Dated, old fashioned and in need of a refresh
The staff. Rude, unhelpful and in desperate need of some customer service training
4.3
Beautifully restored building and grounds. All built around great service, with engaging and friendly staff. Garden rooms well appointed with quality products and both room service meals and breakfast were excellent. Great setting overlooking manicured meadows with a large terrace to take in the views and relax.

Lovely surroundings and beautiful hotel and staff very accommodating and helpful. Lovely and comfortable bedroom and good breakfast menu
Nothing

lovely room, we liked that our beds were turned, decor was elegant and nice. Some staff were delightful, others were a bit haughty or may be somewhat afraid of the boss. Food was excellent and grounds very nice.
Restaurant staff seemed a bit stiff and fearful at times
4.3
Location excellent. Breakfast good but eggs were cold. Should have sent them back.
Breakfast eggs. Lack of taxi service because of location
4.3
lovely property
grumpy and unhelpful staff
4.3
nice historic building
no lifts/elevators to go to my room and where there were would still to lug suitcases up flights of stairs I have found this to be common in the UK for older hotels or extensions that have been done piecemeal

Beautiful surroundings, very quiet, amazing restaurant!
The beds were very, very hard. They could definitely use a topper!

The hotel was a delight and we were just disappointed we were unable to stay a further night. The hotel exceeded our expectations.
Nothing really.

Absolutely love coming to stay here, it’s a special place for us as this is where we got Married. We had a lovely afternoon tea and enjoyed some relaxing time together in this gorgeous hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, looking forward to the next time.

Beautiful location and very high quality accommodation.

this is a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds and the bonus of a theatre on site which was showing a west end show
This hotel is very isolated , you really need a car to get about , and if you dont and require a taxis its expensive and you need to pre book as some taxis after a certain time wouldnt pick you up so you are stranded

Location is serene, quiet and romantic!
Breakfast and dinner were very average.

Very good hotel. Lovely decor. Comfortable room.
TV was quite old and not very big. Possibly a fridge in the room?

I booked a room and theatre visit. When I got to the hotel they said we were booked into the hotel the night after the show, this despite my booking the two together with the hotel. I was informed that they were fully booked apart from a four poster room which would cost me an extra £100. I had no choice but to book it. No apologies were given, they were obviously blaming me for the error. I have used this hotel/theatre before because they have really good shows. Breakfast was also poor, it took an hour with a very grumpy waitress to get served. I shall not be going back. After spending around £500 for the night I shall not be going back.
The assistance and the breakfast service

Staff were helpful except for one lady on reception who was no help at all. We were travelling back from the F1 at silverstone, it was 8-30 pm on a Sunday and we hadn’t eaten and we expected to be back by 9-00. I called reception to place an order for room service food to be delivered around 9 as they closed for orders at 9 when we were due back. Reception told me she could not help as the kitchen was too busy with the theatre.
We had to drive further up the M1 to the services to eat which is not something I would expect to do when staying in a hotel of this type. If roomservice closed at 9-00 she should have taken my phone order at 8-30.
