Had a wonderful week! The home was well outfitted with lots of cookware/kitchen items. Loved the firepit/dock area! Only negative comment was we were in town during a hot spell and could have used a few more fans.

I would happily stay there again.

We were seeing great weather shaping up in Rangeley for Labor Day weekend, so we emailed M&F with a week's notice to request a quiet and private waterfront rental for my wife and our pet... and yet again, they did not disappoint. They responded back with a few options and 23 Dolman was the one we selected. We had a fantastic time there!
Having only rented on Rangeley Lake and Mooselook in the past, we were very happy with Dodge Pond. It's big enough for boats and personal watercraft but camps are spread out and the water was always calm even when the wind picked up. The property is as-described and photographed. The three levels and multiple bedrooms would make it great for a big family to stay and was more than enough space for us. The wrap-around deck was amazing to grill on, lounge on and enjoy the pond view. The property has a somewhat steep grade to the pond's edge but was only about 50 yards from the house, so it wasn't too difficult, just need to watch your footing on damp grass. The shore has both a sturdy dock and a nice walk out area to swim.
If you want privacy, this is the place. The property is very large and we could not see (and could barely hear) activity at the camps on either side of us. The opposite shore has camps but they are far enough away that you felt secluded from them as well. We were perfectly situated halfway between Rangeley and Oquossoc, so you were less than 10 minutes from both. It didn't matter though as we felt no need to leave the property... just hung out on the deck and the dock.
It is obvious that the owners of the home take very good care of the place and instructions by them and M&F were very clear on how to operate it. The owners also left a wonderful list of things to do and guided us on what we could invite ourselves to do and use in the home. It was a really nice touch and made us feel welcomed. The renovated kitchen was fantastic and they had everything a cook would need. The oversized fireplace made us kinda wish it was cold enough for a fire! They have a huge woodshed where there was plenty of seasoned logs for a campfire in the outdoor fire pit.
If there's any drawbacks to the home, the windows and doors are on the older side, so opening and closing them was sometimes a challenge. Also, you are relatively close to Route 4/16, so while the hum of road noise is audible from the outdoors, we did not hear it inside the house. But the proximity to the towns made it worth it.
Bottom line... we had an amazing time at 23 Dolman and while we only had a long weekend to enjoy it, we will definitely consider coming back for our 1 and 2 week summer stays if it's available... we can't wait to come back!

Everything about the house and location met our expectations and we enjoyed swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking, local concerts, shops, and restaurants nearby. The area is beautiful and people are friendly! We love coming to Rangeley each summer.

Happy Days on the lake
Had a week of great weather and happy days. This was our 2nd time renting 23 Dolman. A comfy lake house with everything one would need. The new kitchen upgrades look and worked nicely. Fully outfitted. Both bathrooms worked better this summer and a nice new shower! Great location so easy to run off for errands and restaurants. Lake is quiet and perfect for kayak and canoeing. Appreciate it is a dog friendly home. Many memorable moments. Thank you!
Only critiques/drawbacks: the mattress quality. Very hard mattress and squeaking bedsteads made it difficult to have a solid night sleep.
The steep hillside to the water is difficult for some and the elderly
Overall we enjoyed our time once again and highly recommend it. Morton & Furbish does a nice job communicating and is very responsive with any requests or questions.

Our family of a Grandma, 2 teens, 2 adults stayed very comfortably for 3 nights. The house was very clean and cozy and quiet. The house has a wonderful fishing theme and is well loved. A big stone fireplace provided much warmth and ambience at night. The small kitchen was fine for a short stay and well equipped with everything we needed. The location is convenient to town and skiing. The assortment of books and games was vast!! Finally, everything worked!

Family cabin on the water
This is 21st year we rented in Rangeley. We expected to enjoy a quiet week canoeing on the warmer waters of Dodge Pond with the loons. The loons were there every day but so was the noisy traffic on Rt4. This cabin is perfect for a family; plush soft new carpet throughout, two separate upstairs bedrooms and bunkbeds with their own bathroom and a long loft space for a play area. We spent every night in the living room in front of the stunning stone fireplace that draws perfectly! There is a little nook area with a wide assortment of video's for movie night too. The basement has lots of board games, it's own couch and seating for the older kids who want their own space. We did appreciate the extensive spices, coffee, rice, etc. in the panty however the kitchen needs serious updating. The layout was for 1 person to cook, the 4 burner was only 3 working burners and when you used the microwave a fuse would pop. Master bedroom has a good Queen mattress but the MB bathroom needs gutting. How easy would it be to punch out the MB closet and make a walk-in tiled shower? A wonderful vacation home that needs a facelift for the price we paid.

Cozy stay on the lake
This was a perfect place for a much needed week away from it all. We loved the rustic, homey feel of Amalaran: it felt personalized and well loved, yet well kept, functional, and clean. The fireplace was an inviting spot to spend a winter afternoon/evening, and the kitchen was a fun place to make a warm meal. We were able to bring our pet yorkie with us, which made it all the more enjoyable.
The location was great for access to lakes and trails, and it was just a short drive to Saddleback. It would probably also be an easy drive to Black Mountain. We'll definitely consider coming back to Amalaran, thank you for the great stay!

Peaceful spot
This home is nicely located with one great room for gathering and playing games. The easy access to the lake, boating, swimming combined with a deck for viewing makes it peaceful and inviting. It definitely needs some upgrades, from doors that are hard to close to a lower level that is too damp for easy living. Still, we had a very nice time and enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyable stay! Suggest to improve bathrooms.
We were looking for a pet friendly getaway from Boston during the pandemic. This cabin was really nice and gave us a wonderful recharge. The lake itself sits in a bowl shaped valley which acts as a kind of amphitheater for any sounds. When it's the family of 8 loons calling, it's pure magic. Unfortunately, we had no luck with the fishing, but did spend many peaceful hours sitting on the water and paddling around with their canoes. The reason we give this property 4 stars instead of 5 is the bathrooms need updating. They don't have any ventilation, so the condensed moisture over the years has caused some "issues". There was also some odors in the second floor bathroom that needs to be addressed. We found a candle and used that to mask the odor. A few minor investments from the owners and this would easily be a 5 star rating.

M&F Staff Super Helpful
Amaralan is a private location on a beautiful small lake. We were serenaded by loons, saw baby mergansers and black ducks and caught crayfish! The house is well furnished. We had a 2 and 6 yr. old with us...everything was fine for the 6 yr old but the house was a bit challenging in our efforts to keep the 2 yr old safe. The stairs are narrow and steep but mostly the railings on the stairs and upstairs balcony were not designed to contain toddlers. We had brought extra gates and fencing and ended up using it all. Just a heads up on that. There was a nice gravelly entrance into the lake for the kids but it would have been nice to have a ladder from the dock into the lake. There was one there but it was broken. Must give a shout out to the staff at Morton & Furbish. This is our second rental with them and they are always prompt and very helpful. By the way, we did not request the linen package but when we arrived all the linens were on the beds, etc. This also happened during our June rental. In June I just took everything off but this time I did not have time to do this as we had little ones to prepare supper for and get ready for bed. Seems there might be a communication issue between the office and housekeeping staff. Thanks for a great time and the meteor shower from the deck at night was awesome!

Great Cozy place
All our guests loved the place. The living room area was plenty big enough for all 8 guests to be comfortable hanging out and enjoying the company. Also, a big plus was the wrap around driveway near the house. This made it easy to park and move around all our vehicles.
Thank you guys!

Visited October 1-6, 2018 during peak foliage and the Rangeley area couldn't have been nicer.Negatives: the cabin was damp with a pervasive musty odor and gross mildew in the downstairs bathroom. Deck was nice, but not much of a view. Traffic noise from nearby highway was distracting. Access to the water was difficult and it prevented us from using one of the available canoes.Positives: isolated and private. Close to nearby restaurants. We liked especially Loon Lodge. Had lobsters at cabin one night steamed for us at Oquossoc Grocery along with tasty sides. Kitchen well stocked. Very nicely decorated. A wonderful fireplace with an ample supply of firewood.

Unadulterated Peace
I live in Concord nh an a busy street and this was the best vacation my dogs and I could take. No stress of the every day chores just relaxation with all I needed. The place is well stocked with all the kitchen stuff, games, internet and TV. I work from home via the internet so this was perfect for me. Got some good cardio climbing the hill after being at the water. The dogs and I were there mostly alone but a few friends did stop by for a few days and they as well were pleased with their stays as well. Laundry facility was also appreciated. The pantry has some basics and what was missing I purchased and left some items for others to enjoy.

Well-equipped Comfortable Stay
The house sits above Dodge Pond providing a lovely view from the wrap-around porch. Flowers on the railing attract hummingbirds while eagles, loons, and woodpeckers complement the attraction. The clean and roomy house was well-equipped for anyone who enjoys cooking. The bathrooms are a bit dated with small awkward-to-use showers. The walk down to the pond is quite steep; use of the fire pit at water's edge was not used because of that. It was a lovely two weeks.

Loved the property. We did move firepit to the driveway and moved it back when we left. Porch is amazing and we sat and played cornhole for hours.

Five stars!
We found this vacation rental to be welcoming, charming and very convenient! It has a great deck and view of Dodge Pond. We could canoe, fish, swim and enjoy the loons and the ducks! The rental made for a wonderful, restful week of vacation. The towns of Rangeley and Oquossoc were also very welcoming. We particularly enjoyed eating at the Bald Mountain Camp and the Red Onion!
