Wow. The property was amazing set in beautiful grounds. Easy to find and central on the island. Staff could not be more helpful x
But tired in places but expected as old building.

We liked everything.

Check in was at the Spa, which seemed odd, but a major problem.

Gorgeous building in excellent surroundings. Use of the pool and spa facilities whilst there.
Great location for the showground.
Room could have been a bit cleaner - dirt on skirting boards and dirty glass.

Room clean and staff pleasant.
Fire on Sunday 2nd June disrupted my anniversary booking. Dangerous and poor communication told to stay put by the owner when we should have evacuated. Then evacuated and door locked and nobody had control of the situation. Didn't get to bed till 3 am and no use of spa the next day.

Such a fantastic stay that we have already re-booked for our wedding anniversary later in the year. Beautiful location with access included to the on site spa and gym with a swimming pool. The staff couldn’t do enough to help and were lovely throughout our stay. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced given the luxury nature of the premises, we were pleasantly surprised. Bed was like floating on a cloud and we had a small patio area with chairs and table which was a lovely addition.
The hotel is well used in terms of fixtures and styling in places, though this is part of the charm with such an establishment, some of our rooms decor was a little bit ‘tired’. Despite this, the room was overall well presented and clean, and so we have still rated it the highest we could, because it did not detract from the experience in the slightest, and as mentioned above, we have already booked to go back.
7.0
The spa, the gardens.
Very poor service in restaurant. We waited an hour for our food. It was also very cold due to lack of heating. In spite of raising this issue the manager made no attempt to contact us even though I requested that they did.

Fabulous location in glorious surroundings. Even though renovations were ongoing this did not affect the stay whatsoever . Staff were excellent , food and restaurant were great . Top marks to the chef for both evening meals and breakfast , with the breakfast being cooked to order . Spa was fantastic , swimming pool , sauna and gym.
Personally thought the pillows were very hard , and would have been nice to have a softer pillow , but hardly a major issue , just an observation .

The location of the hotel was perfect and it was quiet. The spa area was clean. We loved the steam bath and the pool was nice and warm and also quiet. The dinner was OK . Our room was a little on the small side but adequate.
The temporary Reception area was not clearly marked. The proper Reception, main sitting room and dining room had not been finished and so were unavailable. This was disappointing as they told us it would be finished. The lamp in our room was broken and not replaced although we mentioned it. Items were not plugged in in the room. Breakfast - the scrambled eggs had a strange taste and texture. Dinner - they had run out of some dishes by 7.30pm.

The spa facilities were second to none, absolutely fantastic, beautiful pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, could not fault it.
The breakfast was to die for, a great choice of cereals, fruit juices, pastries, cheese, and meat.
All meals were freshly cooked, these also were amazing. Unfortunately, the evening meal was disappointing. We had the traditional fish and chips, not very nice at all. Our waitress for breakfast was an extremely nice person and was very efficient. Thank you 😊
I know that the hotel is under renovation. However, our room was rather dated. The most notable factor was the dirty windows with its weather beaten woodwork. The safe in our room was locked on arrival. It was two days before housekeeping resolved the issue, the day before we left. The reception for Wi-Fi was poor.

The hotel was amazing had to ask for a fan took a little while but it arrived before the end of the night, but a very pleasant stay
The breakfast was a bit hit and miss, the cooked breakfast was fine but didn't like the spiral sausages, I know it looks good but good old fashioned pork sausages would have been better, evening meal was good, not much to choose from, but what there was was very tasty, service was a little slow but I think our server was new got a few things wrong but was acceptable

The rooms were exceptionally clean and the spa was perfect for me and my family. The staff couldn’t have helped more.
9.0
Well situated for exploring the island, the spa was fantastic as were the staff in all areas. They are a credit to the hotel and we couldn’t praise them enough. The locals in the spa were very welcoming and offered insight into the hotels history and where to go, arguably the best weekend away we’ve had. The food was fantastic, the Hake & Lamb Fusion are the recommendations.
The only negatives we could really see were that the room we were in was a little dated and could do with a a bit of work decor wise, however I must say it was spotless, I mean that the lamps or TV for example didn’t really match the feel of the room
The other one was that there were drink menus in the spa on the tables but no explanation as to how to order them, essentially you had to go to the bar which is in the restaurant, changing in and out just to get a drink was a bit odd.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. I was travelling alone for work and they were all really nice. My room was comfortable, and the use of the spa facilities were an added bonus. The food was exceptional.

Hotel, although in the process of refurbishment, will be 5*.
Location was perfect
Food was of highest order (although kitchen ran out of penang veg curry, most sad). Please expand on Asian cuisine.
New owners friendly, driven and welcoming
Little niggling things like thermal shower not working; spa not opening at 7.00 before b/fast; more informative about a particularly interesting historical Hall.
On the whole and considering new owners have just taken over and there is a lot of refurbishment taking place, we would return tomorrow.

The staff couldn't do enough for you. Upon arriving the receptionist went through everything with us and took us to the room. They had upgraded us to a 4 poster bed due to celebrating my fiance birthday. The room was beautiful, clean, large and very comfy. The facilities were fantastic. We spent our evening in the billiard room playing snooker or in the bar with the very welcoming staff. The spa facilities were good although could do with a bit of a revamp. The gym had all the basic equipment needed for a workout. The food was lovely and fresh and the bacon at breakfast was like a gammon steak it was so thick! Amazing stay from start to finish.
Nothing. Fantastic stay from start to finish.

Beautiful location & friendly staff with good spa facilities.
The kitchen staff really made an effort to cater for my vegan diet. Some more vegan options would be great though.

Nothing. Hotel is under new ownership and is being re-furbished. It can only improve.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the spa area was really well equipped and the pool was lovely. Saunas were good although there seemed to be no lights in one of them and the evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast were really tasty and again, very friendly and attentive staff.
It really does feel like the hotel has been neglected in favour of the spa. The decor in places felt old and tired as opposed to characterful, and some areas are clearly showing signs of having gone well past the need of repair. This all adds to the slightly neglected feel in some areas.
The room itself was very spacious, a slight issue with the bed was that it was two put together that didn't quite match up, one side was higher. Weirdly it felt like one side of the room had been cleaned, and as you got towards the window it had become more lax. There was dust around the table lamp, and there was cobwebs around the tops of the window frames. Additionally, one of the lights in the bathroom had stopped working, and the bedside phone had a bit of the front missing. It just felt like details that could have been easily fixed had been left.
The main issue we experienced occured during the evening. Whenever you flushed the toilet a really irritating high pitch whine started emitting. Initially, this went on for half an hour and became a bit more varied time wise afterwards- but it was still really irritating. We tried calling the out of hours duty manager and left a message but got no response. As a result we ended up only flushing the toilet if we had need of the more solid toilet actions- but it really wasn't something I would have expected of a near £170 per night hotel.
The next morning we told the receptionist about these issues and how it had marred our stay, she explained that the duty manager from the previous evening had forgotten to hand over the phone to the next manager hence the lack of contact. One of the cleaners then mentioned that they knew of noises in the room but attributed to the room above. This actually irritated us more as it was clear there was an issue they were aware of but had not addressed which tied in with that overall feeling of neglect.

Location not great but ok if you are on a bike

We loved the pool facilities! The staff were friendly and helpful. And the hotel was clean, comfortable and peaceful.
As a whole, the hotel didn’t offer enough value for money. For what we paid, especially given that it didn’t include breakfast, we expected a bigger room. And the attention to detail was lacking: no spoons with the tea making kit, not enough hangers in the wardrobe, etc.
