We had a lovely week at Wood Cottage.
We had a lovely week at Wood Cottage. The cottage is massive, with plenty of room for the four of us (it has three living rooms!) with three levels to spread ourselves in. Everything we needed was provided. It also has a quiet garden which we fully utilised. I would suggest that unless you have a small car you should park just outside the main gate, not an inconvenience given there are two entrances to the property.
Wood Cottage is located on the edge of the High Peaks with easy access to Mam Tor, Buxton, Derwent Valley etc. An added bonus is that the cottage is located 100 yards from Bugsworth Basin which meant that we could go for a lovely walk each morning to blow off the cobwebs. There is also a large Tesco within walking distance or a couple of minutes drive.
we will definitely return, given the opportunity.

We really enjoyed our stay at wood cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay at wood cottage. It is really spacious, loads of room for us to all get together, or escape into different areas. We particularly enjoyed the proximity to the canal path and enjoyed lots of walking in the local area straight from the cottage.
Only downsides were a little bit of road noice in the front bedrooms and a very narrow drive & not much outdoor space but they wouldn't prevent me from happily rebooking.

A great space for 4-6 adults +/- a couple of children.
A great space for 4-6 adults +/- a couple of children. We only had 1 child to keep an eye on and had to be really careful with all those stairs - but it was manageable.
It suited us in terms of space and location. The kitchen/ dining and living spaces were vast and great for rainy day activities. Hide and seek was a favourite!
The bedrooms were also spacious but a few of the mattresses are getting a bit tired - a couple of our friends had uncomfortable nights without much sleep unfortunately. The sofa-bed was however quite comfortable.

Lovely cottage and great location.
Lovely cottage and great location. The only issue we ever had which is out of their control was that the road it was next to was surprisingly busy and it’s difficult to get in and out of the drive if coming from the wrong direction. Drive way is also very steep.

On the positive side the property is ideal if you are taking dogs.
On the positive side the property is ideal if you are taking dogs. All the seating is leather or imitation leather, and all the floors are hardwood or tiled, easy to keep clean. On the negative side I don't think you could describe the property as a cottage, it is very big on 3 levels, ideal for a large family but not very cosy for 2. The kitchen layout is poor, the fridge is located well away from the tea/coffee making area and you have to circumnavigate the kitchen to get to the milk. The biggest problem though was access. You have to reverse up a steep drive, virtually blind, and risk not reversing into a wall or the road.

Great Cottage, there were 8 of us, we all fitted in comfortably, kitchen is well stocked, brand new shower gel left in the shower for use, plenty of towels, we would go again. It is a town house therefore a lot of stairs to climb.

Wood Cottage is a very spacious, comfortable and well equipped cottage. As a party of 5 adults with three dogs we appreciated areas for us all to be together, quiet areas for reading or relaxing and another area for t.v.
The location was perfect for us. We enjoyed pleasant and easy walks along the canal and also more strenuous walks in the High Peak.
We all enjoyed our stay at Wood Cottage and would visit another time.

Lovely cottage in a lovely place.
Lovely cottage in a lovely place. Only negative is the low ceiling on first set of stairs. I spent 4 hours in Stockport A&E due to cracking my head open on it. It wasnt too bad, it was just glued together, but it was annoying. Defo want to go back again!!! (To the cottage, not A&E)

We had a brilliant long weekend at Wood Cottage.
The house is spacious and very well equipped. Our only criticism was the lack of shower in the en-suite. We would definitely recommend this cottage to family groups such as ours.
A great stay - Thank you.
