Great location. A lot of room. We needed to fix hinge on one bathroom door. No grounded electric outlets in bathrooms. Very cold when we arrived. A lot of windows were open. Had to close them and turn furnace on. Then it got too warm, so turned furnace off and used fans.

This is a beautiful, historic home with lots of space for a larger group. It's right above the Bear River and a couple of blocks away from downtown. It was immaculate when we arrived and it's an airy, bright home with a wonderful front porch and a private backyard. We were very comfortable and hope to return.

The location worked well for us. Close to other family, playground for my grandson at the waterfront, wonderful walking area. My one suggestion would be to label/hook lock on basement door. Being unfamiliar with the house initially, we didn't know where that door went. My grandson (20 months) fell down the basement steps. By some miracle, he didn't get hurt but tramatic for all. An adult would have broken into many pieces walking through that door.

We enjoyed shopping in charlevoix and harbor springs and drives to see the fall colors. We walked into petoskey to shop and eat. We also enjoyed morning hikes in the bear creek trail accessible very close to the house.

We had a great trip. House was nice. Lots of fans to keep us cool….no ac unit. Was a bit disappointed that check in was 6pm and had to wait down the street till 7:55 as the cleaner was still in the house.

Lots of room, amazing playroom for kids. Had everything we needed. Only an hour away from Mackinac Island ferry. Very clean - would stay here again!

The house was amazing. Large enough so everyone felt like we had our own space. Walk to town or the take trail down to the lake.
The neighbor with whom the owners share the drive way with was very overbearing. He showed up as soon as we arrived from our 8 hour drive to let us know he goes to bed at 11pm (?) He showed up numerous times during the week, with last time telling us we put the wrong items in the recycle bin (?)
Do not let this deter you from staying at this amazing house. Beautiful Petoskey, Beautiful home.

Beautiful home. Close enough to walk around town without using a car. No air conditioning and some windows don’t open so was warm at times. It would be nice to check in around 3 or 4 instead of 6. Master bedroom on first floor has no mirrors, could of used one. Would I rent again? Yes

Two blocks to town, 1/2 block to a beautiful creek! A very lovely home in a great location.

A group of us traveled for a reunion. The house was spacious and a convenient walk to downtown Petoskey. Know that there are only two full bathrooms in the house, which presented some issues for 10 women trying to plan showers. Some of the window screens were in need of repair. I had several questions along the way, on behalf of our group, and was made to feeI that I was bothering the host based on the way she responded. Overall, we had a great time together and enjoyed the character and roominess of the house.

Beautiful Home, Great Location!
We loved our stay here! Such a beautiful home and perfect for our group. Plenty of space for everyone; loved the big dining table and Adirondack chairs in the back around the fire pit. And *fantastic* location - a short walk to everything! Downtown and Bear Trail to the waterfront. This house was perfect. Highly recommend! And hope to stay again! P.s. We met the neighbors on both sides, too - both were lovely!

Nice location and home
The only downside was the house had no kind of air conditioning and it got very warm there a couple of days.

Great place but overbearing neighbor
Absolutely LOVED the house and location!! Hostess was very pleasant as well.
The neighbor with whom the owners share a driveway with was quite overbearing and asserted himself upon arrival (and w/out cause numerous times after). The other neighbor was very friendly and welcoming.
Don't let the neighbor deter you from staying here - it truly is a great place - you can just expect to have the neighbor 'force himself' upon you. I'm sure he's well-intended but it's a bit much.

This house worked out well for our group of ladies. We enjoyed a campfire, it was close to downtown and had room for all 10 of us to enjoy each other’s company. Interior was very well appointed and comfortable.

North Star house.
The house is large and plenty of room for families or friends to gather. A pleasant place to stay, relax, shop, and walk along by beautiful Lake Michigan bay. In the fall the area shows off its beauty in the colored leaves. Hope to come again.

We would would definitely stay again!
We traveled with a group of 7 ranging from 9 to 77 years old.
The home is old and hasn't been modernized, but it is very clean, well maintained, and has a lot of character. There are 2 separate living rooms and kitchens that would allow for some separation if traveling with multiple families or if the kids wanted to hang out in different areas. The attic is also fully finished and setup with another entertaining area and plenty of space to spread out if needed. The attic did have a somewhat musty odor which is fairly typical of old home attics from my experience and the staircase to the attic is narrow. They have a very nice fire pit in the backyard with several adirondack chairs and a picnic table.
The location is great. It is only a 5 minute walk to downtown restaurants and shops, and an entrance to the Bear River Valley Recreation Area is at the end of the block. We met a few of the neighbors and they all seemed very nice.

No AIR CONDITIONING
It was stifling in the house. There are several windows with no coverings and unable to open all the windows. When I contacted the owner hoping to get maybe a couple window air conditioners or something I was told how to close the window coverings and move the fans to blow out hot air. I know all about that as I grew up without air. However, the east facing kitchen windows not only did not open , they had no coverings. We ended up taping aluminum foil on them. Even that helped by not getting blasted with the heat right away in the morning.
The house itself is very cozy and unique. We loved that part of it. Nice backyard with fire pit. Great location.

Property was not cleaned when we arrived. They did a quick clean while we had dinner.
Property mgr apologized and waved the cleaning fee. It was adequate but not really up to date or as nice as others we have rented.

Perfect vacation house
Our group of seven was very comfortable in this gracious old house. Neighborhood is quiet, easy walk to shops and restaurants, scenic trails close by for jogging and cycling. Host is very responsive. Will definitely choose this place again when we’re in the area.

Excellent
We had a great time at this house. The location is great, walking distance from downtown Petoskey. The house is very cozy and nice, with rooms set up that would nicely suite two families. In the winter you can see Little Traverse Bay from upper level. We would love to stay again.

Great remote schooling option!
Wonderful old home that was fun to explore and fantastic for spreading out to conduct remote work and schooling. All 4 of us had a ton of room to create a private study space. Everything was functional as promised, and the owners were very responsive when the water heater quit at the start of our stay. The location of the property is fantastic. We walked the Bear river and lakeshore every day. All the shops and restaurants of downtown were only a couple blocks away. It was a great escape in a crazy year.

Great place
The best thing about our trip was staying in this house! The house has plenty of charm and plenty of room. Its close to town and activities. Our family enjoyed staying in and burning a little wood at night. All information clearly posted in the house. Probably best VRBO I've stayed in.

Clean well appointed historic home
This property is a beautiful 1920’s vintage home with high ceilings, large oak trim, and many original fixtures from that era. The home is spacious with two complete living areas and kitchens. At the end of the road is a beautiful river walk that we did with two young kids in tow. Would happily stay here again.

The house is very close to both downtown and the Bear River Valley Recreation Area. Nearby trail takes you right to the harbor and pier. Loved the house and location.

Perfect Home - Perfect Location
We loved our stay! We only wish we had more folks with us to enjoy it. This home is absolutely beautifully decorated, has everything you will need for a great stay, and in a wonderful neighborhood within a couple of blocks to downtown Petoskey.
We spent our time cycling the great bike trails both north and south, walking in the downtown area and along the lake trails, enjoying the amazing sunsets, and just relaxing in this lovely home.
Communication with the host was easy for booking and we never needed anything else while staying at this lovely home. We really appreciated how the home too has been maintained in it's original beauty. Our only regret was not staying longer and taking advantage of the backyard bonfire pit area.
The cleanliness of the home too is something we appreciated and having games, books, and guest books on hand for tips from others of what to enjoy also helped make our stay enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful family getaway
This house was perfect for multiple families staying together. The attic space was a wonderful space for the two toddlers on the trip who were very excited about all of the toys. Being close to town and the river gave us lots of options for family friendly activities.
