About this apartment rental
Our Gayfield Square apartment is our fabulous two bedroom property situated in a fantastic position, right in the heart of our wonderful historic city. In fact you couldn't get better - the apartment is located on a beautiful leafy square in the elegant Georgian New Town. Residential and quiet, yet just a few minutes walk (about seven) from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street and George Street and from there easily accessible to the castle and Royal Mile. Moreover, we're just round the corner from the bustling Broughton Street area with its great selection of restaurants, cafes and bars as well as some lovely 'local' and quirky shops (the best butcher/general store in town, great health food store, Skandi bakery and fishmonger to name a few!).
We are now fully licensed for short term vacation letting via our local council- now a requirement for all properties in Scotland after new health and safety standards were formalised recently.
The apartment is typical in design for its era, dating back as far as 1820, and built with the grandeur that represents Georgian architecture in its prime. It's also quite a one off with its own private entrance, private front garden and back patio (very unusual for a property in such a central location of Edinburgh). The entire apartment is on the ground floor with only one step up into the front garden so is very accessible for those who have difficulty in managing stairs.
Interior style is sophisticated, contemporary and calming with a lovely blend of old and new.
The main sitting room is a very spacious 16 x 13 feet with beautiful decorative fireplace, ornate cornice work and double windows with views to the front gardens and square beyond. Furniture comprises a comfortable sofa and contemporary Barcelona chair both in white leather as well as two antique gilt chairs upholstered in a bold print motif. Original art pieces hang on the walls throughout the property.
The bedrooms are quietly located with cosy European king sized leather bed in one and white wooden Georgian style bed in the other, again European king sized. Wall coverings are in calming taupe and pale mocca colours.
One bedroom is serviced by an en suite shower room with walk in shower with chocolate leather effect tiling. The other is serviced by the main bathroom with corner bath and shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped - a large range cooker/oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer - a great cook's kitchen as well as being a very sociable space to sit round the large black granite kitchen table whilst you eat or watch the cook at work! French windows from the kitchen open up to the back patio/sitting area.
We also supply a complete pack in the apartment which will guide you through how to use everything and also a great guide to our favourite restaurants, cafes, shops and top tips on things not to miss out on while you're visiting. Wifi internet access is available throughout the apartment.
We think we've created the ideal retreat to explore our wonderful city- we really hope you'll agree if you come and stay with us!

The property is exactly what you see in the photos. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere and only used Uber a couple of times. There are lovely restaurants and bars right around the corner. After a long day of touring it was nice to come home for a bit, have a drink then walk a short distance to dinner. The host was so friendly and helpful. The apartment was perfect for 2 couples and very comfortable. There were supplies there including milk in refrigerator and homemade cookies waiting for us. I just can’t say enough about how perfect the property is!!

Interaction with owner was fabulous. Attention to detail in this quaint home was impressive. For us - who didn’t have a car - location was important and this home was centrally located where most places we wanted to visit (sites, gardens, shops and restaurants) were mostly less than a 2-mile walk away. Next to a police station (don’t worry, no sirens!) which made us feel safe. Host was lovely and caring.

The place was just a lovely as shown in the pictures. The host provided all sorts of amenities (lotion, shampoo, conditioner, coffee, tea). The homemade short bread was exceptional. The host was also very good about communicating when the place would be ready for check-in. Many restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again next time in Edinburgh.

It’s hard to top the other reviews - they all pretty much nail it.
We tend to stay mostly in VRBOs when we travel as we find it’s easier with our young children (7 and 11)…we’ve stayed in maybe 20-25 over the years and this is the nicest property we’ve been in…by far.
Communication with Robin was top notch and so helpful. It’s clear he cares deeply for his home and his visitors - not a single detail is overlooked. I could honestly go on for ages - it was that nice.
We found it close enough to all the tourist hot spots - but far enough away to find some peace and quiet.
If you’re driving in - make sure and let Robin know - he may be able to arrange a parking spot which is very helpful.

Perfect location - right beside the police station and just around the corner from the super Valvona & Crolla deli. Easy access to restaurants and bars around the corner. House had everything as described, wonderful beds and a peaceful vibe.

Can't say enough great things about the place and Robin as a host. I can honestly say that the place seated our expectations and I recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh to consider this if available. Robin met us at the House and gave us a thorough tour along with restaurant recommendations, site locations etc. thanks Robin for an outstanding time

This beautiful property was perfect for our one week stay. The host has provided absolutely everything you need to immediately feel at home! The house was very clean plus the beds and furniture were very comfortable. He also responded quickly to all inquiries regardless the subject. The house is in a quiet, picturesque neighborhood located within easy walking distance to the major tourist attractions and shopping in Edinburgh. There are no negatives with this property. You’ll love it!

Robin is a 5 star host. Property was difficult to find but worth it!

We enjoyed three nights at this very large, nicely decorated, conveniently located home. It is well stocked with several personal touches including treats and toiletries for guests. Close to good restaurants, grocery and retail stores as well as the Royal Mile.
One of the two bedrooms has a raised platform which the bed sits on. It is about a 7” step down to the main floor. You just need to be very aware of this during the night if you need to get up as it could be a hazard. We just kept the bathroom light on so we wouldn’t misstep, fall and injure ourselves.

This is a stellar property in the perfect location. This home is lovely - clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and equipped. It is set in a little jewel box of a garden right near a village green and a police station (quiet). It is located just around the corner from the busy high street with convenient access to dining options and within walking distance to MANY tourist attractions. Robin is a warm and attentive host. He left us homemade shortbread and a bottle of fizz. The property's guide book offers a plethora of practical and fun ideas for getting the most out of a stay in Edinburgh.

The location was central, easy to get around from, very walkable and just perfect! I would highly recommend this perfect property!

The flat was everything and more that was listed. We spent a lovely 2 weeks there. The location was perfect walking distance to buses, trains and restaurants and shops. We came to Edinburgh for the Hogmanay celebration and wanted to stay close to the festivities. This was a great location, close to restaurants and pubs, also a short taxi ride to most points of interest. The house was very comfortable, plenty of the daily need, dishes, towels etc. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend this property for a stay in Edinburgh. The owner was very responsive and helpful with any questions to meet our needs.

We love staying at Robin's flat. The location is ideal and so much better now that the construction on Leith Walk is complete. Easy walk from tram. Flat is fully stocked with all equipment we need for comfortable self-catering. Delighted with the bottle of fizz and yummy shortbread left by our host. Our favorite accommodation when we visit Edinburgh.

Wonderful apartment located close to the center of the city but tucked away on a quiet street. Property has everything you need and is clean, comfortable and warm, perfect for chilly fall nights. Robin was very helpful and proactive checking in with us to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed. Lots of good recommendations from both the owner and prior guests.

We loved our stay in Robin’s apartment in Gayfield square. It’s wonderful inside, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, nice and warm, and lots of supplies in the kitchen as well. The kitchen overall is very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Lovely to have milk and prosecco in the fridge, and also sweets and delicious home made shortbread!
The location is excellent too - at the quiet end of the square, yet just a couple of minutes walk to a wide choice of restaurants, plus the buses and trams, and only a ten minute walk from the train station as well.
Highly recommended, this is definitely my first choice of places to stay in Edinburgh.

My step son is at the University of Edinburgh for his semester abroad. This apartment was perfect for us—two bedrooms, two baths. He was able to get away from the dorms for a few nights. The property is spotless, fully appointed with every detail you can imagine. We cooked and ate in a few nights. The beds and linens are amazing. The property is in a great central location—we walked everywhere. The neighborhood is safe and the property secure—very quiet with a beautiful park across the street. I would absolutely stay here again. Robin is a wonderful and attentive host—he kept checking in to be sure we had everything we needed. I have already recommended this property to my friends who want to visit Edinburgh. I will definitely return. Thank you, Robin!!

We spent 5 nights herein late October; the location of the flat meant that we had easy access to everything that Edinburgh had to offer; climbing Arthur’s Seat, going to the old town as well as shopping. We also got the tram over to the West End and walked down to Dean Village and the back to the flat. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well.
The flat is very comfortable and has everything that we needed; communication with the owner was first class, they always replied to our questions by text or on the Vrbo chat.
We had a great time

We were 2 couples spending 5 days in Edinburgh after a visit to Skye. The condo was ideally located within walking distance of the train station, shopping, restaurants, and pretty much all the sights of this beautiful historic city. No complaints and would absolutely stay again. I should mention the layout allows for good privacy if you are travelling with friends. Thank you Robin!
