I have stayed here many times over the last 10 years. The pond in the back is great for swimming, fishing, and canoeing. The back deck overlooks it so you never really feel like you’re disconnected from the rest of the group. I hope to be back next year!

Our host, Tom, is amazing. He is very helpful and responsive to requests. We found the rustic cabin to be charming and met our needs. We love the layout of the house and to have your own private pond with a beach is the best! The cabin is in the woods with insects and poison ivy near by, welcome to nature! It is next to the beach, there will be sand. The house provides essentials like laundry detergent, salt, pepper, cooking oil, and condiments. It could use a deep clean and dusting, however, the bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, bedding, and living areas were just fine and adds to the rustic feel. We would definitely go back again.

We had a blast and the owner was so easy to work with. The house is clean and well stocked. Beds and couches were comfortable. There are multiple washer and dryers. The property was fantastic. We were worried about bugs before getting to the outside pond, but we never got bit once! The pond is treated and dock is sturdy. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

As soon as we arrived, we could tell the pictures online didn't depict the present state of the place. Quite grown up with poison ivy growing out of the steps, vines and weeds growing up the balcony, an old pontoon boat washed up on the side of the pond that looked like a shipwreck. The kitchen floor was filled with dog hair. We actually filled a dustpan full. Wiring exposed in the basement and extremely outdated furniture. There were 4 pinball machines and none worked. The zipline was very dangerous and wouldn't advise using. Those were both selling points for me booking the place. Never saw a fountain like is pictured in the pond. Overall we were very disappointed.

Overall a pretty decent stay. Would have been better if the moment we got there the porch didn't have piles of clothes on it and the master bedroom didn't leak when it rained.

We booked this cabin for a camp-themed bachelorette party with a party size of 12 girls. We were looking for a rustic cabin with privacy and easy access to the wine trail - exactly what we got! Communicating with Tom, the host, was seamless and helpful, as he always accommodated our needs and offered advice or help whenever needed, he was very welcoming, as was his son! We were able to decorate for our bride and use the house to its full capacity. The pond was AMAZING - we used the zipline which was a huge bonus, paddled in the paddle boat, and jumped off of the dock! The beach was clean and chairs and firepit were ready for use. The house was stocked with dishware, trash bags, toilet rolls, and towels, which made our trip far easier! The beds were comfortable and the bedding was sufficient. I will say that the house is indeed a true cabin, which means it will have some dirt and bugs that intrude, and it is perfect for those who are looking for a woodsy experience!! We had an absolutely wonderful time and would definitely stay again, as well as recommend it to low-maintenance people looking for an authentic cabin in the woods experience! Thank you Tom and hosts for making this a lovely and unique weekend the bride and her cabin crew will never forget and cherish forever!

Pictures of property are outdated. One TV in house in main living area none in bedrooms, pool table is torn and pool cues are broken and don’t have felt tips. The fridge is not the stainless steel one pictured. Ceiling fans haven’t been dusted in years and there’s mold from multiple water leaks in home. Tom is a good guy and was responsive when we contacted him but the property overall needs a deep cleaning and updating.

We had 12 people ages 1-73 and everyone had a great time. The highlight of the property i the private pond and beach. Canoes and a paddle boat are there and we brought lots of floats. The fishing was also good. The game room downstairs was also a hit.

While the property owner was a nice person he was behind on alot of the property maintainance. The swimming pond was in poor shape as the filtration system was broken and made for unfavorable conditions for swimming. Indoors we dealt with burnt out light bulbs to grimey cabinets and filthy room fans. Kitchen was ill equiped...no teaspoons! Plenty of pans but not enough plates
and bowls for more than 4 people.
While the 4G signal was good it was not good enough for gaming. No cable or satellite tv and though the photos showed a tv in all the bedrooms that was not the case.
Living room seating was limited...with only a sofa & only 1 chair and uncomfortable.
The photos were very misleading!
Do not recommend!

Well, this cabin is in a great location and has a ton of potential, the property has not been maintained and I would not recommend anyone make the same mistake that I did. When it rained this weekend, it also rained inside of our room and on top of some peoples belongings. In another room, the air conditioner also leaked and dripped all over a different person belonging. This property cleans to be able to handle more people than it really can and we had trouble getting everybody comfortable. It was dirty. Moldy. Not cleaned. Cobwebs. Rust. Beyond a typical, cabin in the woods. There was not even A frying pan that I could cook eggs in, and we had to go to HomeGoods to buy stuff to cook our food in. I would not say that I am bougie and I have camped in the woods and done a lot of things but this place is beyond bad compared to how it is advertised.

The cabin itself has a nice layout with a quaint view and big beautiful windows. Unfortunately there is no hot tub as was in the listing, the pinball machines require quarters and overall the space is no well kept or stocked.
We are a family of four and had one other family stay with us, but we didn’t have enough sheets, blankets or pillows.
The location is great with an easy drive to giant city.

All in all, probably fine if you don’t expect too much. The pictures don’t really reflect the current condition which has become somewhat dingy, tired and neglected. Beds and bathrooms are clean enough and has all the features that are listed. Tom seems like a nice guy. It’s just so disappointing to see the place have such potential and expecting it to be like the pictures and then find it in need of SO much attention. Once all the fees were added in, the cost seemed really high for what you got (maybe if your group is large it makes sense…). You may very well enjoy the experience…if your standards aren’t too high.

It was breath taking with the pond the private beach and everything. Will definitely be booking again!

There were 10 of us for a weekend winery getaway. The weather was chilly so we didn't use the lake but enjoyed the view and got some nice outdoor family photos. The cabin was within 6 miles to several wineries. In the evenings we enjoyed hanging out in the open kitchen/living room area.
We had read that we should bring quarters for the pinball machines. There are 4 machines, but only one of them worked. That was really the only bummer.
We would recommend this place to any groups wanting to spend time together!

tl;dr: Amazing place, wonderful host.
This is the perfect spot for a classic family lake vacation. You have all the water to yourself, and you can’t even see other houses. Feels very private and secluded but everything you need is close by. Tom is very responsive and thoughtful, he definitely knows how to set up a good time for the kids. Set up a fire for us and hid seashells for them There are lots of water/sand toys, floats, the zip line (even I rode it, it was A BLAST), pinball, foosball, pool table, and big tv. The cabin itself is lovely, not fussy, clean and comfortable, no knick knacks for my kids to break. The coop grocery nearby had lots of delicious treats to eat. The kids unanimously voted it was better than Florida, which is great cause it is about 15 hours less driving! Will definitely book again.

We had a great time at this cabin with 9 people aged from 7-83. The house has many different places to gather, the kids loved the game room in the basement. The living room is comfy with lots of seating. The kitchen is well equipped, the black stone grill on the front porch was great for both burgers for dinner and eggs for breakfast. The wrap around porch provided wonderful views of the pond as well as awesome star gazing opportunities. The beach and pond were GREAT! The beach has tons of of chairs to enjoy a the fire pit in the evening. Canoes, pool floaties, life jackets and pond zip line were all a big hit. Good fishing in the pond too! Be sure to take advantage of the owners firewood service. It is a minimal extra fee and SO worth it! He provides wood, kindling and paper to have the best evening. The bedrooms had nice clean fresh linens, all in our party slept well. We look forward to returning!

Nice and quiet place to stay that felt far enough away/ secluded but also convenient to anything we needed. Quick trip to the wine trails. We all enjoyed our weekend!

Stayed here for 5 days and we didn't have any issues. Tom was very easy to contact if needed and came out promptly to adjust the zipline when asked. He gave some great recommendations for local restaurants as well.

Tom’s cabin is perfect for a group of friends. The grill is great to cook on and there are enough bathrooms for a larger group. The beach is fun to relax on and have a nighttime bonfire. It’s not the most updated or modern, but it has good bones. Overall we would recommend for a friends getaway!

We were in the area for a wedding and needed a place that could hold a medium sized group of people. This place did not disappoint! Tom was great with communication and was very helpful.

We were there long enough to shower, sleep and leave. Only 1 pinball machine worked while there; coins stuck in others. Communication was not the best, but worked it out in the end.

Went to pick up our daughter from SIU and enjoyed the water and private beach. Kids had fun on the zip line and our dogged loved playing in the water.

This was about 6-7 min drive from the strip. Good place to stay for our group of 9.

Wow. I was traveling to SIU for a state science fair with my child and a few other other families. 10 of us total stayed in the house. The kids had THE best time on the zip line and canoes while the adults looked on from the spacious deck above. An evening at the fire pit plus a kids area in the basement made for a pleasant time. A true cabin like experience with none of the city slicker frills. It was perfect and the kids loved it. Thank you Tom!

Great site for our family wine trip. Convenient check in. The turn off for the cabin wasn't marked and quarters are needed for the games in the basement. Note, that it's right across the road from a track and trains went by twice (day and night) while we were there.

When looking for location to stay I made sure I asked permission for early check in due to driving 16hr through the night. Property owner stated, "yes absolutely no problem." We arrive at 0700 and there are people in the cabin. I have 7adults and 5children(4mths-7yrs). I csll the owner he states mistakes happen and we can go over to a one bedroom cabin to change and shower but own cabin will not be available until 1:30. He was rude to me questioning me about my reservation and I stated our conversation on the app. He said yes he understood but things happen and we can go freshen up at the small cabin. Hr then talked to my husband in a total different tone. We arrived at 240pm and the cleaning lady was still at the cabin. We stated to her we are having 55 people arriving tomorrow and not surr where to park she stated no one will be at the other cabins and you can use parking over there. I stated thank you. When we went in the house the pinball machines had notes on them stating $.25 which is not enclosed in the reservation. Cigarettes butts and trash outside on deck and grounds. The clean up sheets states you will be charged for trash and cigarette butts. None of us smoke so that would have been a charge on us that we don't even apply to us. picked up three bags of trash outside the grounds when we arrived. The outside is unsafe. The dock stairs and deck are safety hazards. There is a old boat, chairs, metal, and other large objects on the grounds in piles. The inside is nice and true to pictures on site. We asked permission prior to arrival to have a family gathering on the next day which we were given permission. When family arrived I received a phone call from owner telling me we have a huge problem stating I registered under a false name and I didn't have permission for the family gathering. I stated I emailed permission and was granted full permission and your cleaning lady told us where to park cars. He was extremely rude and hateful to me. When I stated I have email confirmation on all events he said send it to him. I told him everyone that was coming is here. He you never know people destroying the place and you need to look out . I said well my family will be gone by 6pm. We were departing at 3am so we needed to rest. He told several family members they need to make sure they moved there cars by 5pm. After I gave him proof of our conversation and with Martha he never said another word. I would not stay nor recommend this location to anyone

Came in from STL to spend the weekend here and had a blast! One thing to note is to bring sleeping masks if you want to sleep in! The upstairs bedrooms have skylights so it can get pretty bright in the morning. Otherwise, I have no complaints and really enjoyed my stay.

We stayed here with 5 adults, 2 dogs and our twin babies (4 months)
It was lovely! Despite rainy weather, we swam, barbecued and had a ball. As some of the other reviews mentioned, sand makes its way into the home after spending time down by the water - but in my mind, that’s a small price to pay for having a beach to play on. When we checked in it was clean, so any issue of sand was 100% on us and we were able to sweep it up easily. There is also a shower under the deck to rinse off, 3 sets of washer/dryers (!!!) and multiple large bathrooms to shower off in. We loved the zip line, pond, woodsy aesthetic of the home and enjoyed meeting Tom, the owner. We will be back for sure! - the Wilsons/Freeman’s

We loved staying here and Tom made everything perfect! He was so kind and helpful. Our dogs loved swimming in the pond and playing in the sand. The zip line, pinball machines, boats, and fire pit were all so fun! We had a big crowd and we felt like there was plenty of space and bathrooms. Highly recommend everyone stay here! We will definitely come back. Thanks again!

You are definitely paying for the outdoor experience here. The pond was incredible, as was the beach. The kids, dogs, and adults all enjoyed it equally. Luckily, the weather was beautiful so we did not spend much time inside. Thank you Tom!

We rented this property over Memorial Day Weekend and had a blast. The kitchen is stocked with the basics and the zip line, beach, and pond were super fun to hang out on. The place also had a fire pit and grill that we were able to use. Highly recommend for a large group!
