About this cabin rental
A private residence on Lake McDonald inside Glacier National Park. Enjoy the comfort and privacy of your own cabin with a stunning view of Lake McDonald and the mountains surrounding Going-to-the-Sun Road. Soak your feet in the lake or walk into Apgar village and enjoy all that the park has to offer. Only minutes from spectacular hiking, world-class golf resorts and wild and scenic rivers. A previous renter left the following note, 'Everything was fantastic: the cabin was spotless, all the utensils, linens, books, etc., etc., were more than enough. Suggestions for improvement...don't change a thing. With that view, a tent and a bucket of water would do just fine!'
This lovely cedar cabin has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen size bed, one king size bed and a fold-out futon in the living room. The hard wood floors, woven rugs, fireplace and cedar furniture complete this cozy retreat. A covered deck with fire pit extends across the front of the cabin - the perfect place to enjoy the view. The cabin is fully furnished to provide you a comfortable and relaxing vacation.
A reservation at Lake McDonald Cabin does not include your ticketed access needed to drive Going-to-the Sun Road (GTTS) inside the Park from the west side. You will need to secure a vehicle reservation permit from the Park (see the Park website for details). Access is available without a Permit before or after the Check Point is staffed (usually before 6:00 am, or after 3:00 pm); travel to the east entrance 100 miles away (no permit is required at that entrance); or, use the bus shuttle service or red bus tour). Lake McDonald cabin is within 5 minutes of the Check Point site.

This is my second time to stay here. I have no complaints, and am planning on returning. The view from the living room and porch says it all

It’s hard to put into words how wonderful our stay was. The weather was perfect which just amplified the experience of staying in this beautiful home. This may be a cabin, but it doesn’t feel like it. The kitchen is updated, beds are super comfortable, and water pressure is good. The view and porch are everything. The porch is so well done for grilling out, relaxing, and staring at the view.

I have seen this cabin over the years during my visits to Glacier and this summer was lucky enough to stay there for 4 days during our 10-day Glacier trip. The cabin is well-appointed, and fully stocked and everything is well cared for. The views are breathtaking, we woke up early each day to see the sunrise and stayed up late for magical sunsets. I can't wait to come back and stay here again.

Great property in an ideal location. We spent all our time on the covered back deck taking in the most beautiful view. Very private cabin but still close to shops and restaurant. Very comfortable bed and great water pressure.

Upscale cabin with beautiful lake and glacier mountain views from the fantastic deck. Well equipped kitchen and high thread count linens on the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on.
Highly recommend!!

The view was AMAZING! Super convenient- right inside Glacier National Park. Charming details to discover inside. Loved the fire pit. Comfortable bed. Turn on the fireplace with the flick of a switch. Very private. All on one level. I would love to come back here & bring everyone I love! The lake view is mesmerizing!

We felt privileged to stay at this cabin inside of the park. Stunning views. Comfortable beds (a king and a queen), a fully stocked kitchen. A deck with a propane fire pit for cool nights. An easy walk to Apgar Village, a few nice trails, and the Visitors Center. Much attention to details by the owners. Very clean and well appointed.

Amazing in every way! The location gives you the very best views and convenient to a small village of stores and restaurants. The hosts provide just about every amenities you might need. Spent most of our time on the beautiful porch soaking up the breathtaking views. Hope to stay there again.

We have stayed at many rentals in our travels. This one had the most beautiful view and convenient location for visiting GNP. The sunrises, sunsets, and the starry night sky were so beautiful! The fire table on the covered porch so cozy! We rented a kayak to enjoy the lake and saw some eagles. So many adventures but the main thing I’d like to convey is be sure you get on “The Going To the Sun Road” early at 6:00AM (which was very close by) due to parking at Logan’s Pass. You won’t need to buy bear spray because we left ours there with several other unused cans…can’t take on the plane. Everything was provided except for any food you would buy on the way in at Columbia Falls or Whitefish. Our favorite restaurant was in the historic hotel “Izaac Walton” at switching yard in Essex, on the way back from the Two Medicine section of park. My husband loved the freight and Amtrak Train going by from their porch dining. The Huckleberry cobbler with ice cream was yummy!
We highly recommend this cabin and hope to be back again someday. Our 40th Anniversary there was unforgettable. Perfect setting! Thank you to the hosts for offering your lovely, well equipped home.

It was an absolute privilege to stay in this cabin and we were so grateful to the family for sharing it with others. If you know Glacier National Park, you know the location of this is so special. The photos do not do the interior justice nor do they convey the hospitality and thoughtful touches by the hosts, Bob & Paula. We enjoyed many quiet evenings on the deck around the fire pit and when the weather turned windy and cool we loved being able to watch the drama on the lake from indoors. It's obvious that the hosts love their cabin and want their guests to have a great experience, from the welcome basket to the extra propane for the grill/fire pit. The kitchen has just about every utensil or tool you could possibly need, and the appliances were seemingly brand new. Thanks again Bob & Paula for one of our best Glacier memories yet.

Our family enjoyed a whole week at the lake house and we were sad to leave by the end of it. We spent most of each day out on the deck admiring the view or out on the lake paddle boarding. Absolute gem right in the midst of Glacier National Park, walking distance to Apgar Village and right off the famous Going to the Sun Road. Highly recommend catching as many sunsets and sunrises off the deck as possible. Thank you to the hosts for a memorable stay our family will always remember.

We have stayed at this cabin in the past and have never been disappointed. The cabin met all of our needs and offered the most beautiful view of Lake McDonald. Words can't describe what a great experience it has been to stay here and we look forward to staying again in the future. It is the ultimate Glacier experience!

Gorgeous lakefront cabin with amazing views
You won't want to leave the cabin once you check in, so I recommend you come with everything you will need. We planned our trip so that we had already explored Glacier NP in the days leading up to our stay, so we spent most of the weekend at the cabin, swimming, grilling, and relaxing. The kids played at the lake's edge and we enjoyed the expansive deck and unparalleled views of GNP from inside the cabin. We had beautiful weather the whole time and the last night we got to witness a thunderstorm blowing in from the East, coming across the lake towards us. It was so hard to check out and leave those views behind. We felt fortunate to be staying inside the GNP and didn't feel like we needed to go anywhere. We did drive to the Lake McDonald Lodge our last night and enjoyed the most amazing stormy sunset. Getting caught by the road construction closure by 2 minutes, just meant we got to explore and experience Lake McDonald after dark. My favorite things about the cabin were the view and all the amenities: comfortable furniture on the deck, grill, outdoor fireplace, laundry facilities, welcome basket with jam, sauce and taffy, two full bathrooms, lakefront, and proximity to town and everything in West Glacier. Stay here. You won't regret it.

This property could not be better. It is on Lake McDonald and provides stunning views. The covered porch made it lovely even in the rainiest weather. The cottage has anything you could possibly need and is conveniently located. The hosts were responsive and helpful, but there was no need to reach out to them while there because they thought of everything.

Bob and Paula are wonderful hosts. They had the cabin in perfect condition with maybe the best bedding anywhere we have stayed! Well furnished, super clean, leaving no stone unturned. Need Bear spray? Got it. Need Binoculars? Check. How about treats? Check, got those too. Trail books? No problem, pick from several. This cabin was the absolute perfect Glacier cabin. Pictures on listing truly do not do the property justice. Every morning began with coffee on the deck staring down Lake McDonald into the heart of the park and every night ended with wine on the deck enjoying the sunset illuminating the Garden Wall off in the distance. You can walk to any store in Apgar. This is a cabin I hope we can reserve every year. Thanks Bob and Paula! We miss your home like a friend. Can’t wait to return!

Fantastic stay
We've been coming to Glacier for 40 years, but this was our first time in this cabin; we hope it won't be our last! We were particularly impressed by the accurate description of a well-equipped cabin; the excellent, timely communication from the owners; the great location on the west side of Glacier.

This lovely cabin on Lake McDonald exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable, well-stocked and very clean. The view was spectacular and having a fire pit right on the deck was a huge bonus. We didn’t feel isolated – plenty of activities and places to eat that were within a short drive – but it still was peaceful and serene. Couldn’t have asked for more and would highly recommend.
