The house was comfortable and the fact the owners live next door makes it easy to sort out any problems that do occur. It is in a rather remote location so it is very peaceful but going anywhere requires a car trip. If you are tall (I am 1.90m) you have to be careful of the low doorways on which I banged my head several times. The property is quite well equipped though we did feel the kitchen was missing a few basic items such as a bread knife and some containers to use in the microwave

Lovely views and warm welcome
A well equipped and beautifully located cottage. Good position for visiting Buxton, Chester Zoo and all the Peak District walks. Good Local amenities. Friendly owners on hand for any issues or queries. Easily sleeps 8 (2 double and 2 twin room) and has two lovely hot showers. Plenty space for families!

An excellent well equipped cottage in lovely scenary on outskirts of Whaley Bridge.
An excellent well equipped cottage in lovely scenary on outskirts of Whaley Bridge.
Marked down on local amenities as the Swan pub & restuarant 'within 1 mile' is closed until at least Christmas because of flood damage. For the time being the nearest pubs and dining is in Whaley Bridge two miles away. Best pub is Goyt and best pub for dining Old Hall Inn at Chinley 5 miles away. Best fish n chips is The Fryery near The Goyt pub!
Only minor criticism of cottage is it has no ground floor toilet which, for us, was no problem but could be for some. And the 'hidden' drive exit directly on to the main road is potentially dangerous and must be taken with great care.
We had an excellent week and discovered the wonderful Peak District.

Comfortable cottage with welcoming hosts.
Comfortable cottage with welcoming hosts. Room sizes are good but beware sqeaky floorboards (to be expected in such an old building). Location good and within reasonable distance for lovely towns such as Buxton and Bakewell. Chatsworth House worth a visit.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous hosts who were on hand next door.
Beautiful cottage, fabulous hosts who were on hand next door. Most amazing views across the valley. Lots of fridge space for food and drinks. A great weekend had by all. Just a little difficult to find as google maps which I always rely on have it pinned slightly out!

Lovely cottage, we had a great weekend and even got some snow!
The kitchen facilities weren't amazing - took us a while to figure out the old cooker and dishwasher - but was nice to have things like an extra toaster and a slow cooker.
The showers ran hot and cold and there was an issue with the wifi while we were there but that may be par for the course for the type of location.
Overall a lovely place for the price and we were really happy staying there.
