English breakfast was very good.
John is a very good host.
The red carpet leading to excellently decorated and furnished rooms gives a wrong and poor impression as to what awaits.
The room was not quite ready on our arrival which was considerably later than check in.
The seating near disabled toilet needs changing or dresser moving and a partition shielding the doorway as not a welcoming sight when you walk in from a great nights sleep for your breakfast.
4.5
The room, the view, the food and the hosts
The bathroom was very clean but the doors on shower very small.

Position
A bit tired, bathroom needed some attention, wobbly loo seat for example.
Furnishings in bar / restaurant also tired.
Whole place felt unloved.

Would recommend a stay here and it was right by the river.

Hoped to have evening meal but they had run out of pretty much everything, no steaks, no burgers, no fish and chips..... such a shame as had planned decent meal out.

I was attending a wedding in which i was a bridesmaid and the staff were really helpful with checking in and dropping my overnight bag with them. I was pleased to have a great sized room with comfy bed and an ensuite and a great breakfast in the morning.

lovely location beautiful room friendly staff
apart from a dodgy starter on the bathroom light and a bit of a wobbly toilet seat everything was fine

Being by the river.
Needed to make sure the facilities in the room were in working order (TV) as the TV in our room was not working!

We liked the location by the river. The host was a very friendly lady and we were made to feel welcome. Breakfast was very good but a little cold.
The room, we were in The Bull dog room, we wasn't expecting a themed room and it wasnt our cup of tea. The mattress on the bed wasn't great. The room was very hot and needed a good clean. The bathroom was in need of some work the shower door was broken and the toilet seat did not fit properly. The window in the room only opened slightly. And the noise in the car park wasn't good and kept us awake.

Squirrel room was huge and luxuriously decorated. Breakfast was incredible. Location by the river was wonderful. Loved being able to settle in with a drink downstairs, by the river. Welcoming staff and good atmosphere.

Great room, Comfortable bed lovely location
The staff provided ice packs as my wife had fallen over in Canterbury earlier in the day, a very kind and thoughtful gesture
Constant noise throughout the night from some sort of motor possibly air-conditioning I don't know.

Bathroom facilitlies, no wardrobe, decor in need of an update

Staff were very pleasant and attentive and really worked hard to look after us. Breakfast was good too
There was a slight cleaning issue but apologies were rapid and it was not serious enough to affect our enjoyment of the stay

The breakfast was very good, the room was comfortable, we stayed in 'The Gin and Tonic' that faced the river so a pretty view was had.
They omitted to advise that the restaurant was closed on Mondays, so we had to go out to another for food and therefore was late to our evening outing. The room had no bottled water supplied for our return and the outside lights failed to turn on when we returned from our evening out and I fell due to a pothole in the carpark area.
The Manager advised both the above would be addressed, but never offered any discount against our booking for the failures or missing services.
The Landlord should not be held accountable for the slightly tired look of the premises they have done everything they can and love the pub/restaurant very much - The breweries should be doing more to assist these people.

The pub/ hotel is in a beautiful location. The room was clean & comfortable.
There was a faint small of damp in the room, it didn’t put us off staying in the room. Just kept balcony doors open.
The food was just about average & luke warm (both pub lunch & breakfast)
Saying this we would return on room only basis.
