The stay was great. Only issue encountered is we thought the couch was a hide-a-bed, but it did not open up. The cabin was well kept and the owners are very nice.

My son & I stayed at the property the night before freshman move in at SIU. The cabin was clean, cozy & comfortable. We fed the turtles and fish in the lake. It was a peaceful night before the craziness of move in.

Where do I start!! To get to this cabin you drive through roughly a half mile of pure filth. From random trash to store manicanes, he has it all. So much that you have to squeeze your vehicle through the
Roadway. Once you enter, you are greeted with only 1 bed, no sofa sleeper as promised. So beware..it only sleeps 2 not 4. If you can get passed this, pay no attention to the 3 inch thick filth that covers every inch of the cabin. It is apparent the pictures taken were the last time it has been cleaned. We expressed our concerns to Tom, and he told us we would get a full refund so we left. Do not believe Tom, he is shady and lies. We still have not gotten a refund because we did not wqnt to stay with bugs- filth- hoardinf- and naked manicanes. We have plenty of pictures of you need to see them.
roqdway. road, barely fitting.

The cabin was nice, exactly as pictured. It was a great location to go into Carbondale to eat, down the road to hike Giant City, or drive 30 minutes to several hikes or wine tasting in the area. We appreciated the friendly host and well equipped cabin.

It was just fantastic!! Tom was a awesome host. Cabins are far enough out where it's quiet but just a short drive to everything

The first impression was not so good. Once we turned into the area, my wife and I thought, "What have we gotten ourselves into?" The place looked like a junk yard. Inside the cabin was very different. It was everything it was advertised to be. It was small and cozy. I’m glad we had no kids with us. That would have been a tight fit, but for the two of us, fine. It was neat, clean, and comfortable. AC worked just fine. We did use the kitchen a little and was very glad for it. I was happy to find it had a full size coffee maker, not one of those 4 cup models and a full size refrigerator.

Called an hour before arriving like requested and they still weren't prepared. When i showed up tom was upset i bought my own fire wood from the Walmart in town. Property was unkept and hideous(garbage and junk all around). The cabin is in desperate need of repairs. Had to clean PUBES OF THE TOILET so my girlfriend could use it. Not a friendly host. Not a good property. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

For my birthday, my partner and I decided to book Tom's cozy cabin for a little stay-cation with our pup. It was beyond amazing and surpassed all expectations. Check-in was extremely easy and we walked in the cabin doors to the fire already set up and going for us, setting the tone for our very cozy stay!
The cabin had everything you would need - DVD player with a decent selection, stereo, coffee maker, kitchen supplies, and plenty of towels! There's no wifi, which was appealing to us! It allowed us to catch up with one another, connect with nature, practice some painting, and read those books that have been collecting dust in our home for some time!
I can't put into words how much we enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend Tom's cabin to friends/family and hope to return soon!

The inside of the cabin was pretty neat. All wood flooring which was great for a pet friendly cabin.
The outside was a little sketchy. A lot of junk laying around and decks/deck furniture was pretty dirty.
Property owner was very pleasant to deal with.

Cabin 3
We stayed here for a few days while we were having some remodeling done. Tom was a gracious host and allowed our dogs to stay with us. The cabin was comfortable and stocked with everything we needed except food. Hot water was plentiful and the AC worked great. It is a rustic cabin setting so there were the normal mosquitoes and poison ivy issues outside but nothing we couldn’t handle. We would stay here again.

Perfect
This cabin was perfect to relax and unplug. Tom and Martha were great hosts. Interesting collection of art inside the cabin and out. We brought food and cooked in every day.
Hiked some. Sat by the lake and watched the geese and meditated. Definitely will come back! Loved our week here!
Thank you Tom and Martha :)

Great Retreat
My wife and I had a very relaxing time here. The property was very close to SIU campus and many place to eat in Carbondale. It was also very close to Giant City State Park and we took advantage of that several times. Great little get away spot close to the action in town. We would have no issue staying here again in the future.

Great for a weekend getaway
Spent an excellent weekend at Tom’s cabin. Perfect location for exploring Shawnee National Forest and other local hikes. Tom was super friendly and had great recommendations for things to do in the area. Property was well maintained and had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Super cozy and loved the fireplace. Would highly recommend!

Cabin 3
Cabin was nice. Could have been a little cleaner as there was a mouse nest we had to dispose of in the bedroom dresser. A dead mouse in a trap on the counter. The pond says you can fish in it but it didn't have much access for fishing and was scummed over.
