Breakfast was tasty. Being a Yorkshire lad I was bemused at it all being piled on a piece of toast:)

Wonderful staff and fantastic food
Absolutely nothing

great use of space with a warm & friendly atmosphere
room was rather snug
4.1
Staff friendly and welcoming, room clean with comfortable beds
Room should have been a single, way too small. Almost impossible to get in and out of the bathroom or round the bed. Access via ridiculously steep narrow, shallow stairs which we struggled with and were very worried by. Am amazed this was deemed safe by an inspector. If you're thinking of staying here, avoid rooms 1 & 2. I don't think there are any warnings about this. There were 3 of us in our 70s and the access was totally inappropriate for all of us.
We didn't eat at the hotel, the food looked good though.

Good location, easy to find, - basically just opposite the church, with good parking.
Smaller than average rooms but it is a piece of history, an historical building adapted to work & it does so just fine. Bed was superb, a rarity in hotels it seems. Good bar & (small) lounge area, very warm & homely with a good feel. Great open fireplace, not lit but a great feature for the winter I'm sure.
All staff were extremely welcoming, courteous & friendly.
Food excellent & well above pub food standards. Dinner portion on the smaller side but very well presented, adequate & crucially not too heavy.
If (like me) you don't have dogs & are worried about the dog friendly aspect, you needn't be, it's not an issue.
The weather??!! but that's not under their control

Everything about The Dog was gorgeous. The breakfast, the people, the location was wonderful. I had a full English for breakfast because I just love black pudding and a fried slice. my husband had poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. yummy. Our room, although compact, was very tastefully designed and decorated, it had everything we needed. We had a lovely nightcap in the bar when we returned from our night out with family on boxing night, the ambiance was relaxed and friendly, the perfect end to a perfect stay.

We both liked the food which was very well cooked and presented. Dinner was excellent but so were the breakfasts which were individually cooked and looked so much more appetising than the usual buffet breakfast.
The first room we were offered was up some very steep stairs which I could not manage. The second room was much easier to access. It is obviously an old building with modern bedrooms fitted into a quirky first floor.

We liked the staff went out of thier way to ensure our rooms were ready early.
The breakfast wasn't to my taste, was a bit too fried.

room was so comfy. unfortunately we didn’t get to have a meal as we were attending a wedding but will definitely be making another stay and having some food!
was so much the property, but taxis are an issues, wasn’t prepared for.

comfortable and nice decor

It was all absolutely fine but the room was very small and we thought it was very expensive. Breakfast was good but again we would have had to pay more to have fruit and a cooked breakfast which did not seem right. If the room was £180 I would have been completely happy.
I liked everything other than the price.

beautiful restaurant garden, good location, friendly staff, clean and pleasant en-suite room and great food
slightly pricey, although that might be what one pays now for good quality.
4.1
Good outside dining space
Tiny very cramped room

my room was very small and not really suitable for me and 2 dogs

Plenty of parking. Breakfast was very good. Enjoyed our evening meal on both nights. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Room was a little 'cosy' - more space would definitely have been appreciated although en suite was very good.

Breakfast lovely. Coffee great. Staff fabulous!

the food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast the following day. The staff were also first class
Our room was very comfortable but we had an issue with the bathroom which was designed as a wet room with the floor drain central to the doorway. The problem being that when using the bathroom after a shower you were constantly walking on a wet floor as the water wasn't contained or able to fully run off. Also not keen on the noise constantly involved with the saniflow system of drainage
4.1
pub/restaurant is great - brilliant service and food is excellent
rooms are a bit of an afterthought to the restaurant I think - definitely paid less for more elsewhere
4.1
£190 p/n Very expensive for a very small room especially as when we got there they were advertising £195.00 DB&B where we ended up paying over £340 for DB&B. Food & staff were very good is about the best comment i can make
DB&B for the £195.00 offer to have been offered to us either prior or when we arrived
4.1
The breakfast was excellent served by a very friendly waitress there wasn’t anything to dislike about the whole experience the Dog hotel is on our list to take visitors when we have them
There wasn’t anything to dislike plenty of parking space and easy to find
