Not great communication. No response when asked if early check in was possible.
"Hot tub" listed in amenities is actually a jet bathtub (standard tub size)
Never have i been charged a cleaning fee and then have the owner expect us to sweep, mop, dust, change light bulbs if they burn out, take garbahe to curb, etc.

We had a nice time here. The house has many amenities, lots of beds, good outdoor facilities like the firepit and dock, and Lake Holcombe has many miles of shoreline to explore. Overall we were quite happy with the place

The entire place was just great. My family enjoyed it very much from just relaxing to playing the games in the lower level, to having a relaxing camp fire. Would recommend it highly.

We were very pleased with the property, location, and experience. Large enough for our family with room to spare. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the large deck, fishing, kayaking, playing games in the yard, and using the fire pit.
10.0 / 10.0
Excellent place to stay but not on the lake with the lake view or a good place for kids to swim at the cabin.
Wonderful place to stay. Not a fan of the sprinkler system.

The pictures don’t do the cabin justice! The home is great!
Only possible downside is pretty limited privacy but neighbors were all kind and welcoming.

Ww noticed some things that would make this place a bit more user friendly.
In Bathrooms:Shower mats, grab bars, soap dispensers, hand held hairdryers.hooks for robes and PJ's
Kitchen: could use a larger salad bowl and a serving platter(perhaps these were there but we didnt find them. Need new aluminum foil.
Lightbulba are out in several bedrooms and one is flickering in the upstairs bath.
Some switch plates are loosevand need tightening. We wpuld suggest removing the old Wi-Fi password in the guesr binder
Taller nightstands next ti beds to .ake ug easier to read.
New coffee maker instructions, the original ones were stuck together.

The house was big with plenty of room for our family. Communication with the host was great up until we arrived. I tried reaching out about an issue with one of the beds, and had a couple other questions about things in the house, but the host never replied. It would have been nice just to get a message upon arrival of 'Hope everything is OK, let me know if you have questions or if there are any problems.' Good thing there were no major problems; we would have been screwed trying to communicate with the host.

Rave Reviews
I was the organizer for our extended family gathering, and I got rave reviews for this spacious home with access to Lake Holcomb. The adults enjoyed grilling and relaxing on the deck while the teens and younger kid played in the gameroom. Great find!

House on the Canal
Nice place and great location. Only TV is on top floor up a long stairs. The 2 sofas on main floor were not comfortable at all. Nobody used them. Have stayed a lot of places and never seen a house rule book like that before. Checking out an hour earlier than other places is ok except doing the bedding is not a possible task with that timeline. Great parking area for boats and trailers.

Secluded getaway
I rented this property for a staff family retreat in June. There were 8 adults and 7 kids total.
Pros:
- Huge property. Plenty of space to spend time together or on your own.
- Cabin feels. The decor and interior design were on point with the location (riverside).
- Plenty of parking. We had 4 cars total (2 vans, 2 trucks). It would have easily fit another 2 cars.
- TV wasn't the central feature of the main living room. This discouraged kids and adults alike to stay away from screens.
- Close to dam and river access.
- Close to swimming beach (we walked the 3/4 miles to and from with a baby and toddler in tow).
- Keurig and coffee were included.
- Kitchen is spacious and made for easy cooking.
- Linens provided.
- Home was mostly clean.
- In-home washer and dryer.
- Prior to the visit the hosts were fast to respond.
Cons:
- Septic tank must have been full or near full. It was pretty smelly outside and limited our time spent outdoors on the property.
- Huge hair ball was found in one of the beds.
- Guests are expected to strip linens and start their own housekeeping (sorting the dirty bedding and starting the laundry machines if able).
- Fishing in the area was disappointing (4 walleye caught from the shore over 4 hours in the dam and river areas).
- No fish for fishing right off the dock in the backyard.
- Lots of seaweed in the docking area off the dock in the backyard. The kids did not want to play in the water back there at all.
- No front door. This was just a bit confusing, as we walked around the entire house once to see if we had the right door and could disarm the alarm in time.
- Uncomfortable mattresses in the bonus bunk room. They were lumpy.
- Check-out time was unreasonably early considering they ask you to start washing the linens before you leave.
- The phone number listed on the post must not be accurate. We were low on toilet paper. I texted the number and did not get a response at all from the hosts.

Nice Lake Home
The property is kept up really well. I feel that the home is actually beyond how it is displayed in the profile. Overall management of the property is professionally handled.

Christmas Away
Very comfortable, large cabin for a Christmas celebration of 16 people (covid limited us to less than 16). Well supplied and owners were friendly and available via phone during the stay. We're thinking of coming back for summer fun!

Not Quite What Was Expected
We booked this property 8 months in advance based upon it's location being near family who have homes on the lake. We arrived to find the home not clean. I travel monthly for work, and am very familiar with normal standards. The coffee pot had not been washed between rentals and had dried coffee in the bottom. Utensils in the drawers had dried food on them. The floors were dirty, and next to the garbage compactor the floor was filthy with food and dirt that had accumulated between it and the wall. The living room had not been dusted all summer. We did not turn on the ceiling fan because of the thick dust hanging from the blades. Vents were black with accumulated dirt. The garage is not as it appears on the listing photos. It was cluttered with bikes and chairs, and more, along with lint and dustballs all over the entry. We found that this was due to the dryer being vented into the garage. I did take pictures of all of this for reference. I believe the cleanliness issues are due to the home being turned over too quickly between guests, as mentioned in another review. As is standard in rentals, a cleaning fee is charged to guests. It was very disappointing to then find instructions in the home making guests responsible for most of the cleaning themselves. "Clean bathroom, dust, sweep, and vacuum. Clean the grill...wipe refrigerator clean. Strip sheets.....bedding. Sort bedding/towels by color and wash/dry as many loads as time allows." And do all of this and be out by 10am or you're charged a late fee. And yes, the sprinkler system is annoying going off while you're enjoying the yard. We had a wonderful five days together, the location was perfect for us, but we did expect better conditions for the price we paid. We plan to make this an annual tradition but would not return to this rental.

Great for family/group gatherings
We hosted a "college reunion" and this property provided the perfect space to catch up with friends and make new memories. The spacious kitchen/living area on the main floor and gameroom bar in the basement were great for enjoying meals and playing games. The secluded channel off of Pine Lake and the Holcombe Flowage is great for having access to fishing and watersports while still being quiet. Overall a great property and one we hope to come back to.

Stay
We had a great time. Place was clean and quiet. Grill worked great for all meals. Just wish there were more containers for left overs (there were some containers but no covers that fit them)and larger containers for mixing things in. Otherwise overall it was a nice stay.

Great for big families
Very nice home and wished part of it group didn't cancel as to take advantage of the game room. Mostly cooked and slept there, gone most of the time. Wish we would have used with a boat. Maybe next time!

Family Reunion
We enjoyed our time at this property. The size of the property was just right for our family. We would have enjoyed the yard more except the sprinklers went off at various times during each day and we did not enjoy playing "sprinkler roulette"!

Wonderful Family Gathering
Renting and communication with the Owners was super easy. They were very responsive during the rental process. We did not have and issues that requires us to have to communicate during our stay but I imagine it would be as easy and they would be very responsive.
The house was perfect for our family gathering. Everything we needed was right there! Beautifully decorated home and grounds area. Super easy access to Lake Holcombe. It was the family time we needed after a tough few years.

Enjoyed the Holcome area and the comfort of the lodge!
Lovedlooking out over the property, sun porch mornings with our coffee and late afternoon on the deck.
Green grass - however, the sprinklers went off at 1/2 hour intervals during the day. Not sure that was good for the sod and summer heat/sun.
Shore line - was hard to get into & out of kayaks. Manageable, but having a spot to launch the kayaks would be wonderful!
Overall - loved the view, deck and ammenities!! Thank you!

First time in the area and we were very impressed. Very nice quiet location.
Only thing we would change was to add a TV in the living room for down times. The pictures on the site were pretty accurate but you should really update the pictures to show the true beauty of the place. Overall we were very happy with our stay and we more than likely be back. Thank you for everything.

Relaxing Getaway on the Lake
We had a wonderful vacation at Lake Holcomb. The house had more than enough space for two families with kids and stocked with everything we needed. The quick access to the lake from the channel was perfect for spending days on the water. Our one rainy day was entertained by the rec room in the basement full of games (ping pong, air hockey, etc). We will definitley consider another vacation at Lake Holcomb!

Beautiful Property!
The house is very well-situated, with plenty of parking and nicely furnished. The walk down to the channel that connects to the lake is relatively flat and close, and there were a few sunfish to be had from the bank.
The short channel out to Pine Lake is narrow, but easily navigable, and from there it provides access to the whole flowage.
My extended family and I enjoyed our time there very much, and will definitely consider returning!

Comfortable for single or multiple families
We really enjoyed our stay. The access to Pine Lake and Lake Holcombe from the cove is great. If you need to gas up or grab a bite to eat, Ted’s is right across the way by boat. The house is well taken care of and there is plenty of room in the yard for lounging or playing games.

Get location for family gathering
My family of 20 really enjoyed staying at this spacious lodge. Kids were able to fish off the dock and the dock was perfect for keeping our boat docked.
6.0 / 10.0
Just OK
The house had plenty of space for our large group, but the overall cleanliness was not what we were anticipating. Upon check-in, there was sand all over the kitchen floor (which my father-in-law quickly vacuumed up), food on the floor in the master suite, and used tissues on the carpet in the loft area. Also, most of the drawers on the dressers in the bunk room were broken, so we just had our kids keep their clothes in their suitcases. On the plus side, there were plenty of beds for them, and they really enjoyed having their own little retreat.
The slot machines in the basement do not work (or at least they didn't when we stayed). I let the owners know, and they were quick to respond and tell us that the previous renters had lost the key that operates them.
The dock was wonderful to have, and access to the river flowage very easy.
We had a great time at Eastbay. Some of us went by car, some by boat. The weather was fabulous, so we sat in the tiki bar and had drinks while the kids played bags and sand volleyball. Would definitely recommend going there if you stay in this area.
We all agreed that the check-out requirements seemed extreme, and simply checking in and leaving can be a bit tricky with the security system.
All-in-all it was a nice time in a nice, quiet area.

A quiet get away lodge, perfect peace
There was much to like about this place, location in a very quiet neighborhood, peaceful at all time, water inlet to the lake, a fire pit if you wanted to roast marshmallows at night, a well supplied kitchen, enough rooms to sleep 4 couples in separate rooms, but the beds, frankly were outdated and not as comfortable as one would have wished. We were frank caught off guard about having to do our own laundry and cleanup, especially when we were charged a cleaning fee to boot, however we complied totally, and left just absolute bare essential less than a load for the cleaning service. Overall, a very good place to stay, and nice people to work with in making arrangements, so over all we would give 5 stars to this owner. And we had a great get-away with family!
