorated. The couches were low and a little difficult to get out of. Could us a new table and chairs on patio, not something I wanted to sit on. Worn out and need cleaning or replacing. Hot tub was awesome. Bushes are very high in front could be trimmed to have better site when exiting driveway.
Would stay here again.

Great house, good communication, location walkable to downtown and within striking distance of Pisgah and DuPont. Thanks very much! (We even saw a white squirrel in the backyard!)

Beautiful home in a perfect location, walking distance to town. Hot tub and back deck were a great addition! Communication with owner was easy and everything as advertised. Excellent place to stay for vacation...good shoppers, food, breweries and hiking all right there.

We had a great time staying in Brevard this weekend. The house was located close to town and would be super walkable in the warmer months. Well appointed and made a great home base for us as we ventured out each day! Would highly recommend and we will be back for sure! Thanks so much for being a wonderful host!

The house was great! Location is ideal for exploring Brevard.

Close to town, very open layout. Furniture needs some updating, couch not very comfortable and hard to get out of. Nice kitchen, just missing some cooking accessories if you are families who do some cooking, baking while vacationing. Very nice updated bathrooms, particularly the king bedroom…..loved the unusual door to the bathroom. Neighborhood very quiet and enjoyed the hot tub!

My fiance and I stayed here so we could explore asheville and hike around the area. The house has everything you need and was very nice and clean with easy check in. We Loved having a hot tub and a grill.

My husband and I came from Athens Ga to get away and celebrate our anniversary! We had such a great time. Wonderful location, such good recommendations on restaurants! Square Root is the favorite. We will definitely be back. The owners were so easy to deal with. Thanks for everything.

I really loved the house overall, but was a bit surprised by how small it looked from the outside. Inside, it really was spacious. Everything was perfectly maintained including the fenced backyard.
I wish the property owners had updated the TV instructions because the equipment had changed and didn’t look like the pictures they provided. It took a while but we figured out how to use their streaming services. Wi-Fi worked great.

From the first booking through the last communication it was all excellent. Brevard Cottage isn’t fancy but it was perfect for two weeks of Grandma Camp. My grandsons and I relaxed, Enjoyed being able to walk to town, walk to the grocery store, walk to restaurants, and drive to so many activities. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening we could hear music from the Lumberyard Art District nearby, but otherwise the neighborhood was amazingly quiet. This home had everything we needed and I wish I could have stayed longer. The weather was cooler than back home and such a welcome break from summer’s heat. Our hosts were quick to respond to all communications and were so helpful. When I realized I had left my prescription meds in the bathroom they offered to mail them to me. SO KIND!

Very clean, just as pictured. Good communication with property manager. Just two blocks from Brevard Main St so very walkable.
It would be nice to have usable deck furniture! But everything else was perfect.

Johnson’s vacation
This rental was centrally located to Brevard in a quiet neighborhood. It was obviously recently renovated and very clean. We enjoyed our stay. Our dogs loved the backyard. I personally loved the hot tub. We hope to return in the future.

Brevard House By Main Street
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at this house in Brevard. Plenty of room for 3 couples. Everything we needed was provided. We walked in to town on Main Street and enjoyed shopping and stopping for lunch. There are so many places to eat very close by.
The owner is very responsive to any issues.

My wife and I spent a long weekend here with our dog. What a lovely little home, that’s just a few blocks from downtown. Most everything we did was walkable. The house was well kept, the the fenced backyard and hot tub were huge pluses for us! Jonathan had great communication and was available if we needed anything.

Beautiful home on the inside, and perfect for two sets of friends. We’ve stayed on all corners of downtown area and this was the most convenient. Very nice and helpful owners. Highly recommend.

Brevard Cottage is the perfect spot to spend time in the charming town. A short walk to “downtown” and a quick drive to grocery shopping, it’s amazingly convenient. The open space is great for gathering, and the kitchen is better stocked with cooking pans and utensils than many VRBOs. So many trails, so close to anything you’d want to do in Brevard.

This property was exactly as promised. Everything functioned properly, and we particularly liked the gas fireplace, especially when the temp dipped into the 20s!
The neighborhood is old and a few houses are a bit "sketchy," but we had no trouble, and the short walk to wonderful downtown Brevard more than made up for it!!

Brevard is my hometown, so staying somewhere other than the childhood home was a little tough. However, Brevard Cottage made us feel at home. We were welcomed by two white squirrels playing in the yard and lots of gorgeous fall colors. We couldn't have asked for a better welcoming committee! The cottage itself is probably the cleanest I have ever rented. The hosts makes sure you have everything you need and were very responsive to questions. Great location. Loved being close to downtown. Thanks for a great getaway!
