Great setting and clean
Refurbished in 2019, I feel the soul has been taken out of the place! Plastic windows, poorly made panelling attempting to replicate the original.. when will the European’s learn that ‘new’ isn’t better ! Time and time again I’m seeing this insensitive designers and architects destroying the atmospheres of our beautiful heritage..lost forever. Idiots …

Ambiance, friendly staff, design/decor, service. This is a very luxurious hotel with great amenities in a super location in Le Touquet. The hotel is very historical but the interior is beautifully designed with a nod to the 1920's to offer comfort and pleasure.
There was nothing about the hotel itself we didn't like, we really enjoyed our stay. Do expect to pay high bar prices, 7 euro for coke and 16 euro for a pint of beer. For that you get great service and a lovely snack added but a few rounds soon add up.

We have stayed before and took our family this time. The Hotel is superb in every way. The service is excellent, their attention to detail is outstanding. All this is done with an effortless grace and charm that makes every stay a complete pleasure.

The quality of the room was fantastic. That staff were also very helpful and everyone we met was lovely to deal with. It just had this classy and elegant feel to it.
The breakfast was good but I think for the money it could have been more varied and the cooked option I feel should have had more options.

We have Stayed in The Westminster for over 25 years - weekends in May, July & September every year plus other occasions. The staff were always friendly, been there for years, knew us - friends, and a pleasure to arrive with Jose the concierge taking the car and parking it. Luggage in our rooms. Le Barrier group refurbishing, sweeping clean the long standing staff, making staff redundant or staff not wishing to stay with the new group - ruining this once exquisite hotel. Parking used to be free for hotel guests. They charge now. This review being a "what DID you like".
The Westminster is now just a standard overpriced 5* uncharacteristic hotel on the inside without the previous uniquiness.
New staff, insisting seeing our passports(they were in our suitcases)despite the fact we have stayed in the hotel hundreds of times over 25 years-despite showing them the fully paid Bookings.com receipt.Insisting on taking our credit card taking £744+as a deposit(for what exactly?)-still pending on our account for 2 days after our return to UK!We decided to pay our bar bill for the first day the following morning, realising their front of house staff were absolutely NOT trained sufficiently on the computer & were disrespectful and inpolite.2nd Day they asked for the payment for the previous day again saying we hadn't paid.Further debates and they insisted we needed to pay another 6 Euros for something or other. We gave in-sick of arguing.Everytime we have stayed at The Westminster prior to the re-furb during Covid, there was always a note from the Manager in our room with a bottle of wine, welcoming us back to the hotel.Staff were wonderful.Character of hotel has been absolutely ruined. What have you done to the room on left- hideous repititious wallpaper trying to replicate books-looks SO amateur. All the beautiful marble/granite in bathrooms replaced with cheap alternative.Black "wallpaper in toilet-how unsanitary" with scratch marks already where people have reached for/changed loo rolls. No extractor fan in en-suite.Gold paint all mouldy and black at the ceiling in the corner(I have photos).Rooms are miniscule compaired to the normal & grand suites we used to stay in.Breakfast at 35 euros-really!The wonderful lift-THE main attraction as soon as you enter the hotel-destroyed by unsympathetic H&S cheap refurb no doubt.Character destroyed. If it wasn't for the fact the balconetts and other iron work have wrought iron in "W",no doubt Le Barrier would change all to"B"as they have with window awnings-Box hedges next?Only thing refurbed in marble were the toilets near lift presumably for visitors to marvel at.

Quietness of the room as well as quality of the bed
having to look to the car in the car park, that wasn't exactly where we were told it would be. Fortunately it wasn't raining.
I would have expected someone to walk us to the car. A little bit of a sour departure because of this. Shame as the rest was really great !
