About this house rental

SORRY BUT NO DOGS.

3 bed Bungalow very close to the beaches at Cape Paterson, only 140km from Melbourne CBD.
Three bedrooms sleeps 8. Two queen beds and two double bunks. Ideal for large families and/or two families. Great party house. We have been letting the house since 2005, with many regular customers who love the house as much as we do.

One street back from Cape's main beaches. Easy walks to First Surf (10 mins) and the family friendly Bay Beach (5 mins). Both have lifesaving clubs and are patrolled on weekends late November to Easter. Then there's Second Surf another 10-15 mins walk west. Great for surfers and body boarders with beautiful quiet and secluded sunsets.

Less than 2 mins stroll to cafe, milk bar and Cape Tavern, which was under new ownership in 2013 with much improved food and range of beverages.

Cape has that relaxed, no rush feel, even in the busy times. The hidden gem of Gippsland.

Lots to do.....or not.....

Swimming - patrolled beaches over summer. Cape is a bit cooler than Melbourne being on the coast so the summer temperatures tend to be just right.

Surfing - good spots at Cape on west and east winds.

Fishing - great surf/beach fishing as well as boat ramp.

Snorkelling and diving - great off the local beaches and Bunurong Marine Park.

Cycling - the Bunnurong Coastal Road is one of the most spectacular rides in Gippsland. The Bass Coast Rail Trail runs from Wonthaggi to Anderson roundabout via Kilcunda. Take the dedicated bike lane from Cape to Wonthaggi 8 km then 17 km on the rail trail over the trestle bridge to Killy and the great Cafe and Pub. Other rail trails close by in Gippsland. The South Gippsland ride is splendid.

Bushwalking - great tracks all year around. Cape foreshore bush tracks out the front door. Walk or run. Beach walk to Harmers Haven and the Wonthaggi heathlands.

Read - library of books, plenty of good stuff to read, to suit all tastes

Peace - sleep, chill out, Cape is a great place to get off the rat race merry go round. Some our regulars go down to Cape for quiet work time, clear of the madness and distractions of the big city.

Wildlife - in 2012 an echinda was spotted in the garden, the wattles nested in the back yard, on top of heaps of other birdlife including black cockatoos. We have seen blue tongue lizards in the back yard. There are wild roos and wallabies on the Bunurong road, just before Kildunda and at Venus Bay. Womabats are less common, but we do see them occasionally. We once saw humpback whales off Twin Reef.

Stuart's house has an awesome homely feel , very clean , weather was cool enough to relax with a wine around the combustion fire . Quiet little town . The house is a short walk to an awesome beach , would love to go back when the weather is a bit warmer to swim in the rock pool .

I've got to thank all in involved in our stay in this beautiful, Characteristic place. Perfect spot for us, with a 5 minute walk to beach (which I have to tell you was awesome, plenty of fun had there), a 5 minute walk to the Pub (great meals , reasonable prices) A trip to Wonthaggi is only 15 minutes away. The house has old charm and was a surprise to us to find a Modern cozy Kitchen, massive lounge room with a solid fuel heater,(plenty of wood outside) and great outside area lit with fantastic blue lights. Bedrooms where spacious and beds where comfortable. The house was clean, bed linen (which we did not use) was put out and the feel of the home was awesome!!! This is one place we will be returning to. Our Host (Stuart) sent a detailed information kit, on directions and where to find the keys, we were impressed. We had a great weekend, even the weather turned up for us. Again thank you to all involved.

Great location, great little property, perfect for a family break

This great little holiday getaway is a perfectly situated, perfectly sized and appointed family home. The front half of the house has three great sized bedrooms, TV lounge and bathroom. The rear of the house is a modern light filled living space (slash Mum's haven!) with kitchen, dining and warm cosy couch area (and a bonus bathroom straight in from the back door so you don't need to traipse sand through the house). We simply loved our stay away from home, the kids enjoyed strolling to the surf and the safety and calm of the location is just a godsend (take bikes, scooters and body boards). The adults beds are very, very firm - if you are a backache sufferer you may need to bring an extra doona to go under you. But don't let this put you off. It's a fabulous space for families with young or bigger kids with everything you need for some R & R. Stuart is a great host, great communication prior to arrival. Highly recommend.

We love Fitzgerald!

We have stayed at Fitzgerald several times over the past few years and we love it's traditional beach house feel. An older style house, it is comfortable, warm, and caters well to the needs of a family. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking up a feast and the sun streaming in the windows of the family room makes it a great place to settle in with a good book. Backyard is flat lawn, perfect for younger children to play. Short walk to beach, general store and the pub. Great place for a weekend escape!

Loved the painting! We especially liked the personal touch of the library and would have liked to have stayed longer to listen to more of the CD collection. It's also good value for money and it's close to the beach.
