Location is great for the old dockyard or Gun Wharfe Quays.
The West Wing rooms are old, dated and the carpets are filthy.

The food and provisions were really good. The rooms were big and nicely formatted, would have been better with a fridge, hairdryer and safe. The adjoining room was not expected.
The jacuzzi was out of order, the games room was too far away from the main facilities and bar.

Street parking was impossible, however the multistorey carpark opposite the hotel which was more expensive but I wish that I'd found that before trawling the local streets.

Great location. On site parking very restricted but permit for street parking is available from reception at a reasonable price.
Took advantage of the packed lunch option in lieu of breakfast and it was very good.
Was given a family room as a solo traveller so value was exceptional.
Decor needs a little tlc but clean and comfortable room.

The room was reasonable. I enjoyed my swim in the pool, but it would be crowded with more than two people. there is lots of seating and tables in the foyer. The building is quite awesome - very nautical. The breakfast was lovely and good value for money. The hotel is only five minutes walk from The Royal Dockyard (which is what I had gone for) and ten minutes walk from National Express, local buses, the train station and the ferries. Gunwharf Quay is only about 12 minutes walk where there are loads of shops, restaurants, a cinema and coffee shops. There is also a Tesco metro. The Spinakker tower is also there.
The lift broke down, but was fixed the next day, but one day of walking up and down two flights of stairs was very hard work for a pensioner like me. I was quite impressed with how quickly it was mended. Sometimes there was loud shouting/singing noise from people in the street.

Staff very polite and helpful
The room was a disappointment, wall paper coming of on the edges , cobwebs, furniture all scratched ands the room is not like as they showed in the picture

Very dated and run down, no air conditioning in the rooms which was stifling when the temp was 33 degrees, no iron in room has to use a communal
Laundry, wiring up at breakfast waiting for more hot food to be replenished

Muy cerca del oulet y embarcadero, el desayuno bueno, las dependencias suficiente, al frente hay parking y te hacen descuento por el uso en el hotel
Lo encontré un poco caro para lo que era, le falto un poco de variedad al desayuno

Location was close to the center of Portsmouth / historic dockyard. Used previously so knew what they offered. Good military connections / support.

Had booked a basic room, asked manager for an upgrade and he kindly gave us one
Basic room very basic
5.0 / 10.0
Cleanliness was fine and housekeeping was very good.
Room was basic and in need of refurbishment, leak in bathroom, old and poor standard of furniture in bathroom. Big enough to have a walk in shower and bath, but only a shower over bath. Bed mattress was saggy and uncomfortable.
Restaurant breakfast food and staff was fine. But closed in evening too early for the Monday evening meal so we ate else where.

The historical feel, homely not ultra modern. Comfortable bed , good breakfast , very nice staff & nice to have a plunge pool!
Close to amenities, quiet at night.
Door open card didn’t work very well! Decor in rooms a bit tired but nothing drastic. Our shower turn on knob was very stiff.

The staff were friendly and very helpful.
As a serving member of the RN I discovered I could have lower room rates but was not allowed to benefit as I’d booked with Booking.com

Friendly staff, decent breakfast, on-site bar. Staff gave my father a birthday card and stored a wheelchair for him- thank you.
The ONLY reason I chose this hotel is because it advertised a pool table and we were celebrating my dad's birthday and he LOVES playing pool. We thought we could play a few games each evening after exploring Portsmouth. When we asked to play pool we were advised that the hotel does not have a pool table, only snooker. Had we known this, we would have stayed at our other choice which was in a better location and slightly cheaper.

Bathroom a little dated.

The staff were welcoming and professional. The room was comfortable, functional and quiet, with free tea and coffee. The breakfast buffet (included in the room price) was excellent: good selection of cooked and continental options in a pleasant restaurant setting with attentive staff. The hotel location was excellent for visiting the Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays and waterfront. It also had nice seating areas and a bar. We managed to park in the hotel grounds, but spaces are limited and not guaranteed. Overall, a good choice for our overnight stay.
The decor was a bit tired, even for a 'budget' room. We would have liked a blind on the bathroom window - frosted glass can only conceal so much! The room was also very hot even without the heating on. The room door slammed shut even if you tried to stop it, so might have been annoying for other guests.

I found the bed a bit hard for my taste & the pillows where very small for me

Location was just round the corner from Gumwharf Quays, about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute bus ride into central portsmouth.
the room great, it was quiet, warm and the bed was comfortable. the room was well kept and clean when I arrived and the tea and coffees were replenished daily.
the food was also really nice
just the constant opening and closing of the hallway doors was just so loud, I don't know if it was guests but at random times through the night it was a little much. other than that it was really nice.
