About this house rental
The cabin is located roughly 5 minutes from downtown Decorah. The private yard and minimally traveled road makes the cabin close enough to downtown to enjoy local shops, restaurants, trails and streams, yet just far enough away to have campfires, yard games and more. Twin Springs Supper Club is also located within walking distance to the home as well as the Trout Run Trail, Pulpit Rock Campground, Twin Springs Park and the Upper Iowa River.
**Now with an EV Charger on site. A 14-50 Nema outlet has recently been installed for guests. Just bring your own cord, and feel free to plug in and enjoy!
The home features a large covered porch with lots of seating, a grill and ceiling fan. It is a great gathering place in the mornings and late evenings for many guests. Lots of cards games and cups of coffee are typically held in this area!
The main level of the home has two private bedrooms, each with a queen bed, dresser and nightstands. There is a large open kitchen and living-room on the main floor with all the space to entertain while cooking and enjoying each other's company. The private sunroom is a quiet space to read or watch a movie. It features a pull-out couch for extra guests. The large bathroom contains a tub/shower and washer/dryer, plus an indoor sauna!
The upper level of the cabin is an open loft concept, housing two queen beds, two twin beds and two dressers.
The roundhouse or earth-home concept in carried throughout the home with its refurbished materials and natural woods and stones, its definitely something to see! The home naturally stays cool in the hot summer days and warm/cozy during the winter months. The gas fireplace is definitely a crowd favorite, warming the large living-room and kitchen area with ease.
Decorah and Northeast Iowa have much to offer. Some of the best trout fishing in the state of Iowa is just down the road. Turkey, deer, and the occasional pheasant are popular hunting attractions in the area. The Upper Iowa River is nearby and offers fishing for many species. During the summer months kayaking, canoeing, and tubing the Upper Iowa is incredible and we can nearly guarantee a bald eagle siting!!
Decorah attractions include the Porter House Museum, Luther College campus, Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, Steyer Opera House, Decorah's Fish Hatchery, Malanaphy Springs, and Decorah's Historic Architecture Tour. The newly completed 14 mile bike trail circumnavigates the entire community!
Check out the Fort Atkinson Preserve, Bily Clocks Museum, Seed Savers Exchange/Heritage Farm, the Winneshiek Wildberry Winery or the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Burr Oak, IA.
This cabin is non-smoking.

Close to town but in a quiet location in the country. Perfect for our family.

Quiet with attentive and friendly management. The VRBO site said there was no WIFI, but we were happy they did. Pet friendly and our dog enjoyed it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there was no dishwasher.

cozy, quaint and unique property in a peaceful serene environment. Loved the porch and sauna!

Rooming living room. Close enough to twin springs park to walk to. We used this as a base camp and visited other places in the area.

We absolutely loved this place! It is spacious, the kitchen was awesome to cook in, although there is only 1 bathroom- it is really big! The cabin stayed cool through out entire stay, the beds were comfortable and it was so convenient- we felt secluded, but it was so easy to get in and out of town. Decorah was so fun and had so much to offer as well. I would absolutely stay in this place again, thank you for a great stay!

What a great little escape during the craziness of graduation weekend! We were able to grill out and have a quiet fire to relax before the festivities. Communication was prompt, property was clean.

What an amazing experience we had! The lodge was perfect for our weekend getaway. Thank you so much for everything, the whole family had an amazing time and we cannot wait to come back again!

This place is advertised and more, the pictures didn't do it justice, it is more unique than even inspected with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the location and rest. We had some employees stay there from out of town and they were enquiring about bringing there families there at a later time. All were complimentary of the place.

This property was beautiful and unique. It had plenty of beds for our large family. They front deck was relaxing the morning and the fire pit was at night. We enjoyed discovering the small hike and trails down the road. The washer and dryer came in handy for kids' muddy clothes after the day's adventures. One bathroom was a challenge at times. I would stay here again and recommend it to others as well

Neat house and a fantastic location for a weekend of riding the trails in Decorah. Looking forward to coming back.

The location of this property is great. On a gravel road that is not too busy, very peaceful at night to enjoy a campfire. Roomy yard for games. It is only a few minutes from town and about a mile to the Trout Trail path so riding bikes to the trail was easy. The cabin is roomy, as long as those sleeping upstairs dont mind the one room. The porch is great to hang out on along with a nice gas grill. One bathroom went better than I though it might for 7 people! The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, dishes, etc.
Stephanie was great to communicate with.

Pleasant cabin in the woods
We came to Decorah for hiking, biking, and breweries. This place was perfectly located for our activities and we seldom had to drive. The living areas were spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit and the ability to view the NBA playoffs on the new tv.

Weekend trip
Stayed for 2 nights. Easy to find, with good location. It is a pet friendly house as the listing states, however I did not bring any pets and found dog hair all over the sheets and pillowcases in both beds that we used. There was dog hair all over the washer as well. The whole house was an overwhelming smell of febrease and wet dog. Would have preferred the smell of old house over that.

A great way to do Decorah. Love being out in the country but just around the corner to civilization. House has everything you'll need. Cool design and layout. Tons of space. Family really enjoyed the stay.

Quiet location, close to Downtown Decorah
As former residents of Decorah, it is always great to come back. We really enjoyed the quiet location on Twin Springs Road. We hiked the trails every day and visited our favorite restaurants and shops. A bonus to Twin Springs Lodge is they are pup-friendly so we did not need to board our dog for the extended weekend.

Luther Family Weekend
My son, his family and myself came to Decorah for Luther Family Weekend and we had a blast! This cabin was plenty big enough for the 7 of us -- we were a bit concerned w/only one bath, but it wasn't an issue at all. We took walks in the morning and it was such a beautiful setting. Plenty of dishes, towels, etc. We enjoyed the weekend very much.

Nice little cabin with plenty of space. It’s easy to access numerous trails and paths. The hosts were great and very accommodating! They have some great recommendations- our favorite was kayaking the Upper Iowa River.

A great family weekend!
We spent a long weekend here with our 3 adult children and their spouses, and we thoroughly enjoyed this property. We had plenty of room, and we especially enjoyed spending time in the large living room and out on the porch. We were concerned ahead of time that the single bathroom would be a problem, but it really wasn't. We like the close access to town, and the ability to easily walk to Twin Springs Park. The kids all recommended that we come back again sometime.

We decided to give an experience instead of a tangible gift to our adult children, so 8 of us stayed at this great "cabin" for a few days. We biked, hiked, fished, explored a winery and a brewery, played board games, ate and talked...a lot. Fabulous location that made all of these adventures easy. Would definitely stay here again.

Paid, stayed and left
Very adequate. The clubfoot tub/shower is very quaint, but useless. The Outdoor grill was usable after it caught fire and we cleaned it out. The grandkids did not enjoy getting into nettles in the weeds next to the front entrance. More care would be a good idea to the exterior and property. But the the interior was fine for our use. Thank you.

Nice place in Decorah
This is a comfortable place to stay. I wish it was warmer so we could sit on the porch. Close to close streams. Only shortcomings are no dishwasher and one bath. Fireplace is nice touch.
