About this house rental
Escape year-round to this charming bungalow for a well-deserved break. Lovingly refurbished to reflect a marine sanctuary, it’s perfect for a family vacation or solitary retreat. Custom-built in the 1930’s by Brad Norris for his wife’s “summer business”, it sports hardwood floors throughout with fine woodwork accents.
Quaint and comfortable, you will find all the amenities of home with the simple things of life at your fingertips and footsteps. Pull into our oyster-shelled driveway, unpack, and take a walk up to the Hyannis Port Golf Club for the spectacular sunset over Squaw Island. Walk to Sea Street Market for sundries, snacks, newspapers and newspapers.
We are a 3-minute walk to serene Sea Street Beach, with Picnic Area, Bath House and Snack Bar. We’ve watched osprey dive for minnows there at low tide! The popular beaches: Veteran’s, Kalmus, (ideal winds for the best sail boarding in New England), and Craigville, are short hops away.
Check with local businesses to be sure they are open and accommodating people safely. Main Street restaurants feature casual and fine dining with daily catches from local fishing vessels. Visit the Hyannis Harbor Docks to see fish and lobsters being off-loaded, while you shop at the local artisan kiosks. Popular restaurants dot Ocean Street and offer a view of Hyannis Harbor.
Nightlife abounds and cinemas feature box office greats. Enjoy summer theater performances at The Cape Playhouse and unique foreign films shown at The Cape Cod Art Museum. Farm-fresh food is available through “Edible Cape Cod” farm members and Farmer’s Markets. Agri-Tourism farms bring back times past with “Pick Your Own” options, tours, hikes, hayrides and workshops. The local wineries host tastings to showcase specialty wines.
Treat yourself to a quiet home base from which to explore the whole Cape, including the Massachusetts Cultural Coast. Be really “Green”, bring your bikes and ride the bike trails for miles through The Cape Cod National Seashore and beyond. "Cape Cod Rails to Trails" will give you a great workout with views of cranberry bogs, marshes, and ocean panoramas. Go fishing for trout, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel and bluegill at one of the 365 kettle hole ponds, or surf cast off Dennis Beach.
Private and public golf courses are minutes away and across town, historic Route 6A will pique your architectural and antique sweet tooth. We are 45 minutes from historical Provincetown, where you can experience the sand dunes, sunset horseback rides, and shop for unique art and entertainment.
Whether this is your summer vacation or a spur of the moment getaway during the winter, leave your cares at home. Come read, write a book, finish a project, sketch, or photograph the beauty of the ocean and its environs. Off-season, short stays for weddings, conferences, and business are also available. Our bungalow is the perfect spot suitable for couples on a getaway weekend, small families who like gentle beaches and mature travelers who enjoy peace and quiet. My friend Joyce and I loved staying at this property. It was close to the beach, only a 5 minute walk. It was a very nice cottage, 2 bedrooms, a large kitchen and dining area and a very nice shower. We got to meet the owners as they were there at check in. Very quiet neighborhood. Just a 10 minute walk from the Sea Street cafe which is outstanding for lunch and breakfast. Loved the french toast with strawberries. Overall I give the cottage 5 stars. We hope to be back next year.

We spent 4 nights here over Memorial Day weekend and absolutely loved it. Elaine and John were wonderful hosts -- not only did they greet us and help us settle in, they gave us the best recommendations for where to go and what to do, and they were so accessible by text and email. They are also simply lovely and caring people! The cottage itself was ideal for our family of three (but could easily accommodate more). We have stayed at many VRBOs and never had such a well appointed kitchen! The location is wonderful -- a hop skip and a jump to beautiful beaches, an easy drive to Cape Cod National Seashore, and easy access to the Hyannis ferry terminal if you want to cross over to Nantucket for a day! Everything about our weekend stay was perfect! I am sure we will be going back!

Lovely bungalow in a great location to beaches and downtown Hyannis. Great communication with owner! Owner went the extra mile to provide a pack and play and high chair for our daughter. We all enjoyed our stay and would book again! Thanks!

Sweet spot. Great communication. Especially love the outdoor shower and short walk to the beach. Hyannis is a cool little town and also an easy walking distance.

This location and property was simply perfect for our needs. For us, everything we wanted was within walking distance. Keep in mind, we did plan on driving to some spots, so do a bit of research first to see where you may want to visit if not familiar with the Cape. No two beaches or towns are alike. Each has it's own flavor which may or may not coincide with the experience you are looking for. There is certainly a flavor to match, but, like I said, research a bit to find it.
This was our second trip to the Cape (went last year as well). This trip, we wanted option to cook/grill and to do laundry. One of our favorite spots for fresh seafood is the Chatam Fish Market. Ironically, this trip, with all of the beaches to visit and little towns to walk through, we ended up not even cooking... we did get a fish fry from the Market however. :)

My family and I had a great stay at Norris cottages! Home was exactly as described, was very clean, had everything we needed and the check in process was easy. Elaine and John were very helpful and informative before, throughout and at the end of our trip. They made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Would definitely recommend a stay here!!

They loved the boogie board!

We were visiting family in the Barnstable area. What a great location! A quiet neighborhood, short walk to the beach, a cute and cozy classic cottage with everything you need. King bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had plenty of room and all we needed for prepping some family dinners. We enjoyed the deck for leisurely reading and late afternoon happy hours. Communication with Elaine was easy. I'm sorry our visit did not overlap with theirs so we did not meet, but we will be back!

I took my children (ages 23, 20 and 17) to the Cape for Thanksgiving for a change and it could not have been more lovely! The house was immaculate, easy access, plenty of parking and the kitchen was large and fully stocked with anything we needed. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach, 5 min drive to Main Street, and central to all places down the Cape to go visit. It was heaven for my son that loves to go birding. Elaine and John were the ultimate hosts with excellent communication and directions. I would definitely come back down this little sanctuary!

We had a great stay in this comfortable and peaceful cottage! All the beaches were within 1/4 to 1-2 miles from the house. Town was about a mile or so away. The house was clean and very well stocked. Highly recommend staying here!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at our Cape Cod bungalow. The hosts were excellent and the property was perfect for my family of five (5). The proximity to the beach, shops, restaurants, and harbor was a huge benefit during our stay. I would recommend this property to friends and family without reservation. Thank you Elaine and John for hosting our vacation. Cheers!

Great stay at Norris Cottage Bungalow
Elaine and John are the perfect hosts! We got to meet Elaine, which was fantastic! The cottage has everything you'll need for the perfect "homey" vacation. The location is superb, 3 minute walk to the beach, close to downtown Hyannis. The cottage is older, but extremely well kept, and super clean!! Having AC and a dehumidifier was a real plus in keeping cool, considering we were there during a heat wave.
Don't hesitate in booking with Elaine and John, you won't be disappointed. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay!

Excellent Long Weekend Stay
My family stayed at Norris Cottages Bungalow over Columbus Day weekend. The house was the perfect size for two adults and two children. We had plenty of space and everything we needed. The location of the bungalow was great. We could walk to the beach in just a few minutes. Downtown Hyannis was a few minute drive and we even walked to the shops on our first day. We would definitely stay in this location again.

Nice Getaway
We scheduled a last minute trip to the Cape, and were lucky to find this great cottage. An older house, it was updated and maintained meticulously. We walked in and found it much nicer than the pictures showed. It was well equipped and lacked nothing. Elaine was a pleasure to deal with, communicated everything we needed to know ahead of time, and was there to greet us when we arrived. She takes the cleaning and sanitizing of the house between guests very seriously, and is happy to advise and assist visitors with local knowledge. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Weekend trip to Hyannis
Elaine and John were great hosts for my wife and I during our weekend stay @ Norris Cottages. Elaine provided detailed instructions on the check-in/out process and also tips to help use appliances in the cottage. She also offered great tips on different things to see and do for first-timers to the Cape. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again!

Great base for a Cape Cod vacation
The place was perfect for our Cape Cod getaway. Centrally located so that you can see the whole Cape using it as a base. Walk to beach, Cape Cod league baseball and shops and places to eat. Perfect for our family of 4 but room for a few more if needed. Hosts greeted us warmly and gave great tips for the local area.

Exceptional Cape Cottage
A perfectly situated and well-appointed home for our small family. We appreciated the convenient location, the quiet street and the proximity to all that you could wish for, including the beach and town. The Owners are exceptional and the cottage was neat as a pin. It offered everything we needed - and more than we expected. The water at nearby Keyes Memorial Beach was unexpectedly warm, and the shoreline scattered with sea life to explore. Downtown restaurants were exceptional (Pizza Barbone, Alberto's Ristorante and Sea StreetCafe for breakfaster lunch - be sure to order the Clam Chowder!). The cottage's proximity to Mayflower Beach in Dennis, to the Kennedy Compound and to the high-speed ferry to Nantucket was excellent. The cottage made us feel at home, but also 'at-the-Cape'. We were thrilled to be there. Most highly recommended!

Just the right size
My husband and I spent a lovely and relaxing week in our little cottage by the ocean. It takes only 5-10 minutes to walk there and has a pretty little view.
I particularly loved the big open kitchen and all the space. House was clean and had all we could possibly need, including a very handy washer and dryer.Bedrooms were small but cozy.
While there, we toured the area and beyond and brought back lots of souvenirs from the cape.
This house was perfect for the two of us but can definitely accommodate a family of 4+.
We hope to return again in the future.
Elaine and John, the owners were extremely accommodating, friendly and easy to work with.

Just Perfect
Thank you Elaine and John for a wonderful vacation. Your cute cottage was exactly what we needed; well equipped and clean, located near beaches and restaurants. Fall weather was perfect except for one rainy day that we used to go to the Christmas Tree Shop and a quilt shop, also visit family in Falmouth.
Enjoyed fresh lobster from Cape Fish and Lobster in Hyannis, going to the National Seashore, lunch at Spanky’s, dinner at Alberto’s, and just hanging out at the beach. Already ready to go back!

The property was a nice little house, good size for our family of four.
The property was perfect for what we wanted. Our daughter has her own room and we had enough room for ourselves plus a pack and play for our littlest one. It was great to have a full kitchen and a grill readily available, and our daughter loved the outdoor shower. We did have an issue one day with the air conditioning but the owner addressed it right away and it was fixed the next day, which was greatly appreciated. The house was well kept and in a perfect location. A five minute walk to one beach, and a ten minute driver to the mall area/grocery stores. Would you love to come back to this house or the adjacent property.

Wonderful cottage!
We have been guests here 4 times. We love the accessibility to the beach (a 4 minute walk) as well as Hyannis Main Street, as well as the central location of the entire Cape. The cottage is incredibly well stocked with everything for a week by the sea. No need to pack or lug a bunch of extra stuff. We love the big kitchen, the beautiful deck and the refreshing outdoor shower. The quiet, dead-end street is so peaceful for a vacation. We like the air conditioner on muggy nights for sleeping-it has all that you can ask for. We hope to be back again. Elaine and John are terrific owners.

Great location!
Had wonderful stay! So close to the beach and a just a short walk to Main Street also. Enjoyed Sea Street Cafe for breakfast especially--the wait is worth it. A stroll down Gosnold St. to Veterans Park is great-so many cute homes. Went to Chatham to shop, Martha's Vineyard for a day, and even to Boston for the 4th of July Fireworks and the Freedom Trail. Saw Plymouth on the way back also. House is fully equipped and clean. The patio is great and shaded in the late afternoon. Enjoyed grilling and eating outside. The street is super quiet. Elaine and John were gracious and checked in to make sure we were all set. What a great memory!

Many thanks to John and Elaine for the use of their holiday home in Hyannis which was perfect for us as a family of 2 adults and 4 kids. We enjoyed the location, the sunshine, the beach, the shops and the JFK trail and museum in the area. Could have stayed for longer and done much more. House was comfy and warm and kitchen was very well supplied with everything we needed. Thanks again x

Charming Cottage with every convenience
The cottage is on a lovely quiet little street, very close to a small beach. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Hyannis Port is approx a mile away, where you can take the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. We enjoyed the whale watching trip and would recommend a visit to Provincetown.
For stocking up on supplies we recommend the Star Market on W. Main Street, and for dining, The Black Cat Hyannis Port.
We would love to go back there and would definitely recommend.

Quiet Quaint & Homely - Norris
Great house with lots of charm & character taking a nod to the locality. House itself is well equipped with everything you need including beach accessories / towels etc & wine bottle opener ! We took master bedroom ( v comfy ), but house has another room with a double bed & bunks. Kitchen is big enough for 6 eating / cooking. Aircon enabled if needed. Located in a quiet area with off street garden parking in a residential street.
The beach is a 2 min walk & 10/15 mins to main street up a single tree lined avenue, handy enough. We'd recommend & stay there again if we returned to Cape Cod.
We had no need to communicate with owners during our stay, all was there in the house manual for you to read. Communication beforehand & booking was very easy. Deposit promptly returned also. Yeah, dont overlook Norris St ! Tks E & J.

Great Location!
Couldn't be a perfect place... Steps from the beach and all major attractions in Hyannis.
We were five, my husband a 3 teenage girls. We enjoyed this cute and very well maintained house. Elaine was all the time in contact with us to know if anything was needed. This was our 4th year in Hyannis and definitely we will be back to this fantastic cottage.
