About this cottage rental
Please note: Usually, we can only rent Sunday to Sunday for June, July and August mainly due to a shortage of people to clean when the cottage is turned for a new renter. On occasion, you may see a block of less than a week on the calendar for those months in which case, you may feel free to ask for those shorter stays. If there is a last minute opening in the high season, shorter stays will also be considered. Stays of a minimum of 3 nights are fine for the other rental months, but less than a 7 night stay will incur an extra $25 to help cover extra turnover cleaning costs.
All guests must be at least 24 years of age.
Enjoy all that Acadia National Park has to offer!! Don't forget that September and October are two of the best months in Acadia as well! No crowds...just beautiful fall weather and gorgeous scenery. We are a short distance to all the natural beauty that is Acadia, and there is no time like the fall for hiking. We are located on what is known on the island of Mount Desert on the 'Quiet Side'. We are away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor.. Relax on our patio and enjoy the garden.
The quaint village of Southwest Harbor is nearby. Take the nearby ferries to all the surrounding islands. Some of Acadia's easiest and most beautiful hikes are a short distance away.
We have a fully stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Our cottage is heated to take the chill off a cool autumn evening.
So come enjoy your vacation in our garden cottage and enjoy the natural splendor that is Acadia!!
Two bikes included with rental. We have Wi-Fi.
Please be aware, that after I have accepted your booking, I will call the phone number you provide to VRBO. We MUST talk on the phone to make your booking official. That way, I can also give you more information about the property to make sure it is what you want. Thank you. Check in time is 4 PM and check out is 10 AM. I apologize for the early checkout but cleaning staff are hard to find and stretched thin, so need the extra time

The property was great. The listing from vrbo was incorrect at verification, said property is in Georgia not Maine.
The owner is fantastic. Gave local recommendations amd was very helpful.

Four nights in Bass Harbor were very nice. Great little place for the 2 of us. Everything we needed. Thx Leslie for the great communication.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights in the Bass Harbor Cottage. It was perfect for two adults. The bedroom and sitting room were very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had all you would need to prepare meals and a nice eating area or there were even TV trays upstairs in the sitting room. We enjoyed relaxing each evening after dinner with a DVD from the great selection provided. Our host, Leslie, gave us wonderful tips on places to eat, shop, and things to do. The drive to Acadia's main loop was easy and beautiful. Passing through the little towns was fun. Although we may not have been in the center of the hustle and bustle, we could easily drive to BarHarbor of other spots. Absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Close to the water and we’ll equipped. Bed was comfortable and linens were new and fresh. Perfect for two people.
Property owner is responsive to communications. We had few questions and overall enjoyed our stay.

Great property on the quiet side with a lovely patio garden. Easy drive into Southwest Harbor for shopping and restaurants. Upstairs living space with TV a plus.

We loved our stay on the Quiet Side of mount desert island. Beautiful garden makes up for lack of direct lake views but access to hikes, carriage roads and coast is easy to get to.

The property was ideal for our needs. Wonderful location close to Bass Harbor Marsh where we put in our two person canoe and lovely hiking without the crowds. My wife loved the well appointed kitchen. All in all a lovely property.

The cottage is very comfortabel and the location is wonderful. A good bed for a good night sleep. Near the water, near nice restaurants and near enough to Arcadia national park and Bar Harbor. A great place to stay.

Perfect cozy cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens. Owner stocks everything you could need for comfort and convenience. Lots to do in area. Bar Harbor only about a 20 minute drive away. Great access to all Acadia Nat'l Park has to offer. Great restaurants close to home. Would highly recommend!!!

A perfect cottage for two. Cute private garden. Clean, cosy, fully stocked with everything we needed. (Even had a white noise machine for sleeping) Quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. Had a bit of miscommunication about checking in, but neighbors helped us find cottage.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at this great little cottage outside of Southwest Harbor back in October. It's in a great location and nice and roomy for two people. Communication with Leslie was exceptionally good. There was a glitch with the cleaning people, and she was fantastic at handling it. We would definitely go back.

Leslie left nothing to chance. The cottage is sweet, stylish & well equipped. Perfect all around!

The cottage was very cozy, comfortable and clean. Leslie communicated with us before we arrived and instructions were easy to follow. Although it was a bit of a drive to the national park there were stores and restaurants conveniently located near by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We really loved staying at the cottage, which is comfortable, has all the kitchen items needed and more ( a plus as we cooked in a lot) and a great, beautiful location. As mentioned, this is the quiet side of the island, but it was perfect for us to get some quiet and be close to great hikes and a few restaurants and shops. Really lovely stay.

Charming well-equipped cottage with beautiful garden on the “quiet side” of Mt. Desert Island. Leslie provided numerous useful tips for hikes and restaurants. We were grateful to be away from the crowds and yet conveniently located for exploring Acadia NP. She had very helpful books on hand to guide us around the park and island. We also enjoyed the games (especially cribbage) and the vast movie selection.

The owner, Leslie, was wonderful to deal with and the cottage was perfect. It was spacious, clean and stocked with everything we needed from appliances to games and outdoor furniture. The gardens around the patio and entrance were beautiful with hummingbirds and butterflies. It was a very warm week and the air conditioner and fans were needed. We went on family-owned boat tour down the road, Island Cruises, which we highly recommend. It was very informative and we saw lots of wildlife (birds, dolphins and seals). Nice quiet location and we would highly recommend this property.

Stayed here to explore Acadia National Park. Nice place, amazing/comfortable bed, and all-around easy to speak with the host. I would recommend it if you are looking for someplace near Arcadia to use as a place to rest your head at night. We didnt stay much at the house, but there are bikes and kayaks you can use if you want to do things more local and around the atea.

The cottage was amazing! Lovely, clean and completely comfortable. Leslie was a wonderful host: excellent communication and so many tips about the area and activities. This cozy cottage reflects all the hard work, care and consideration of the owners. The incredible assortment of kitchen cookware and pantry supplies is beyond what you could want. The little patio and garden are just beautiful.
Thank you to the owners.

Great place. Has all you need . Gorgeous garden/patio. It is close to a main road.. and noisy cars. But we were so tired from the days outings that it didn't affect us. Leslie is great with information about island. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful location convenient to Acadia and Bass Harbor Light but quiet and away from crowded Bar Harbor. Owner was very nice, easy to communicate with, checked-in to make sure everything was satisfactory, and shared great information and recommendations for the area ahead of arrival. The bicycles and kayaks with the VRBO provided added adventure we wouldn't have otherwise gotten to enjoy.

This lovely cottage for two is just as described. A comfortable bed, clean, well stocked bathroom and kitchen, and very roomy with the extra “den” space upstairs. Leslie was just the host you wish for when renting: very informative and available. My husband and I loved the garden which provided not only beauty but privacy. We hope to be back!

My husband and I had a nice stay. The cottage was clean and had everything you could ask for when it came to cooking in which was nice. Our only issue was that there were quite a few mosquitoes but this was of no fault of the homeowners. It was the weather.

We loved the “quiet side” and all the beauty and amenities of the cottage. Just like home and convenient to local restaurants and the waterfront. Clean, comfortable and excellent communication with the owner. Thank you!

We've come to Mt Desert Island for 40 years (hiking trails and mountains) but always stayed near Bar Harbor. This was a delightful, restful, peaceful change. The cottage wasn't only perfect, but it had everything you could need (I'm not suggesting that you don't bring your own stuff)! The garden is beautiful and added to the peacefulness. Leslie was a terrific host, responding to all questions. Although we've never met, I like her and that connection enhanced our stay.

Great stay in Bass Harbor. Located close to Acadia National Park. We were there late in the season, but there were still a fair amount of businesses open so that we could purchase food and other goods while we were in town.House was nice, clean, and spacious.

We had such a wonderful stay in this cozy cottage! The owner’s excellent communication with us and advanced details were really helpful. The property was really clean, comfortable, and well-organized, and we found everything we could have needed on-site (we especially appreciated the bikes, and though we didn’t use the kayaks, they are a real benefit). Because of Covid, we were cooking all of our meals, and the kitchen was well equipped and so easy to navigate. While there is a resident in the adjacent home, we felt like there was plenty of privacy. The location is on the quiet side of the island, very near Southwest Harbor, and 30-40 minutes to the heart of Acadia National Park. We really liked the layout of the house, with the open living/dining area on the first floor, and the additional couch/TV area upstairs (we were both doing some remote work, and this was really nice for having our separate space). We really can’t say enough to recommend this sweet rental home and thoughtful host!

The house was perfect; adorable, comfy, and very welcoming. Garden was beautifully maintenance and perfect for mornings watching the sunrise with coffee. Leslie was a great host and extremely responsive.

We had a lovely stay. It was in a more remote part of the island but the island is quite small so getting to Bar Harbor only takes about 30 minutes.

Leslie was very helpful with providing suggestions of activities in the area, the location is great for exploring Acadia National Park which was the highlight of our visit.

We enjoyed a lovely week leisurely drinking coffee on the patio, and then spending the rest of the day hiking and biking in the park. Making dinner in the well-equipped and well-stocked kitchen was a breeze. The location couldn’t have been better.
