The building itself was beautiful and our room was everything i wanted . We had a four poster in the old house. The bed be was comfortable. We had a 2 night stay booked, so had breakfast and dinner over the 2 nights. We managed to do lots of sight seeing due to the location of the hotel.
My first real disappointment was when we had to rush our first course at breakfast/cereal as the hot food we had ordered had been brought out before we had finished, this also happened at dinner and as i looked around the room so was it happening to other guests. My husband and i had been hotel hopping around Yorksire all week and yet lesser expensive hotels were not rushing their guests to eat, i feel maybe this being a big establishment the individual interpersonal relationship is missing.

I pass the property on a weekly basis and didn’t know it was there - A proper hidden gem - Lovely historical building - Very comfortable
All was very good - Couldn’t open the window in the room

Food, service and building
There was a wedding on so it was very crowded and noisy in the garden
4.3
From arrival to departure we were made to feel welcome. The Breakfasts were exceptional with a wide choice and good service. For evening meals, the selection was slightly limited as explained on the menu, but we found the food excellent in quality and quantity. Our room was clean and everything worked. Bed comfortable and so quiet at night even though there was a wedding party in one night.
Leaving!

The house is lovely with lots of historic items.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
We found that overall the hotel (described as luxury) did not live up to the standard we were expecting - we had much better food and service in other much cheaper hotels that we stayed in during our holiday trip.
We were expecting better food - the breakfast was OK but we had much better quality food elsewhere on our travels.
The wifi was intermittent at best and the TV in our room did not work one day.
There did not seem to be an environmental policy and towels were replaced daily - unlike the water in the room.

Holdsworth House is a unique property with a rich history .

Beautiful house with lots of history, fabulous room, great location & staff lovely.
4.3
Garden. Staff were friendly.
There was a wedding going on. We couldn’t go into the bar. Dinner was awful as the kitchen was distracted.
4.3
Beautiful hotel, beds and pillows were so comfortable. There was a wedding the night we stayed but we didn't hear a thing. Food was exceptional and they catered for my gluten/dairy free and other food allergies. The staff cannot do enough for you. I would highly recommend a stay here.
Nothing to dislike
4.3
Beautiful period house full of character, very clean and super friendly staff.
We had the split-level room, hoping for an experience and just pushing the boat out that little bit more. Unfortunately, the room didn't match our expectations, the photographs are very deceiving it's basically a settee as you come through the door and a mezzanine floor which a bed just about fits on.
So if you want to go to the toilet during the night you have to navigate down the stairs.
This is not a spacious room, which would be challenging for someone not so nimble.
Disappointed with an optional service charge added to the bill of £15, we didn't notice until we'd paid the bill, and we were not asked.
Breakfast-great choice - BUT
I had to send my full English breakfast back as It had a raw sausage on the plate which fortunately my wife noticed after I had cut through, the centre was very raw meat, I made no fuss and the meal was taken away and totally replaced, on balance my daughter joined us during the breakfast the staff kindly offered her a drink and asked if she required any toast.

Breakfast , the food was was absolutely fine but portion size seemed small for a full English breakfast in comparison to other hotels I have stayed at in the past year, but it was well cooked and arrived with minimal delay.
Overall it was a lovely stay, the rooms were clean and we were there for a wedding. Due to icy conditions I found that not being allowed to walk back through the dining area meant a walk over an icy surface, and one of the other guests fell over due to this. Only other thing that wasn't great was the attitude of one staff member at breakfast time as they seemed most unhappy!
4.3
Holdsworth House itself is stunning and fit very nicely into its surroundings, lake just a stone throw away you really don't get any better. The staff were very tenative and very helpful, nothing was to much of a problem. We went for my mother-in-laws 70th birthday and reception even put balloons and a card in her room (Without being asked).
We will be staying again, so much to do around the area esp if you like hiking, swimming, boating etc.
The drinks menu was a little pricey (£8.50 pint) but that is expected, there isn't any other restraurants or pubs in walking distance, actually I should say in safe walking distance.
But like I said, we will be staying again.

Chosen dinner option not very good, but resolved by staff

This amazing hotel is so ornate. Our (executive) room was exceptional, with everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay. Also, I asked for some specific flowers to be arranged for our Wedding Anniversary, and they more than met the mark. A big shout out to a local florist called Flowers by Jade in Halifax. We also had champagne cooling on ice (per our request), and a bar of chocolate. The room was more than adequate in terms of size, with a nice-sized shower & separate bath with shower over. Breakfast, as always, was lovely. The dining areas are superb. Parking wasn't a problem at all.
The water pressure in our shower wasn't too great, but ok for a one or two night stay. The shower cubicle was just in need of a little mildew remover at the base. Nothing offensive, just something we're tuned into as we run a holiday let. I don't recall seeing a safe in the room which, I feel, is a nice addition if you don't want to carry things around with you.

Good room
Comfortable but very small. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
My room overlooked the courtyard so had to keep the blinds down.
4.3
Location chosen to fit with business schedule, Holdsworth House delivered a very comfortable, friendly and well-fed stay. Booked their standard Double Room which provided a very comfortable bed, a squeaky clean (if rather compact) shower based bathroom and a very agreeable light dining experience.
No complaints at all

Disabled car parking.

Really enjoyed would highly recommend

The surroundings are beautiful
We couldn't enjoy the garden on the day we arrived because it was booked out for a wedding party.
The meal was nouvelle cuisine at its worst. Some bits were OK but others tasteless. Not worth the exorbitant price. Breakfast was uninspiring
4.3
fantastic grounds and ancient building
menu very limited
4.3
Friendly helpful staff, good quality food
More choice on the menu, cheaper drinks
