Very quaint, cozy style cottage. Worked great for just 2 of us. Loved the fireplace and location to all surrounding activities! Also Thelma’s diner is a must!

The heater was not consistent and potentially inaccurate. It was so hot in the living room while set at a mild 73 and when turning down a few degrees, the place went very cold pretty fast. The tv remote didn’t turn the tv on and the on button on the tv itself was dug into the frame of the tv so was not easily found or clearly labeled so we went hours without it and my son was upset. The WORST part was when we pulled a dish out of the cabinet and almost drank water from it until we noticed lip stains on the rim. During COVID, this is unacceptable, my wife was upset and we could not stay there feeling as uncomfortable as we did.

It was a quiet, nice, and cozy cabin. We are planning on coming back next year.

This is a good property, charming inside, with wooden cathedral ceilings and a huge stone fireplace. Second-floor living quarters with big picture window and large balcony was perfect for watching a huge snowstorm. Was surprised for the price that there was no cable TV. Also, was not aware there was no oven. The bed in the bedroom is not very comfortable. Should also make clear that guests need to bring their own toilet paper.

Really enjoyed staying at this cabin. Super close to big bear ski resort and great shops and restaurants. My favorite part of the cabin was the fireplace. My suggestion is to get a duraflam for the fireplace. It is cheaper than wood and super easy to light..they last for a few hours too! I would stay here again for sure.

Definitely recommend this cabin for a couple! I went with my boyfriend, and it is the most adorable cabin ever! Plus the owner was really nice!

First of off let me say about what I did like! The neighborhood and setting IS VERY NICE! John who is the owner was in communication with me (although I never got meet him in person) from the moment I arrived till I checked out! I couldn’t get the lock box opened for the key so he sent someone from Maintanence to help me get it! Many things within walking distance! Good size for a small group (4 max) now to my dislikes! 1. Advertisement here says “$59 dollars per night” clearly not the case! Final price gets sent after you book it and add your card number! 2. Everything (except the tv) NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED AND UPDATED! From the furniture, blinds, carpets, bathroom, interior paint! I mean even the decorations are outdated! Not to mention the creepy looking picture over the chimney! 3. The heating system and chimney! Only the living room will be warm while the bedroom is freezing! Not very pleasant at all! The chimney looks like it hasn’t been serviced in a very long time! 4. I’m not sure who does (or if anyone) does the housekeeping here! Dust is everywhere and I mean everywhere!!! Cobwebs and dust as well! What I found pretty funny is the notice that said one “Must remove your shoes on carpet area or you will be charged a cleaning fee” I’m sorry, but that entire carpet needs to be replaced! Given the fact that this place is in a very nice area, I did expect more! It’s like a must if you wanna keep up with the competition around and man there’s A LOT! Upgrade and modernize!

I loved staying here in mid 2018. There is a nice garage for one car, a large living room, a kitchen, and comfortable bedroom. The place is on a quiet street and a short drive to ski slopes, the golf course, and town. Just make sure to remember your own towels and sheets. I’ll definitely stay here again in summer and winter.

This cabin was cozy but not fancy which is what I expected. I liked that it was off the beaten path. The tree top view from the living room/balcony was nice. We enjoyed the proximity of the Pebble Trail and Sawmill Trail. Instant hot water, WiFi, fireplace and living room heater were a plus. The kitchen had what we needed—pots/pans, microwave, coffeemaker, large toaster over, utensils etc. We did eat at Thelma’s a couple times and it was tasty! We would stay here again.

Nice , cozy 1 bed cabin with garage below. Bring sheets, pillow cases, and towels. Sleeper sofa is typical, not very comfy,. I slept on couch.

Stayed for 5 nights, exactly what I expected. Small and cozy cabin for the three of us. Cabin was basic with the bare minimum. For less maintenance people this cabin is perfect. Cabin was clean, no major issue there. Had a little trouble getting the WiFi working but emailed owner and received code. Shops and activities are driving distances, but was not a problem for us. Thelma’s diner was excellent by far our favorite spot to eat and walking distance from cabin. No complaints, enjoyed our stay very much:)

Our family had a great time in Big Bear. The cabin is perfectly located just 1 mile from Snow and Play and 3 miles from The Village. It had a fully loaded kitchen and all the amenities we needed for our small family. Would definitely come again.

Cozy and close to everything!
Cozy place and had everything we needed for our short stay. Just the two of us so it was the perfect amount of space. It was quite cold so we were grateful for the heat and nice hot shower! Bed was comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked, although we did not need to make meals while we were there. Coffee pot was provided which is all we needed! The owner, John, was very accommodating and the price was perfect for us. Overall our stay was great, and everything we needed it to be!

Comfortable with Great Price
We stayed for 3 nights in this quiet cabin close to restaurants and shopping. It was warm (after we figured out how to use the heater :), and owner was very responsive to help us) and comfortable. The older bed was comfortable as well, a bonus for my hubby....some of the newer pillowtops are not comfy for us. Water heater is almost instantaneous. Wood burning fireplace was great! Lots of wood available to purchase close by. Great long weekend! Remember to bring bedding and towels (for kitchen too). Would definitely stay there again.

cute and cozy!
It was difficult to find in the dark. The cabin is behind another. It was clean and well kept. The kitchen had all the necessities ( coffee pot! ). We didn't mind at all cleaning up after ourselves. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location for Big Bear for couples
For me it was a perfect getaway for couples and maybe 1 small child or 2. It is what I had expected though confusing when the amenities states cable/satellite was a part of the deal, but I did read a review on here from June 2017 that there is no TV. Luckily I am not a TV person, but my boyfriend is, but both of us are not picky as long as it has a DVD player and internet. With the internet, we can stream so much in our laptops. So thank you for the awesome fast internet :) I love the cooking utensils, pots and pans were the best I had used and I have been using homeaway places in Big Bear and so far this one has sturdy ones that are usable & non stick. So if you like to cook, then bring it on. Must supply your own spices as John recommended. Also, when you open up the door to the cabin, there are stairs up before seeing the living area. To me, I like this set up for security reasons. It was very comfortable and sipping coffee out from the deck and view the lovely green trees. Definitely must come back and rent this place again in the future :)

Cozy and simple
We were in SoCal for a big family birthday and decided to stay in Big Bear. We chose this cabin mostly due to the price. It is quite small, but plenty big for the two of us. It was not an inconvenience to supply our own linens as we were driving. John was very attentive to any concerns we voiced--even calling from Norway! If we stay in Big Bear again we might opt for something a bit closer to 'downtown' as there is not much within walking distance. That said, it was quiet!
4.4
Charming
I enjoyed my trip immensely. The owner was very responsive to my emails/messages and everything was laid out nicely at the house. I would definitely come again.

Very cozy cabin and good location.
Had a good time with my family the cabin was perfect for what we needed. We would recommend this cabin for couples or small family like us. Good weekend getaway cabin!!

Lovely Quiet Winter Getaway
My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights and it was a perfect size for the two of us. It's a little ways from the busy downtown area of Big Bear, so it was really quiet and offered perfect views of the night sky from the balcony. The kitchen is beautiful and having access to a one car garage really helps in the case of snow. (And the wifi is really fast, which is always a necessity nowadays.) Plus, it's within walking distance of a market and Thelmas, which was the perfect breakfast spot! (Try the piping hot freshly made cinnamon roll - it's to die for!)
The only reasons we went with 4 stars instead of 5 were relatively minor (and certainly not dealbreakers.): 1) The hot water is a little hard to control in the shower. I found I had to keep adjusting it because it would alternate between warm and really hot without notice. 2) It did get a little cold in the bedroom while we were there. We had plenty of blankets, but didn't notice any additional way to get heat into the room. 3) It'd be nice to have a blu-ray player instead of just a DVD player, though again, we knew that when we rented it.
Overall, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Quiet, romantic get-away
My wife and I came up to celebrate our anniversary and were extremely pleased. Excellent spot!

Peaceful. Hope to be back someday
Peaceful place. I would definitely come back here if I come up to Big Bear again.

Not very clean
I would have given it 2 stars, but because of the price, I gave it 3. The owner provides a sheet of instructions for you to do before you leave, which includes cleaning the kitchen, living room and bathroom. However, he instructs us to use Lysol and the rag provided to "wipe" the areas. No wonder the tub was disgusting. I avoided showering (luckily I was only there 1 night and we cut our trip short because of it). If the owner does not invest in a cleaning service to actually CLEAN his home, then he is relying on people who are most likely not going to give it the deep-cleaning it requires. Secondly, the email with instructions we received (and the instructions on the VRBO listing) were completely different from what he provided inside the house. The wifi was incorrect as was the password. I had to call him to request it and he seemed bothered that I didnt locate it myself by the TV. Lastly, the home states it sleeps 4 (2 in the bedroom and 2 in the sofa bed); however, the 2 on the sofa bed will not get a good night sleep. That mattress is very old and you can feel the wires on your back. If you are looking for a cheap place for one night and dont intend to shower, then this will be a good option.

Nice, cozy cabin! Perfect for two.
Great getaway! Quiet area, near shops and restaurants. The cabin is in good condition. Wish it had an oven and cable tv, but great stay for an awesome price!
