We used the Moon Inn as a base to visit Chatsworth Christmas Market and we were very pleased with our experience. The room was very comfortable, and we experienced no noise from the outside or bar itself. The rooms are accessed from several outside steps, but these are well lit and there is a handrail where necessary.
The staff without exception were really helpful and friendly, in particular the ladies who served us at dinner and breakfast. The meals themselves were freshly cooked and arrived piping hot at the table. The chef is obviously one to keep as we heard no complaints from neighbouring tables about portion size, choice of menu and the actual taste of the meals people had. Breakfast is big, so much so we did not feel the need to eat again until we arrived back home at around six thirty in the evening!
My wife and I would not hesitate to return here in the future.

Girl behind the bar was lovely
The heating was broken and only a small heater placed in the corner which hadn’t been put on before we arrived so was freezing in the room.
Toilet had been fitted far too close to the sink unit meaning you had to sit at an angle because your knees hit it.
Shower was absolutely dreadful with little to no pressure.
Parking was a bit of an issue also as no defined lines so people just parked where ever.
I felt the room was probably priced double what it should have been

Lovely Room. Comfortable bed. Clean. Breakfast was really good.

Staff were fantastic and the food was really good. The pub is lovely and the location was great for a circular walk to Eyam. We will stay again. Great value for money.
The en-suite wasn't fantastic but you get what you pay for an everything worked. It was clean and had everything we needed.

Homely room, comfortable bed.
Some of the group weren't huge fans of the pizza. Cottage pie was tasty though.

Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Always available and helpful.
Unable to sleep with the window open because of traffic noise. Potentially all the rooms would have the same issue as located on a very busy road, with traffic throughout the whole evening. Deluxe room, pretty standard with very small, windowless en-suit.

It was a lovely, homely place to stay. Loved the rustic feel to the room with all the deer themed accessories.
The room was spacious and clean! Loved the big walk in shower and lovely shampoo, conditioner and body wash included.
Staff were lovely and Josh especially went above and beyond for us. We really appreciated it.
If we didn’t have to get back would have loved to stay for lunch. If we are ever in the area we would definitely stay again or pop in for food.
Thank you :)
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like!

The meal on the Friday night was lovely
The heating broke down and it was not resolved so a very cold start to Saturday. Neither of us had showers as the room was so cold

We liked the family room in the garden. Ideal for our dog too. The beds were very comfortable and the room was modern and spacious.
The bathroom had damp running along skirtings, which made the whole room smell very bad. The hot and cold water in the sink was plumbed the wrong way round and very low pressure with variable hot water. The toilet seat didn't fit and a lightbulb was missing, not replaced until 2nd day and after us chasing it. The heaters in the room were not user friendly. The furniture wasn't screwed together properly and all left over screws, instructions etc.. were left in all the draws. Breakfast was included but a very meagre continental one, this was not stated at time of booking.

lovely pub with good food and nice atmosphere. Comfortable bed, clean and very nice staff.
Had the garden room which smelt a bit damp and bathroom appeared to have a bad a leak. It seemed very expensive for what it was. Breakfast was included but this is the Continental breakfast which was not really clear on the booking and only realised after we had had the breakfast and incurred an extra charge. The village has some lovely walks.

Booking & pre-arrival arrangements were easy.
Warm welcome on arrival included being escorted to our room.
Comfortable bed and room.
Dinners excellent - 2 nights
Breakfasts set us up for both days.
Unable to open the window wider to alleviate the humidity in the room. It was an exceptionally hot weekend.

Plenty of space in room and helpful staff.
Room in Garden room was a little musty smelling. Parking was limited.

Breakfast was continental or upgrade to English. Quality was good and sufficient.
Evening meals served in the pub's dining area were excellent. Menu was varied and the presentation and quality were terrific.
Cleanliness of the room and bedding left a lot to be desired.
Stains on the duvet cover, carpet grubby, every rail on the shower room towel rail was thick of dust and hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Like wise the bathroom extractor fan was clogged with dust making it noisy and probably a fire risk.
Bits and pieces left in the drawers and the bottom of the wardrobe were leftover bit from the unit assembly and should have been removed.;

Breakfast was made to order and was excellent. Pay and order breakfast through pub not on line as booking sites charge a commission. Its my opinion only that rooms and food was a tad expensive but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with visits to Bakewell and Buxton. Plenty of walks for you and your dogs. Overall first class place.

Bed very comfortable, good nights sleep.
Breakfast, not very relaxing, confusing in terms of what we were and we're not allowed to eat, staff not helpful and kept offering top up of cold coffee. It was too early to try and work it all out just wanted to leave.

The food was amazing. Had a lovely fish and chips in the evening, followed by an English breakfast in the morning.

The room was very comfortable. Some of the furniture had doorknobs missing, but nothing too much. The meal in the pub on the Friday evening was delicious and great value. The main bar area is very nice to sit in. Staff were attentive and polite.
We were told we had to pay extra for the cooked breakfast as our fee only included the continental breakfast. This wasn't explained on the booking. A lot of people were caught out by this. The management team explained this was due to Booking.com not letting them list as room only.

Staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent. Lovely thick quilt. Crisp bedding.

The food, both evening meal and breakfast, were very good. The waitress at breakfast was friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful.
Our room was an addition to the main pub building and opened directly onto the path outside. The door had flaking paint and the member of staff that showed us to the room was unable to open it as the key was bent. My husband disappeared off with him and came back with a can of WD40 which seemed to help. The room was described as Deluxe but was Standard at best. It had the usual facilities of a hotel room but had a tired feel about it. The room had only 2 Velux windows so there were no views to be had. In the bathroom the toilet roll holder had come off the wall and not been replaced. The TV remote only partially worked. £140 per night was expensive for the accommodation we had. Prior to our visit we had booked an evening meal for the night we arrived and received confirmation via Booking.com. When we asked to be shown to our table we were told that we had no booking but fortunately a table had just become available. Only 45mins earlier we had spoken to the waitress to move our table back by half an hour - she took our instruction and then denied that she had spoken to us! All very unhelpful and very unprofessional. As mentioned in the ‘likes’ the food was good but we were overcharged. We weren’t able to sort this out while we were there as the pub was locked at checkout time and we had to post the keys through the letter box but it took an email and 2 phone calls before the overcharge was finally refunded. It is a shame as the actual pub seemed very nice but maybe the lack of staff (not just here but everywhere we went were advertising) is taking it’s toll.

Food was excellent in the evening.
We had been led to believe breakfast was included. In the end only continental breakfast was included. Bathroom was a bit small and a bit 'tired' - tile grouting etc. Access the the car park was a bit 'dicey'

Beautiful location and friendly staff and Manager
Silly but the keys to the room were on a key ring that was too heavy! The doors are squeaky difficult to be quiet on an evening!

The room was clean & comfortable, food & service were excellent and staff were polite, helpful, obliging. The 'tattoo artist' who served breakfast is a ray of sunshine!
Nothing. Can't wait to stay again

The meal in the evening was excellent as was the service. The nicest meal I’ve had for a long time. I had the baked feta followed by the salmon - delicious. 😊
