The cottage was wonderful and there was plenty of space for oir group of seven people. We selected this location because of all the fabulous reviews and it did not disappoint. Our group of 4 adults and 3 teens had a great time, despite a rainy week. Our goal was to connect with nature and spend time outdoors. The

Our family had such a lovely stay at the river house/farm. The house itself is very comfortable and graciously supplied and managed - it's got everything you need, unlike many corporate rentals. The river is very quiet with very few houses nearby, a dock for swimming and kayaks for play. The surrounding towns are very charming as are the hosts and the farm. Highly recommend.

We were 5 adults whose needs fit well with this property. One guy went fishing while 3 others went kayaking. A couple of us went biking. All of us enjoyed swimming, especially with a little beach a short walk from the house. A unique feature was a visit by a llama, brought to the house by our host.
There was plenty to keep us occupied for 4 days. We definitely want to go back.

Private beach, large home, gracious host. Perfect week of relaxation and fun.

We enjoyed meeting the hosts and their llamas and emus. The home had everything we needed for our stay, and the view of the water from the house could not be better. We watch the sunsets wherever we go, and the colors were spectacular. There were plenty of things to do, and the restaurants were a short drive away. Thank you for sharing this property with others.

Lovely visit. I have a 1 and 3 year old. They loved the water and meeting the llama.
The room set up is confusing in the listing. Its 3 bedrooms with 2person beds and a forth bedroom w a 1person bed.

If you seek quiet time to connect with nature this is perfect. The house was clean and as described. We hope to return again. Thanks Doug!

Unfortunately, due to health and personal reasons, I had to cancel my stay at the last minute. Unfortunately it was well past the refund date, but that was not the owners fault. That said, were I to be in the area again, I would definitely consider staying here.

This property is perfect for nature lovers and people trying to get away from life’s hustle and
bustle. We saw bald eagles, heron, egrets & lots of jumping fish from the private dock. Sunsets were magical. We’ll definitely be back.

It accommodated our boat well and was a great place to get out to the water. Met all of our needs. Had a great long weekend there.

Cute cottage tucked back behind the llamas and emus at the main farm. More than enough space for 5 of us. Plenty of kayaks, SUPs, canoes with an easy launch area next to the dock. Just watch for the amazing huge orb weaver spiders in the evening on the dock and path down to it!

We are repeat visitors to this property and we will continue to return.

The cottage was very cute and cozy, just as depicted on the site. Great views, wildlife and fishing. Everything was beautiful, and the owner Doug was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Very much enjoyed our stay and would book again.

A lot of fun things to do and the home was lovely and very well equipped. The host was congenial and even introduced us to one of his lammas.

We loved our stay. Mornings on the deck sipping coffee and listening to a symphony of birds in the trees while looking out over the river were lovely. We spent a whole day enjoying the water and appreciated the life vests, sun umbrella to cover the dock benches, and variety of kayaks and canoes to use. Our six year old loved swimming in the shallow water around the dock.

We enjoyed our stay. House has that lived in vibe. Not ritzy but comfortable and relaxing.

Absolutely peaceful and beautiful. Feels like a mountain setting on a Chesapeake Creek. Everything about it was great. Stores, shopping and restaurants are fairly close by. Doug was a great host. He let us borrow a fishing rod to fish off the dock. We will definitely be back in the near and far future. To understand how wonderful it is, you have to experience it yourself. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to return.

Just arrived home from our stay at Spring Cove Farm and I wanted to write my review while it's all fresh. This cozy home is not glitz or glamour, but you can easily find it in nearby Annapolis if that's your thing. It’s on a beautiful farm with trees, trails, fields and a llama or two. Our family is from both coasts, so we were there for the re-connection, peace, quiet and water view. It had all the amenities we wanted to live comfortably during our stay.
The "innkeeper" Doug was very welcoming and accommodating and the property is absolutely beautiful. I just can't rave about it enough.

This is my 2nd visit to Doug’s place with friends and family. This secluded and beautiful property in person is better than advertised. The pictures can’t capture the true beauty of the property. The mornings and evenings especially are so tranquil and relaxing. The mist on the morning water is incredible. The views from the deck are like an advertisement for why people love the Eastern Shore. There is plenty of wildlife to add to the beauty of the farm and the waterfront. There are plenty of canoes and kayaks for enjoying the creek, which is wide and tranquil. Doug went out of his way to help us with a place to launch our boat. He was very attentive and available for anything we needed. The house is clean and is the right size for 6-8 guests. Although it is hard for me to spend much time inside with such wonderful scenery waiting outside. It truly looks like a storybook scene as you walk down to the pier as the mature trees provide the perfect canopy for your short journey to the water. We saw wild turkeys in the field and on the tree lined road of the farm, Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles as well as Blue Crabs and many species of fish. This property does the Eastern Shore of Maryland proud and Doug is as good of a host as you will ever encounter. He is there to help but never in the way. I have been to many places but when it comes to the beauty of nature and the serenity of this waterfront property along with a gracious and helpful host, this one tops my list. If your looking for a quiet family and or friends retreat and recharge, this is your place. There are great waterfront restaurants only a few minutes away but I prefer to eat at the house as it gives me more time to enjoy the beautiful views and enjoy nature. I will keep coming back.

We had a great time on our weekend getaway! The house was clean and comfortable. Douglas was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. The visit with the llama was a highlight of the weekend! The house is in a very quiet area full of nature sightings but not far from shopping and restaurants (Doc's Riverside Grille in Centerville has fantastic crab dip!) There were enough kayaks available for our group of 6 to all go out together (just check them for critters before using). Would highly recommend as a great place to gather with family or friends!

We were in the heart of nature with tree frogs, Katydids, Imperial moths, and other winged creatures who clung to the glass patio doors at night for perfect viewing from inside! We were fascinated! A Barred Owl swept down to the welcome mat for the purpose of capturing a fat and juicy cicada! The neighborly 4-H girls came to the cottage with two llamas and invited us to walk with them to give the llamas a dip in the creek - comical! The llamas were adorable and well-behaved when we helped farmer Doug transfer (walk) them to another location due to the impending heat index. We fished off the pier/dock, catching/releasing several catfish and others. While fishing, we would see occasional sea nettles (jellyfish) so we knew to swim in the afternoons. The warm water is shallow and smooth-bottomed, and ok to splash around in. Low tide presents a beach! Doug has a shed filled with fishing poles, kayaks, beach chairs, tubes, and more, for your use. We were invited to pick any produce we would find. The house was very climate-controlled comfortable with its two-zone air conditioners and ceiling fans in the living room and dining room. The king bed and linens were cozy. The library has a trundle bed, perfect for lounging and perusing some very old books handed down by his family! The kitchen boasts a pantry filled with spices, food wraps, and other typical items you might need to make meals. The sink base cabinet is stocked with household cleaning products you might need to use during your stay. The washer and dryer area has shelves upon which you will find laundry detergent, extra paper towel rolls, bath tissue, etc. Suggestion: if you consume an item, please replace it for the next family. We did :) Picturesque in natural simplicity, yet only minutes from grocery stores, McDonald's, Family Dollar, Dunkin, Queenstown Outlets, thrift and consignment shops, etc., this was our home-away-from-home for a glorious week! We enjoyed being a part of Doug's homestead and would visit again!

Peaceful week on the water
This is an isolated house on a farm, overlooking the water of Reed Creek, Maryland. The house was perfect for our family of 7 and a small dog. The view and the dock for our boat were great. We did not expect to have access to canoes and kayaks which we took full advantage of. One downer was the sea nettles, (jelly fish)
In the water. They can be a problem in the hot dry weather of July. Our 10 year old got stung, which made us stay out of the water for the rest of the week. If you want to swim, don’t go at this time of the year.
We spent a lot of time on the deck which was shaded most of the time. The private dock is a short walk around a small creek. There are mowed trails nearby for walking.
The house was well furnished and had everything we needed. As for cleanliness, it was dusty. We had to vacuum to keep our crawling baby from finding dust bunnies. Other than that the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms were clean enough with fresh linens, towels on each bed and fresh flowers on the table.
Our host, Doug lives on the property and was attentive without being intrusive. Overall, it was a good week.

Third Time's a Charm!
It says a lot about a stay when you choose to return again and again. From the perfect location to Douglas' fabulous hosting, this has become one of our favorite spots on the Eastern Shore. And yes, we WILL be back again!

spectacular location!!!
What a fantastic property! Doug's farm provides all the peace and serenity you could possibly hope for, yet is close enough for sightseeing in Annapolis, Baltimore, and DC. I highly recommend this home as your peaceful base. We spent an entire day walking and hiking the property, and it even got warm enough for a little kayaking. Doug provides kayaks, canoes, life jackets. At low tide, you have your own private beach! The house is nicer than pictured, and the fireplace was all set up - all we had to do was light it. We will definitely be back!

Douglas met us at the cottage and went over the availability of kayaks, canoe, paddleboard, puppies, and anything we needed to know about the area. We had fun on the water, books, tv, puppy snuggling, and long walks. The peaceful view of the water and comfortable surroundings were perfect for our little family reunion.

We had a wonderful week on the farm. It was as secluded as we wanted it to be, right in the heart of nature, with a small beach to play on and canoes and kayaks to take out on the water. You'd need more than two hands to count the different animals we saw, from bald eagles to deer running across the coast to the small frogs that clung to the sliding glass doors at night. And of course the llamas and puppies that we got to visit with thanks to Douglas and his family. We were able to head into town for food or ice cream without any problem and were even happy to stay in on rainy days because of how cozy and well-equipped the house was.

A True Get-a-Way
From puppies to llamas, fishing to swimming to just gazing over the water, this was a fantastic get-a-way from everything we needed to leave behind in the world these days. Douglas is one of the best VRBO hosts we've had the pleasure of knowing. Attentive without being at all intrusive, very caring and gracious. Perfect!

Myself, my 79 year old mother and four grandchildren, ages 11 -19 stayed here in early August. We had access to the entire 200 acres, as well as Doug and his wife were kind enough to bring fresh corn on the cob and a cantalope. The llama also payed us a visit one morning, which was a delight for my granddaughter, while the boys had a ball with the fishing. The house was roomy and the country setting and scenery were a very much welcomed atmosphere. The sunsets were beautiful. Of course, it is in the country, so the cabin does come complete with many country critters. The cabin is secluded with no neighbors within your line of sight. It is far enough from the hustle and bustle to relax, but close enough to activities and events to enjoy the area. I think it is safe to say that we would all enjoy a future stay.

Enjoyed every minute of our stay! We fished, we kayaked, we paddle boarded, we swam, we walked some llamas, and we played with Norfolk terrier puppies. We made a fresh salsa from the vegetables we picked from their garden and enjoyed some pears from their pear tree. The hosts were incredibly helpful and responsive, and made us feel like a part of their family. The kids had a total blast and us parents had a long overdue chance to step completely away from reality and spend some quality time with the kids. Definitely coming back!

Staying here was such a wonderful experience. We visited this property back in 2016 and loved the water, peaceful setting, farm animals and beauty of the landscape and promised to come back. We finally did in July 2021 and it was still just a great. Love swimming in the water, fishing and using all the kayaks that are all there already. It makes things so much easier to have everything you need! Doug was a great host too! He let our kids visit with his puppies an even came down to the house with one of the llamas (unforgettable moment for the kids!). If you're looking for a special getaway this place is a hidden gem!
