About this house rental
Pebble Beach View Vacation Rental & Guest House - This older oceanfront beach house (2 BR/2 BA) has been expanded in size from the original house to maximize the beautiful ocean views from living room, dining and master bedroom areas. Spacious master bedroom has a queen bed, a sofa/futon, plenty of closets, a tiled shower, double sinks and dressing area. 2nd bedroom has a queen bed & an older twin sofa sleeper (sofa sleeper is best for kids rather than adults). Living room has some couches (couch or sofa bed sleeping is probably more comfortable for kids, rather than adults). Stairs to the beach are right out the front door! At some times of the year, there may be availability of a separate second story (above the garage) studio/loft available to add on, also, for around half the cost of the main house (that adds another bedroom, kitchenette, and bath, and 2nd story ocean view deck, making it 3 BR/3 BA). This house has an amazing view! Wireless internet conncetion and Spectrum/Frontier TV!
Located on South Pebble Beach Drive (the most breathtaking drive on the North Coast!) near to Redwood National Park, Battery Point Lighthouse, Crescent City Harbor, Ocean World, Trees of Mystery (Klamath), the Smith and Klamath Rivers, Lake Earl Wildlife Area, Del Norte County Airport, Sutter Coast Hospital, Pelican Bay State Prison, and it's only 20 miles up Coast Highway 101 to the Oregon border and Brookings. We encourage Exchange Stays with other Vacation Rental Owners through the iTravex website online. (Ours is #9977)
Pebble Beach offers the Pacific's most spectacular sunsets, plus a view of distant Point St. George Lighthouse out at sea. We think it's the most beautiful spot on Earth!-- Listen to sea lions and sea birds, plus take advantage of the free stress-reducing therapy offered by the sight and sound of the ocean waves!-- We've had many satisfied guests. Nice and close to the beach. Convenient for older folks. Beds were very comfortable

Beautiful views of ocean.

This house is perfect for us. The hostess is the best person ever. Can't wait to go back.

We chose this VRBO because of the location and the view. It did not disappoint. The house is older and needs updated, but it was sufficient for our needs. The ocean view is spectacular and beach access is right across the street.

Great location! Comfy beds for everyone. So close to Ocean and to Redwoods.
Be sure to bring gear for cooking. There are enough plates and cups.

My family and I loved staying at this house on Pebble Beach! The sunsets were truly spectacular and we opened the windows to sleep with the sound of ocean waves and sea lions in the distance!

We enjoyed the beautiful views from the living room with easy access to the beach. Lori was friendly and very response to any questions.

Coffee pot didn't work, toaster half worked, no chopping board. Oven was turning on by itself until we figured out the knob was on wrong and we were able to turn it off. Overall cleanliness was very poor. Master bathroom shower door kept falling off. No towels untill we found them left in the dryer by the cleaning people in the filthy laundry room. We also found mouse droppings in the house. The only good thing is the nice beach across the street and the view.

Stayed one week. Loved the redwoods and ocean. Location was perfect. House was fine. House keeper didn’t finish washing the linen but the house had clean linen on beds and towels in Bathrooms. Host was great and helpful.

Gorgeous views and wick access across the street to beach. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Amazing sunsets. Home was a great place for us to rest and relax between adventures. Redwoods we’re really close too.

This house was perfect for us. It's huge but homey. It's a 2 minute walk down to the beach. It's like an old pair of jeans. It's broke in and comfortable. We we're planning our next trip the first night. The host Lori was accommodating and just good people. It's not the Hyatt Regency but it wouldn't have been as fun if it was.

I thought long and hard about not commenting at all. After looking at review rating I made the reservation. I should have looked deeper. The same deficiencies we experienced have been complained about for over 2 years. The owner has excuses, but it appears nothing gets cleaned, replaced, or fixed.
Our observations.
Bedding stained and holes in the blankets in both bedrooms.
Pet stains on the rug in the master bedroom.
Trash around the carport.
Laundry room dirty and smelly
Bathroom floor dirty
Some couches in living room dated and stained
Only 2 teaspoons total in both silverware drawers but lots of tablespoons.
The house is in a beautiful location and has a great view of the ocean.
We found the street between the house and the beach not busy or noisy.
The basic house is sound.
Frankly I am surprised VRBO doesn't have a certification or inspection process, especially for places with a history of past problems. This place would not pass. I have used VRBO several times and never had an issue. After looking through complaints about VRBO and how nonresponsive they are. Time to vote with my billfold. There are lots of rental companies wanting my business.

The beds were very comfortable, and the house was clean. We got in late and left early in the morning, but we walked across the street to the beach in the morning and I must say, it was a magical place.

Love how close the house is to the beach but would not stay there again. First night there we realized there was no additional blankets for my kids, I let the owner know and after texting back and forth seem like if we need additional blankets I would have to wash some. Laundry room was gross and smelly, cleaning lady left wet laundry in the washer. Sheets, towels, blankets was on the floor in the garage. I had to spend the first night doing laundry so my kids can have blankets. Since we have some older kids they have to sleep on the couch and mattress, which is fine but the couch, mattress and pillows was old, dirty and just gross. The last day we were there we run out of toilet paper, we were there for 4 days so 2 rolls is not enough. Text the owner again and sure enough if we need toilet paper we would need to buy some. Wouldn’t recommend this property, every rooms needs additional cleaning. Mattress is old and uncomfortable, couches is rip and dirty, bedding and bath towel is poor quality.

Just across the street from the beach. The host was so accommodating and let us check out a little late. I wish we spent more days here

The views were absolutely gorgeous! The rest of the house was ok. The floors weren't vacuumed and the laundry area smelled really bad and was dirty.

My family and I VERY much enjoyed our stay here and if our travels bring us to Crescent City again we will look to this property first. So, why the 3 stars? The owners seem to be in the midst of some pretty nice upgrades, but they aren't quite done yet. Our beds were comfortable and we all slept well. The other furniture is a bit outdated and the fold away bed advertised in the listing is broken. That was okay because there was a closet full of other options. Our first day there it was pouring rain outside and we decided to watch some DVD's we had brought only to find the DVD player broken. We contacted the owner and they brought us another one quickly. We also loved the view from the front windows. We had quick access to the beach and enjoyed having such close access. We also accidently left my wife's necklace in the house and the owners found it and are sending it back to us. All of this would have earned 4 stars, however, the day we arrived, I went into the kitchen and found a real mess. I'm confident in saying that the person responsible for cleaning the house after check-out never even went into the kitchen. There were dirty dishes, sticky grease on the cabinets, and I found a loaf of bread in a cupboard that had molded and become hard, telling me it had been there for weeks, if not months. This was gross. I understand many renters don't use kitchens and do a lot of eating out, but we came prepared to cook and had to do a lot of cleaning to do so. This was our only major complaint, everything else I attribute to this property being a work in progress and I look forward to seeing the finished product. I hope you choose this property and enjoy your stay.

We enjoyed our stay, we stayed in the apartment above garage. This served as a good base for our adventures. The host worked very well with us as the website had a slight malfunction. In the end it was just what I wanted. I don't like the motel thing because of noisy neighbors. Here I could actually hear the waves at night.

On the plus side, the owner/manager was very communicative and check-in was prompt and efficient. Only paid $100 (before fees) for one night but probably should have anticipated a “get what you pay for” unit.
The disappointment started at the door…
The entrance to studio was via a door to a laundry room and garage. As the first impression to the property, it was gross.
The laundry room was not clean-looking and the garage looked like something from an episode of “Hoarders”.
Stairway from there to studio apartment was also gross - carpet was disgusting, walls were dirty, and doorknobs didn’t latch/close properly.
Apartment itself was passably clean but appliances and dishes were so well-used as to not look clean.
Tried to use toaster oven and microwave at the same time and the power went out. Had to then search thru the gross garage to find the breaker/fuse box.
We arrived late and left early and were not unhappy to do so.
This place needs some work to get to average ratings.

This studio property has three things going for it: Location. Price. Friendly, responsive owner.
Spectacular view of the coast! Nice-sized, simple studio. Think of your first apartment, furnished with Mom's castoffs, thrift store finds, and simple, inexpensive desks and shelves from a big box store. No stove in the kitchenette, just a single-burner hotplate and tiny microwave. Bathroom is adequate, although the light switch does not have a switch plate covering the wiring. Linens and towels are bare minimum. To get to the apartment above the garage, you pass through a crowded, dirty laundry room that smells like something rotting, but the apartment itself is clean and bright.

The owner seem to be continuing to improve the property over time. We enjoyed our stay!

I was very happy with the ease of communication with the owner. The house needs some upgrades but even more than that it needs a major deep cleaning job.

Starting with the weeds in the yard to the broken down red SUV in the backyard. The sewer smell in the laundry room. The bedding I don’t believe was washed it still had hair in the sheets. We had to wash all the bedding and towels just to use them. No way to cook anything because it is not a fully stocked kitchen no pots or pans. The dishwasher was broken, the sinks in the bathroom don’t drain properly, the toilet seat broken and pinched my behind. To the meth heads staying in the upstairs studio our last night. We woke up to the guy coughing so hard and loud it sounded like he was hacking up a lung. The only good thing about this location is the view. Our other family members rented another place right down the street and there places we’re really nice. I was as a very disappointed in this place

This property has Location going for it, but it ends there. It needs updated desperately and a good cleaning. It is not set up as a rental more like someones home. It was an interesting step back in time. I wish I could be more positive the owner was good to work with but they honestly need to do some updating before they contine to use this as a vacation rental.

The house is old but has great potential. The managers were very nice and polite. The view of the ocean is great but the house sits on a busy street but beach access is just across the road. The reviews from this year were not even close to what we expected. Not only was the house cluttered with to much furniture (2 thread bare couches and a table to close to the deck door made it hard to get thru) but the floors were filthy. My son laid down on the floor and when he got up a white layer of dirt covered him and our socks turns brown from the dirt as well. The kitchen pans are old and the cupboards were sticky from grime. The oven drawer had food and dirt in it. The bathrooms were clean so it was easy to use them. The bed we slept in had sheets with holes and the pillows were in shams not cases and the mattress did not have a cover or pad on it! When I asked my husband to check under the bed before we left he took a picture and showed me there was actual garbage and even more dirt under both the bed and the hide a bed in our room. Box springs and mattresses were also shoved in a closet so the door wouldn’t close at the end of our bed. If we had had all the facts we would not have stayed there.
