central location, quiet, nice crew

As lovely as it was it was all a bit awkward !
The girl who greeted and ‘installed’ us was really lovely & helpful.
There were meals advertised outside that are no longer in existence which
we found quite weird actually .
The detail to attention in our room was quite spectacular, in fact quite stunning.
Nothing - a meal would have been appreciated.
4.3
The lovely renovation of rooms really invited you to enjoy.
Staff seemed to ba a little rushed at times.
4.3
The restaurant was not open for breakfast but there were plenty of options in town.
the room was well divided with a great bathroom.
need to check soap dispenser in the bathroom as was empty. As i left early was unable to let them know.
4.3
Great location, accommodating and friendly staff.
Door knocked by staff at 11.03am to remind me checkout was at 11.00am. Just as I was about to depart.
4.3
The location by the ferry terminal.
We are on a 50 days trip across 7 countries and this was our most expensive night, so as a hotel interior designer I was expecting a special experience. Generally the room felt as thought it had been designed in the early 2000’s and hasn’t moved with the times.
On arrival (at night time) the windows were open with the lights on in the room meaning there were quite a few bugs in the room.
Although the Formal Suite is a very large room, once you’d removed the many decorative pillows from the bed there was no space on the three piece suite to sit. The chairs anyway were covered in throws and arm rest caps, clearly showing age as was the ottoman with rips in the top.
Bed linens, towels and pillows were all way past their best and more reminiscent of a hostel rather than a boutique hotel. A bed topper would have added some comfort to the hard mattress. For a $500 room rate I would expect a mini fridge for the milk and some organisation of the tea/ coffee facilities would not go amiss. Also with such a high rate I would have thought breakfast would be included or at least a coffee machine in the room.
The bathroom is also huge but the poor layout leaves only a small shower and vanity.

No refrigerator in room

lovely staff
Noisy room and uncomfortable bed

The beautifully restored property with stylish rooms and excellent location.
An air conditioner or compressor downstairs or maybe next door kept coming on every 5 minutes or so through the night.
4.3
very nice room and very friendly helpfull stuff.
very good restaurant in the house. we lived it.

We were upgraded to the largest suite as we were on our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
4.3
Extremely friendly and helpful host. Nice food on site and excellent location. Huge room and great bathroom facilities.
NO FRIDGE in a room you can fit a basketball court in. Difficult for light sleepers as noisy from the outside.
4.3
The Bath was wonderful
The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the street noise was overwhelming.
4.3
The Jacuzzi bath was amazing!!! As was the room. We enjoyed having fresh water every day.
There was no help with booking a taxi, the restaurant were incredibly inflexible (too busy to provide some gravy with the pie, and they couldn’t serve the food without mash because it was going to take too long). Lots of small mistakes made which was frustrating for the price paid.

A lovely hotel in a convenient location to explore the area. The staff was very accommodating. A huge thank you to Elizabeth for all her attention to every detail.
Nothing

A bit more care needed , tidy up reception, replace blown light bulbs and fill up toiletries
4.3
Exceptional finish to room, bathroom is also beautiful. Complimentary wine on arrival a nice touch especially after slumming on the interislander. Restaurant was equally as special. Thank you.
Perhaps a small fridge in room.

Fabulous from start to finish
The 5.1 earthquake which was also pretty awesome.

Beautiful room, Old World luxury, underfloor heating in the bathroom, beautiful bathroom, lovely hosts
There could have been a small bar-fridge in the room

Elizabeth, who looked after us, was fabulous and utterly charming - just like the hotel. The Luxury Room we stayed in was lovelier and bigger than expected, especially the bathroom. They brought us fresh croissants with jams and butter on one of the last mornings and they were incredible! The petit fours and wine on arrival also made us feel very special.
The room had no mini fridge, which would have been really handy. The pillows were a bit too soft for our taste. If I had to nitpick, there were too many chairs and cushions (we literally had to climb over a chair to get to the coffee machine). Warning about the evening turn-down service would have been appreciated, as were weren't expecting two room services every day.

The room exceeded our expectations, along with the staff and service
Only thing that was missing was a fridge
4.3
absolutely gorgeous , excellent staff, amazing food, luxurious- loved this place
nothing! it would have been nice if the restaurant was open in the morning to get a proper coffee, but that’s about it
4.3
It is located in the heart of Picton
I didn’t like that there was only a bath, no shower. I found this slightly inconvenient.
4.3
cute, small, boutique feel and location

Great iconic building. Fantastic meal, warm pastries provided for breakfast that were fabulous. Staff kind and gracious. Room stunning -- That bath ROCKS!
4.3
Gorgeous room, bed was amazingly comfortable. Greated with a glass of bubbly and a beautiful sweets platter and to top it off we were delivered fresh pastries for breakfast. Room was lovely and warm and quiet.
Only thing we missed was a little bar fridge as we brought cheese and wine
4.3
The French influenced stay. The lovely attention to detail and staff that were seeming to know when you weren't around so your room was opened, closed, warmed and prepared every day. The lovely touch of French pastries and petit fors, the glass just of lemon iced water and the beautiful decor of the room. The most relaxing and lovely stay and just fabulous group of staff who we wish to thank as did not see you all before we left. We will rave and pass on recommendations to our friends. Thankyou. Lisa and Craig.
There was nothing to not like.
