We loved the set up. it was easy for Ubers to get to us. were were close to almost everything we wanted to see.
the Hot Tub was a highlight . the amenities were more than sufficient - we only had breakfast in the apartment so we didn't use much of the stuff but for those who are going full on self catering the stuff in the apartment is perfect for all meals. the hosts were accomodating since we did an early checkin and also needed a slightly late checkout that we had really no control over since work was involved so the host was acomodating to that which we really appreciated. The Zulu traditional hats were a great touch to the decor.
Hot Tub was a highlight but it cannot fit 8people comfortably lol so if your max is 8 in the apartment a bigger one should be considered some day.
Also just a suggestion is that the TV should be in the bigger sitting area. because the upstairs seating is limited so Tv time is really not a full group thing- upstairs can focus on being like a mini games area perhaps without the tv.
Shower in the downstairs room would be better

I was travelling with my three children and we all got very comfortably into this accommodation.
it was a bit tricky for some Uber drivers to find but that was not a major problem.

Brilliant property with plenty of space to relax and unwind.
A good location on a lovely street with bars, coffee shops and restaurants very close. Easy to get an Uber round the rest of Cape Town with some places within walking distance.

The location was outstanding. Property includes safe, free parking (with permit), which is essential. The apartment was exceptionally clean and very well furnished. Very comfortable beds and the rooftop jacuzzi amazing. Excellent view of city and Table Mountain. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. James at check-in was exceptionally friendly and check-in quick. Overall very good service and outstanding stay. We will be back. Thank you
Nothing. Everything satisfactory.

our hosts James and Trust were fantastic- even taking in an online food shop for us before we arrived - a real credit to the property and so helpful!

1. Trust at the reception office was extremely nice and helpful. The house was perfectly fine. Probably would be better for people staying longer and who are planning to prepare some of their own meals.
2. The location is great. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance (I recommend the Vietnamese street food restaurant and Cape Quarter "Mall" which has a couple of great restaurants!)
3. The tv/internet were easy to use and had netflix already signed in with the management company account, also DSTV.

1. De Waterkant doesn't use booking for payments so you have to fill in a 3 page form and separate payment process. It took my 7 tries (literally) and a call to my credit card company to get the payments through. This was a lot of extra work in my view...though I appreciate they are trying to ensure payments and avoid fraud issues.
2. The forms you have to sign are substantive and there is also a huge deposit. Again, I understand the reason for it (it is someone's house), but maybe they shouldn't be using booking.com which has, in my opinion, been easier to work with in the past. Another service might be more appropriate.
3. The place we booked on booking.com is not the house we received upon arrive (ours should have had a patio with a small plunge pool and did not).
4. The bedroom did not have a window I could open (and there were no bars so I wouldn't have slept with it open as it was street level) and the furniture in it is too big for the room size so it felt crowded. the other bedroom was a bit better.
5. The steps in our place were super big and steep. Wouldn't be appropriate for older folks or young children. Even in bare feet the floors were really slippery.
6. This area was not disability friendly (if you have issues with mobility) as the sidewalks are small/sometimes blocked and the road is steep and can be difficult to navigate.
In hindsight--I should have just booked a "regular" hotel for me and my friend. But for family group, this is probably an affordable option.

1. The shower - probably the best water pressure at any venue I have stayed in for the past 3 years. What a pleasure. 2 While the parking is all on the street, I never felt unsafe or that my hire car was at risk. 24 hour security guards in the area. 3. Well positioned for people wanting to travel around Cape Town, Sea Point, Waterfront etc. 4 Lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the near vicinity - and a BP petrol station with 24 hr shop 5 mins walk away. 5. Well stocked kitchen with stove fridge utensils glasses etc - easy to cook/self cater if you want to. 6. Clean linen - lots of towels albeit smallish and a bit jaded 7. While DSTV is poor w r.t channel options - good Netflix YouTube options provided.
This location is definitely not for everybody - and is an interesting combination of good and very average. 1. Internet and WiFi connectivity is not standard. 2. The floors in the unit we stayed in are old wooden polished floors for most of the unit - and you are at serious risk of slipping and falling - when walking bare foot or in socks. I did a few times. Even getting out of bed or getting up from the couch needs care. And this is not just an old person thing - my daughter of 17 had exactly the same challenge. 3. The towels are small - and a bit jaded. I needed 2 towels to dry myself after showering. 4. The patio is hemmed in on all sides - and feels like you in a prison - not a great option for sitting having a drink or bite to eat. 5 Extremely limited DSTV channels - no sport channels. 6. The check in office is not easy to find - not well marked on the outside - and checkin process needs a revamp both in terms of the checkin office experience, and the lack of automation. Just felt like part of a production line.
Would I go back there again? Probably not.
Was it a disaster? No.
Are there better places in CTN? Absolutely.
Was it reasonably priced? Not bad for CTN in January.
If you want self-catering, clean and safe - it's an option. If you want more than that, then there are better options around.

It is a gorgeous property in an excellent location and I would happily recommend it to anyone on that basis. However, the beds were rock hard. There were no coffee pods for the nespresso, not even a couple to get started! No laundry powder sample packs and the shampoo etc was minuscule. When you're paying over $200 a night you kind of expect these little things. Plus, you have to pay a security deposit which they claim will be returned in full yet mysteriously due to vagaries of exchange rates etc you don't actually get repaid in full. In my case they pocketed $10. Small potatoes sure, but if they do that for every guest it soon adds up to a tidy earner.
