Franklin Battlefield Inn is a beautiful historic Folk Victorian home built c. 1902, but with all the modern luxuries for the 21st century traveler… including three bedrooms, two bathrooms with limitless hot water provided by a tank-less hot water heater, a fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops, tile back splash, a gas stove, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and ice maker, washer and dryer, a vent-less gas log fireplace, four flat screen TVs with Direct TV, DVR (over 700 channels!), a blue-ray DVD player, and more.
Franklin Battlefield Inn (aka “the F.B.I.”) is centrally located in Historic Downtown Franklin! If you are here to visit the Number One Small Town in TN ( according to Southern Living), you will want to stay here at the FBI! Walk to Franklin’s thriving Main Street, dining, groceries, shopping, parks, museums and more. And if you are here to visit Nashville, Franklin Battlefield Inn is only a hop, skip and a jump from Music City USA (just a 25 minute drive).
Our county historian named this family home “Franklin Battlefield Inn,” because the house is located on ground zero of the Battle of Franklin. It is argued that the Battle of Franklin was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War, and this house sits at the very center of where the battle was fought! The Carter House and Museum are just two blocks north.
After the Civil War, Samuel P. Redford bought land from the Carter family and built several houses using wood from his lumber mill. Between 1899 and 1902, Sam Redford built this home using the finest red oak from his mill. Since then, five generations of Redfords have lived here (and a couple died here, but shhh don’t tell the kids there are ghosts). We have heard stories of how our ancestors used to board guests in this home. We hope to bring back this tradition of hospitality by welcoming you to stay at the FBI.
With a gorgeous fenced in back yard, spacious deck and crab orchard stone island with fire pit, Franklin Battlefield Inn is a great place for events such as parties, teas, cookouts, reunions or weddings. For an additional fee, you may have your party at the FBI. (Please note that events must be approved and scheduled in advance.)

The best of Christmas celebrations
Four days of total enjoyment! The home has a feeling of history and warmth. Easy to walk to Franklin center and enjoy the community. The fenced backyard is perfect for animals and the use of the fire pit was used for a family Christmas Eve. We are from the west coast and will stay here on a return trip.

Great house!
The FBI was a beautiful house. It was very fresh & clean. Plenty of sleeping space & the beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were updated & very nice. A great neighborhood. Walking to Main Street was a little challenge for my mom & her friend but we managed. I would highly recommend it.

Weekend Getaway
We recently stayed at the FBI with some friends for a weekend getaway and had a wonderful time. The home was absolutely darling and incredibly clean. We loved sitting out by the fire pit and being able to work to brunch/dinner. Mary Ellen was a wonderful host and very responsive to any messages I sent.

Dream Come True
Staying a the Franklin Battlefield Inn could not have been more perfect. The historic house with the turn of the century furnishings was like stepping into a different time EXCEPT the modern kitchen. The location was ideal to historic Franklin Sites. It was the best and Mary Ellen (host) was wonderful.

Girlfriends Getaway
After driving 400 miles ( with 350 seemingly under construction) we arrived to an oasis of cool gentility. The house is furnished in gorgeous, functional antiques with splurges of upscale convenience (marble countertops, glassed walk-in shower, fabulous bedding, hotel-style robes, bedside candies). The ambiance extends to the outdoors with a fire pit, swing, party lights, and patio seating. Great shopping is a very short drive or easy walk away. Our hostess was easy to reach and quick to reply. If I ever have an opportunity to visit the Franklin/Nashville area again, the FBI is the only place I will consider staying.

Property exceeded all of our expectations. Excellent location close to battlefield sites and Franklin restaurants and shops.
House was spotless and well stocked. Beds were very comfy and our dogs loved the fenced in back yard. FBI in Franklin will become one of our regular destinations going forward.

Unique Historic Property
My husband and I are frequent VRBO customers in that we enjoy the “at home while away” experience. Must say this lovely and unique property far exceeded our expectations and made for a wonderful visit with our children and first grandson. Mary Ellen is extremely attentive to your needs to assure a most comfortable and welcoming experience. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our daughter-in-law especially loved the most comfortable bedding and the very thoughtful chocolates left at her bedside by Mary Ellen. So much history with a perfect library for all! We read some of her children’s books to our grandson. All in all, one of our favorite VRBO properties!

Better than the listing!
This is the best rental I’ve ever stayed in. The online photos look good, but the whole property is really fantastic. Extra tall ceilings. Beautiful furnishings, super comfy beds and bedding—like being at a really nice hotel. There are no yard sale appointments in this house! For sure no one is recycling grandma’s old stuff for the rental house. There’s an in-line hot water heater, which is amazing when everyone needs to take a shower at the same time. The deck is great, the back yard is unreal, there’s a cute side yard as well.
I was the last member of my party to arrive. Each time someone got there, they texted me “wow, this is a REALLY nice house!” Which were my exact thoughts when I arrived. We are really excited to return later this year.

Lovely Historic Home with great backyard
We enjoyed our stay at the FBI - the house was comfortable and clean. The beds were very comfortable - which is hard to find in some of these Vrbos. So we all slept great. The location was great - close to downtown. We brought our dog along, and we all enjoyed the fenced in side yard. I would highly recommend!

A perfectly refreshing stay
Everything was exactly as described with the check-in process. This is a lovely home and it was clear that the owner had gone to a lot of effort to think of every detail. It was a quiet and relaxing time for us to catch-up. If you are considering staying at this property, you will not be disappointed. Hello, this was the most enchanting VRBO! The location is excellent to downtown Franklin. Our puppy, Abigail, loved the large fenced in yard. The twinkle lights draping the fire pit area at night created such a relaxing ambiance. We will visit Franklin just to stay at FBI again! Next time, longer!

Great home and great location!
Our family had an excellent stay in the Franklin Battlefield Inn. The home is so well kept and well appointed with anything and everything you might need. The large fenced yard was perfect. The location is great and we all were able to spend some time in the downtown area of Franklin which was really nice. Nashville is so close too!

We had a wonderful time, I was a bit nervous it was the first time Gonda and I had been away from our Daughters and Grandkids at Christmas. We celebrated Christmas a few days early and headed out, turned out to been a great trip for just the two of us......

Intimate, charming wedding venue
The Franklin Battlefield Inn was the perfect venue for a small wedding! This VRBO is a true gem nestled in a quiet setting near downtown Franklin. The large, fenced yard with mature trees and shrubs provided a fairy tale setting for the bride and groom. The garage, the terrace and the use of the kitchen and bathrooms were exceptional pluses for this property. Also, the bride and groom enjoyed the use of the house for their first night as a married couple. The owner was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. She was an excellent source for recommendations for rentals and services from local businesses.

The FBI is an Epic Abode
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The home was properly appointed for the era of the house and perfectly updated where needed. We did not get to use the fire pit but, the patio and furniture were very comfortable to relax. The owner was very nice and gracious and willing to answer any questions. The home is well kept and very clean. We will definitely stay here again. Be sure to tour the battlefield if you get a chance. We did and loved all the history.
