We enjoyed a very present welcome by the very friendly staff and the food was excellent value especially the Supper Club Menu which included three courses and coffee. The hotel was very clean with a very comfortable bed and the rooms were very pleasantly olde worlde. A very English breakfast was included with two large cups of coffee and orange juice. It's all fantastic a lovely place.
Having to wear face masks when walking around hotel but that's no fault of the hotel

Local in centre of town. Friendly service.
Beautiful old Tudor decore and style.
Corner of bath tub repair not finished.

Really nice stay for new years eve , really cosy pub, food was lovely , staff really nice
Room was a little chilly but we were right on the top floor
4.2
Large car park, surprising quiet at night. Large rambling building but taken to our room, which is rare these days. Great staff, very attentive all well trained by Joss, who is one of the best managers we have seen in hotels.
Good pub grub menu, the steak was cooked to my request.
Rooms a little tired but we understand that the brewery will be spending a large amount of money on refurbishment very soon.

Everything was very good
There was nothing I didn't like every thing was excellent
4.2
great location
had to wait ages for check in as they were preoccupied with serving people at the bar, who'd arrived well after us.
very snotty towards kids, both the staff and clientele eating in the restaurant so I would absolutely say this is not a family friendly place
4.2
It was pleasant enough, food, staff and general public areas were good.
Bedroom needs a bit of TLC, and the cost for drinks at the bar is pretty extortionate.

A 15th Century Coaching Inn, full of character and history in a pleasant area of Tutbury. An overnight stay as we travelled home. Relatively quiet location with large car park to the rear. Typical pub fare. Good dinner, adequate self service breakfast.
It's an ancient building that's been added to over the years so access to the bedroom involved a lot of twists and turns and steep stairs. The bedroom and ensuite were clean and comfortable but in need of refurbishment. Wifi was hit and miss.

Quirky little gem. Full of character perfectly situated for a trip to Uttoxeter races. Friendly staff Reasonably priced
Could possibly benefit from a lick of paint but nothing serious.

excellent staff, very friendly and attentive, they remembered my requirements each day when I came to dinner (I have allergies, and they remembered these each day) the Greene King app is also excellent for filtering food containing allergens. I have used this several times at different pubs and hotels and it has always served me well. there was ample parking, great food, and a magnificent building with exposed wooden beams and period features throughout. also really pleased to have a fridge in the room, and all necessary mod cons were provided.
rooms and bathroom could use a refresh, but overall this as a fabulous place to stay!
4.2
Friendly staff. We were shown to our rooms and asked if we needed help with bags.
Rooms were very big and the bathrooms were spacious too. Beds very comfy. We had Rooms 2 and 3 I loved the old books on display in Room 2.
Food in pub was lovely too, very tasty and we had very good service.
Nothing

Historic pub building
The room - lovely and spacious
Enjoyed the reasonably priced evening meal and after the generous breakfast I didn't need any lunch. Pleased to see you provided Marmite!
Shower seemed to be either scalding or freezing!
The heated towel rail did not work (room 1) - sorry I forgot to mention this before I left

We had breakfast, all ok, but trying to make a bacon sandwich on sourdough toast, when did normal bread have to be replaced by sourdough?
Room was freezing cold, heated towel rail in bathroom would not come on, despite fiddling with thermostat on radiator, tried thermostat in room, and on radiator, nothing, room freezing cold, until about 2,00am when radiator came on full blast, work up sweating, turn radiator down, opened window, also on 4th floor, no mention of this but with a dodgy knee no lift 4 flights of a bit tiresome,

Comfortable, characterful half-timbered room. Decent breakfast, helpful staff, good food in pub restaurant. Good place to stay in an interesting village (with castle, priory church etc).
Light in bathroom rather dim.

cold damp room no heating on, freezing & windows running with condensation. only x1 sachet each of coffee & no one around to ask for more.
loud noise from other room at 3am booked in for dinner, nothing much left on the menu, only had a starter.
closed restaurant at breakfast so no breakfast , had to go elsewhere at 7am

Great car park. Good breakfast £7.99 includes all the continental stuff too! Quaint rooms.
Maybe the odd scuff, exposed raw plug etc but nice on the whole!

All staff were very accommodating.
4.2
the quirky layout of the building, the staff were very welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable
the bedroom was amazing but the bathroom needs some work as the panel was split on the bath and there was mould around the corner of the panel, the window ledge was full of dust and cobwebs
4.2
Would have preferred a buffet breakfast breakfast
Breakfast brilliant 9
