About this house rental
Welcome to The Fig House! We hope you love this house as much as we do. The way we live and travel with friends is the inspiration for the interior and exterior design of this house.
The Fig House is a newly renovated mid-century modern located in the Kelvin Grove neighborhood next to Bloody Marsh. Clean lines, open living floor plan and carefully designed outdoor living spaces make this house a one of a kind for the area.
Living Room/Dining Room:
The living room is designed to entertain a group of adults or perfect for kids. With two sofas, two club chairs, a window bench seat and a wood burning fireplace, it is the perfect place to entertain, watch a movie, or cozy up and read a book. The dining area connects the living and kitchen and seats 8. A large window faces one of the most amazing live oaks on the island. Plenty of natural light fills this space.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is spacious with clean lines and is connected to the sunroom and the sitting room. A small breakfast table is located in the kitchen - perfect for lunch or a kids table. You have a view of the pool which is great when you are cooking dinner and friends or kids are in the pool courtyard or the sunroom.
Sitting Room:
The sitting room is connected to the kitchen and has a daybed and two club chairs. An arm chair sits in the corner next to a bar cart and has a tv that can be viewed from the sitting and kitchen area.
Sun Room:
The sun room sits off the kitchen and is the only access to the pool courtyard. This room as a combination dining table/pool table/ ping pong table and has a tv. This space is an extension of the courtyard and has a curated plant collection.
Master Bedrooms (2):
Most of the time we travel with friends and have the kids in tow. We decided to make two masters so everyone feels comfortable! Each room has a king bed, chair, black out curtains and a closet. One master faces the pool courtyard and the other a red cedar hedge.
Bunk Room:
Perfect for kids or a big group, this room has two bunk beds and looks out over the pool courtyard.
Bathrooms (2.5):
Powder room of living. Private bathroom off of master with tub/shower combination. Bathroom off of the hallway that can be shared by the second master and the bunk room. This bathroom has a tub/shower combo.
Front Yard:
The front has one of the most amazing live oaks on the island. There is a very special limb that arches over the drive and touches the ground. Please be mindful when you arrive and know that oversized vehicles or suv’s with racks or boxes will need to use the Cater street entrance. The limb is lit so you can see it at night. A kids swing hangs from another cool limb on the tree.
Pool Courtyard:
This is a private space that is lined in bamboo and huge tree ligustrums. The pool has a 12” raised beam so you have to step up and down before you enter the pool. Three sides of the pool have 2’x2’ cast stone pavers set in a limerock and granite loose pebble mixture. We have 4 chaise lounges facing the pool and a farm table for dining. There is a great live oak in the courtyard that is lit at night. The pool can be heated. This is a great space for entertaining or making family memories.
Tv’s:
We have a large tv over the fireplace and one in the sitting area that can be viewed from the kitchen. We also have one out in the sunroom. We do not have tv’s in the bedroom.
Kids:
We have young children and so do most of our friends so we know what traveling is like with young ones. We have a kids closet that is full of all of the day to day items one would need for little ones. We have toys, books, high chair, plastic plates, sippy cups, and a small kids table that can be pulled out for your stay. A pack n play is available upon request. We have two swings that are great for kids. One is located in the front yard and one out back. While the house is very kid friendly, if you don't have kids, don't let that turn you off! The decor is very neutral - even the bunk room!

Kelvin Grove is located off Old Demere next to Bloody Marsh. The neighborhood has only one entrance so there is no through traffic. It is an active neighborhood with kids and homeowners out walking dogs and visiting. It is also a family neighborhood so please treat the house and the neighborhood like you would your own.

The Fig House was a great combination of location on SSI and a really cool mid-century modern property. Everything was clean and just as advertised. Our one complaint would be that the WI-FI was spotty during our stay, but Bryce (the host) was very helpful and responsive in assisting.

We booked our trip not knowing much about St. Simon’s or the area. We really enjoyed exploring and enjoyed also just staying at the house! The kids loved the pool and ping-pong table. The Fig House certainly did not disappoint. This home exceeded our expectations. I could tell by the online photos that the owner enjoys creating a space that is comfortable with an artistic/eclectic style. The interior design is on point! The Fig House comes with an abundant supply of necessities for accommodating families. The owner is quick to respond to questions and super friendly. The Fig House has become my all time favorite. The Fig House was such a great escape and gave us an excellent base for our first-time visit to St. Simons. That pool is something else!! Stay was very clean and organized. Owners were up front with any quirks of the house and were clear about expectations upon leaving. Both inside and outside were perfect for a relaxing weekend away to catch up with friends! Back yard had shady and sunny spots so it was great to come back from the beach and have the option of shade while enjoying the outdoors!

Relaxing Stay Under the Oaks
Floating in the pool, looking up at the most stunning oak tree dripping with Spanish moss - truly, I have never had a more incredible pool experience. With the perfectly landscaped backyard, we truly felt at peace. Our group had a great stay at the fig house!!!. Two babies under one, a 4 year old, 6 year old, and 4 adults - we each enjoyed what the house and location had to offer us! Bryce was a great host - we loved her interior design and she was incredibly responsive to us when we had questions. The only negative of our experience were the ants that didn’t allow much lounging on the pool chairs or on the pool deck - but again, we mostly just stayed in the pool so they didn’t bother us there. No issues with bugs anywhere else though, so honestly - I cannot even complain. I was so so thankful for this house, and the experience it afforded our two families. THANK YOU!!!!! Our family faves: the lounge area/den off the kitchen (that day bed!!!), climbing the oak tree in the front yard, swimming/lounging/floating in the pool, the 5 min drive to East Beach or Gould’s Inlet, Sal’s Pizzeria, Sandy Bottom Bagels, and of course - the 4th of July fireworks!!! We already are hoping to return next year!!! Thank you Fig House!!!! xoxo

Dirty and lots of deferred maintenance
Don’t go by the photos. Stained beat up furniture, dirty area rugs, dresser with drawer., etc. lounge chairs with mold and bugs The floors look just like a garage floor. I wish you could see my photos.

Thanksgiving Fun
My daughter and her family and my son and his family stayed here and we had an enjoyable experience swimming in the heated pool, playing ping pong and other games and comforting each other after the death of my mother in early November. It’s a great place for family get togethers.

Great, quite location but right around the corner from the beach(not even needed with the tranquil backyard) and all the restaurants that St Simon has to offer. Perfect house for families!
Perfect house for families! Great kitchen with every utensil you will need to cook with. We loved the heated pool, outdoor swing for the kids, all the toys, ping pong and pool table, outdoor eating area, heaters in the bathrooms, and all the appliances. Living room was a perfect place to cozy up with the family at night and watch movies. Short drive to the beach. Outdoor backyard area was stunning with beautiful trees with hanging moss and plants. It was shady and a great place to take an afternoon nap. Located in a cute neighborhood where we took daily walks as a family. We’ll definitely be back!

The Fig House was amazing! I can’t even say how much we enjoyed staying there for my daughters wedding on ST. Simon Island. The wedding party came back to the house afterwards and had cake and swam in the heated pool.
The house is gorgeous! The photographer was at the house all day and we will have some beautiful pictures because there is so many beautiful rooms, plants,trees and decor. It’s absolutely perfect for any event. The huge kitchen, game room, comfy beds, large bathrooms, Heated pool. So many photo opportunities.
The owner went out of his way to come over and check the lights in back for me. He texted back immediately with all my questions.

Perfect
This home was perfect for us. My husband, 3 children, and I stayed here for the Florida vs Georgia game in Jacksonville. It was only an hour drive to the city which was nice!
We also had a few extra days to enjoy St. Simons. The house was only a few minutes to the village which had some cute shops, restaurants and of course the pier for Walking, fishing or just relaxing and enjoying the view.
Even though this home was in a
Neighborhood it felt very private.
Also, for being an older home the renovations and decor were beautiful and the home was very clean. My children loved the bunk room bc they could all sleep together and the had a blast playing ping pong. But the pool was by far the highlight of the trip for our children. It was beautiful and clean and the owners had it heated for us upon arrival. My kids all jumped in it within seconds of arriving. The temp was perfect and enjoyable, considering the weather was a bit cooler during our stay.
We Also loved the big trees covered In moss they were so pretty and added to the beauty of the area! The owners were very kind and flexible and easy to work with. My kids have already asked to go back, and we plan to do so!!!

We enjoyed our little Labor Day getaway very much. The house is beautiful, along with the landscape. The layout of the house is perfect for large families. The decor is so mid century modern yet so comfortable and accommodating. The chefs kitchen made it to where we did all of our own cooking and never had to go out to the busy restaurants. A Breath of Fresh Air
The Fig House is a special place that manages to capture that feeling of a home that you've been coming to for years even if you have arrived for the first time. The thoughtful details, stylish decor and intentional simplicity make it possible to relax and unplug as soon as you walk through the door. My young children and I stayed for 3 nights. I relaxed while the kids played with the wonderful selection of toys, explored in the fenced in yard, swam, and tried ping pong. Thanks to a well stocked yet not overloaded kitchen, we were able to host some local family and friends for a small dinner party. This home is the perfect place to unplug and enjoy Saint Simons Island. We will be back soon!

We stayed the Fig House for a short girls weekend. It was lovely. The house itself is decorated so cute and the private pool in the back is so peaceful. Great location, too -- close to the beach (def rent a golf cart) and close to restaurants. Would def stay here again.
