About this cottage rental
Pinelodge Cottage is a waterfront cottage with two bedrooms, living room/dining area, fully equipped kitchen and bath with shower. There is a queen size bed in one bedroom and two twins in the other.
Step through the sliding glass doors in the living room on to a large deck with comfortable seating and a spectacular view of Blue Hill Bay.
Our home and cottages are located on seven acres of land and 500 feet of bold granite and stone beach shoreline with a southwesterly exposure on Blue Hill Bay in the coastal village of West Tremont. Our location is exceptionally private, decidedly un-commercial, and yet convenient to the facilities of the surrounding towns including Bar Harbor. While we enjoy living in the relative quiet of the western side of Mt. Desert, the amenities of Acadia National Park are nearly at our back door. You can get to parts of the park within 10 minutes and to Bar Harbor in about 30 minutes.
Please come, relax & enjoy the quiet with us whether you need a lovely private honeymoon cottage or just a peaceful getaway. You will find our rates competitive and our setting incomparable.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1) Our housekeeping cottage is smoke free. No smoking inside the cottage at all times.
2) We have excellent wifi using 200 Mbs Spectrum Cable Modem Connection
3) We now have high definition television with Roku.
4) We enjoy pets enormously, but have found that pets are frequently unhappy in unfamiliar surroundings. We do have returning tenants who have allergies too. We regrettably have concluded that we can not accommodate any pets.
5) We do limit the number of people to four, including infants, no exceptions, please

We had a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful stay, a retreat! What we especially enjoyed most was that when we desired, we could go visit all the busier locations ie. beautiful Acadia and Bar Harbor which were close by yet come back to this beautiful little cottage and relax.
Our host could not have been more generous and helpful. This beautiful little cottage itself has everything you would require for a sort or long stay. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed all of them tremendously and we certainly would come back again

Wonderful hosts, a great house, and an incredible setting. A classic Maine cottage with perfect views of the sea. Great location with a short drive to southwest harbor. We stayed with 2 young children and had a great time visiting Acadia, friends in southwest harbor, and visiting Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor. The house was clean, well appointed, and the view is perfection. Would rent here again on next visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week by the water. It was definitely the quiet side of the island. We have come to MDI for many years however this was the first time on the water and we could have just sat on the deck the entire time and been happy. Never been anywhere so peaceful. The cottage was clean and comfortable and Kathleen was very nice. The cottages are landscaped so you don't see the other cottages easily. We hope to return.

Kathleen greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything that we needed and told us a bit about the area. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to return. The bay is beautiful and it is great to be able to watch the ducks, and the lobster boats. We saw a doe and her fawn on the lawn a couple of times. The area is quiet and all of the activity of Acadia NP is easily reached from there.

We had a lovely stay at this property. The owner is on the property but was not intrusive at all. The property had a beautiful view and a short path to the rocky beach which was a nice spot to watch the sunset - bring mosquito spray. The property had all amenities needed to cook nice meals - we had a lobster boil - there was a place selling live lobsters cheap just past all the outside seafood establishments on the way into the island. The bedrooms were comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. There was no AC so if it is hot you may want to bring an extra fan (there was one there). A cozy fire was available for cool nights. Don’t forget to visit Bass Harbor light which was 5 minutes away. It took about 25 minutes to get to the road for Cadillac mountain.

The owners are responsive and helpful. We will continue to come back

My husband and I booked PineLodge for the first week of our Maine adventure this year. We love the quiet side of the island and this property was a wonderful way to disconnect, relax and set the tone for the rest of our trip. The property was very clean, comfortable (the water pressure in the shower is likely the “best shower” my husband has had while visiting the island 😁 and that says something considering he has been visiting for 50+ yrs) and has incredible ocean views. We loved being able to eat out on the back deck, sitting in the shade of the trees reading a book, and seeing the lovely deer and her fawns in the morning. We would certainly stay here again!
The only drawback we found were the carpenter ants that we were finding in the cabin (however, we bugs are normal when coming to Maine, so this wasn’t completely unexpected for us).

Everything we wanted from our stay in Acadia National Park. Cabin away from the high populated areas with direct access to the ocean and amazing hospitality.

Quiet, cozy and close to the water
This property was as advertised and exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean and comfortable. The owners have taken good care of the house and made some updates, including tankless hot water system which worked great! The view from the deck was great and the path to the beach was easy. We took great pictures of the rocky beach and coastline both morning and evening. The owners were next door but there was plenty of privacy and they were available by text if we had questions. We were about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor but found several small businesses closer to us with good food and shopping. We really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this house. We would definitely try to schedule it on a return trip to ME!

Lovely cottage with views
Set on a lovely, quiet property, Pinelodge makes the most of its ocean and sunset views. The house is part of a compound of several cottages, but is very peaceful. The house is clean and tastefully decorated, with lots of natural light and a convenient deck overlooking the water, and a nearby path down to the rocky beach, complete with Adirondack chairs. It has an easy layout, with a comfy bed and nice linens and a kitchen stocked with cooking implements. We were there in October, and the house was toasty (there are very clear signs posted about how to use the gas fireplace); the only minor downside was the living room furniture, which wasn’t very comfortable after an hour or so, but we just moved over to the dining table. As for any rental, if you are fragrance sensitive, bring your own soaps.

Beautiful location, Friendly hosts
We enjoyed waking up and seeing the water less than 100 ft away. The hosts (Jay & Kathy) were there to answer our questions and even brought over buy spray and fresh towels. Comfortable queen size bed with nice linens. Shower was small but lots of hot water. At the end of the day, it was so nice to come back to the “Quiet side” to rest up for our adventure the next day.

Sweet Cottage Accessible to Acadia but Lovely & Quiet
Our stay was nice and I do recommend this cottage (location/view superb) and perfect for a couple or couple with small child(ren). Although kitchen well-stocked with cookware and plates, no spices other than salt/pepper provided and no charcoal grill lighter fluid (grill also fairly rusted), no alum foil (things we've always been provided in other house rentals). Deck and view and privacy all excellent even though owner's home next door and another cottage close by (but didn't impact privacy). We were permitted entry after 5 pm (6 pm seemed late on first day) but a 4 pm would have been preferred (to allow time to settle/unpack and prepare dinner). Lovely part of Maine, we loved Seafood Ketch's dock (good food, stellar sunset which isn't possible at Thurston's). The kayaking 17 min away on part of Long Pond lovely. Sunset sail nice on Sail Acadia but we liked the Nature Cruise out of Bass Harbor even more (harbor seals, porpoises).

Wonderful and quite place.
House itself exceptionally clean! First time we stayed somewhere and I didn't feel uncomfortable with sheets or a toilet cleanness ( super clean A+).
Good : Location, house cleanness and charm, you can go to the ocean in the morning ,it's all yours.
Little Cons : host's windows at near by cottage starring right at the back yard and bedroom windows, no washer or dryer, barbeque grill rusted and falling apart.
Over all we had a wonderful time with a lot of memories to take home !

Great Getaway Cittage
If you’re looking for a cottage on the Sound on the “Quiet Side” of Mt. Desert Island, this place I’d for you. Wake to looks calling and a spectacular view. Minutes from Arcadia NP.

Quaint cottage with beautiful views
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage overlooking Blue Hill Bay!
Kathy and her husband were very accommodating and helpful. It was
very comfortable especially the queen size bed. You could see amazing views of the bay from the living room and the patio. There was a path down to a small beach with stones where tidal pools collected. We loved the quietness after returning from a day in Bar Harbor. We hiked the trails nearby Ship Harbor and Wonderland - easy with wonderful
views at the end of the trails! Also we hiked the other trails around Acadia Park about 20 min away.
We would definitely recommend to family and friends!

Perfect spot on the ocean
Loved our stay. It was a great location, clean and cozy. Kids thought it was magical. Sunsets were perfect. We went hiking in Acadia every day. Can't wait to return. Pro tip: Pillows are a bit hard so if you're picky about that, bring your own.

Perfect waterfront cottage
Lovely, comfortable cottage in a quiet, secluded setting with spectacular views from the deck and the bedroom. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the cottage was thoughtfully furnished. It was exactly what we wanted. Thank you, Kathy and Jay!

Stunning location
The location is lovely - right on the water on the quiet side of the island. There are other buildings nearby but we didn't find that this took away from our enjoyment of the place and our time there. The house is simple but is outfitted with everything you need, including lobster fixings in true Maine fashion. The only issue was around the communication with the host such that there was a mix-up with another family when we arrived at the house. We were able to resolve the issue quickly and the host was very apologetic about this the next day and said she will try to be clearer in the future.

Relaxing week!
We had a wonderful, relaxing week in Maine. Kathleen’s cottage was the perfect place for our trip. It was quiet, scenic and peaceful. Due to the concerns with Covid, we brought most of our food with us, except for the daily lobster pick up!
The cottage was close enough to Acadia that we were able to take our bikes into the carriage roads to ride.
Thank you, Kathleen for providing such a lovely haven from the world!!!

Classic Maine cottage with a beautiful ocean view
We had a fantastic week at this cottage in a private and lovely area on Mt. Desert Island. It was a cozy cottage for two adults with two college age children, but it provided us with everything we could have needed. The setting is spectacular with an iconic rocky coast that is accessible via a small path off of the backyard. Lobster buoys dot the water and you can watch the fisherman hauling up their traps every morning. We could access Acadia easily and enjoyed the nearby, quaint towns of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bernard.
Kathy and Jay are excellent hosts. We asked to borrow a few beach towels to take to Sand Beach and Echo Lake and they were happy to provide them for us. Overall, a great experience.

Perfect little cottage in a beautiful setting
We absolutely loved our week in the Pine Lodge Cottage (early July). It was very clean, very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was equipped with almost every thing one could need (except kitchen shears), including a clean and modern refrigerator, coffee maker, and stove/oven, and it had enough counter space that it was easy to cook. Plenty of pretty dishes, bowls, flatware, serving ware, etc. The bedrooms had plenty of storage (closets, dressers), and the mattresses were all comfortable. Lovely bedspreads, soft blankets, nice quality sheets. The living room had two nice armchairs that were perfect for crawling up with a book, and the large sliding class door provided a beautiful view of the water from anywhere in the living room/dining room. The bathroom was a good size, and nicely decorated as well, with a pretty little shelving unit provided for toiletries and plenty of space to hang wet towels. The shower box was definitely small (difficult if you are a larger person), but the water pressure was excellent and there was plenty of hot water.
The cottage itself was very bright and airy with beautiful views of the bay. We loved sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning and evening. The TV worked well, as did the heat on chilly nights (there are 2 heating units, one on each side of the cottage). Nice quality towels, dish towels and bathroom rugs were provided, clean in a laundry basket. Also provided were dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels. Kathy really thought of everything (and was very welcoming and available for questions at any time.) Location: lovely! There is a short path that leads to the rocky coast where we spent hours looking at the beautiful view, reading and simply watching the tide come in and out at different hours. The kids loved searching for treasures in low tide and skipped rocks. The location itself was a vacation without having to leave the house area! It is 10 minutes to Southwest Harbor where there are some nice shops and restaurants, as well as a laundromat (which we did not use) and a well stocked local supermarket. Only 8 minutes to the Ship Harbor trail which was a lovely easy hike, and about the same to Thurston's Lobster Pound where we had a great lunch with a beautiful view of the fishing boats. So, yes, we 100% recommend this cottage!

Great vacation
The cottage was clean and had everything we needed! We often cooked there to save money which worked out well. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The location was quiet and beautiful. We loved be able to look out the windows in the bedrooms and living room right onto the ocean! It was about 35 min to bar harbor and Acadia. I wish it were just a little closer, but there was also a road closed during the week were were there and if it were open it would have been a shorter drive.

Beautiful view!
If you enjoy quiet and star watching, you will enjoy this cottage. Kathy will take good care of you. She was even concerned that we would miss our flight home!
The best spot is on the deck, with your feet up on the bench , a good book, a cup of coffee, and the fabulous view.
The shower is very small, but that is the only negative.
My husband and I recommend this cottage very highly.
Thank you Kathy!!

Beautiful Scenery and Great place to unwind
This cottage was extremely clean and comfortable on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the cove. Our kids loved playing on the rocky beach and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the Quietside. Kathleen, the owner was available and hospitable but not at all obtrusive. We would highly recommend.

Wonderful Maine cottage with a great view and small beach access
We loved our time. Owners were next door but everything was perfect so we did not need them. Loved the “quiet side “ of the island. Calottage small but pe Feit for a couple or small family. Kitchen had everything needed to make lobster or mussels at home too.
Kids even went to the beach as access was a quick step down. Would
Highly recommend

I love this place and have visited three or four times for a month each visit. I rented a cottage right on the ocean. The place was clean and well maintained. Kathy and Jay, the owners, were very helpful. I plan on returning.
