The room was nice and clean as was the grounds
Hot taps in our bathroom was very hot and the running water was boiling I almost scald my hands! Informed the receptionist.
4.2
Breakfast excellent, sheets crispy clean, large fluffy towels.
Only one criticism that no bath mat was supplied and water made floor slippy.

The place is a little gem in a little village . Breakfast was spot on proper job self service at weekend so you can have as big or small breakfast as you require. Room was massive with a great bathroom. The place had nice friendly feel to it and staff very helpful. Will go again for a long weekend.
Only thing the blinds could have been a bit thicker to keep the light out.

Beautiful entrance to the hotel and staff were welcoming. Loved the restaurant for breakfast. Room was a little run down and too hot even with fan on. Loved the huge bath though!

Lunch, dinner and breakfast were very good. all staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Both hot and cold taps on bathroom basin needed the attention of a plumber. Mattress a little hard for us and the ornate feet on the legs at the foot of the bed were good toe stubbers.
4.2
The decor of the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Cosy bar
Outside space to have a drink

the staff and hotel was very nice, all very polite and friendly, good laugh with the bar man, breakfast waiter superb.
sadly the milk in the room was off due to the heat and the tea on the evening meal the gammon was poor very fatty gammon.

Have stayed before so we knew what to expect.
Hotel was particularly helpful and prompt in arranging a room with a walk-in shower as needed for my wife's temporary disability.
Staff were friendly and engaged making you feel individual.
Thank you all
Fully enjoyed our stay again.
Buffet style breakfast on one morning surprised us but the staff explained the reason, as they were busy with business guests, who all needed to eat in a short period of time. The dining room was, however, quiet for us at around 8.30am!

Beautiful location. Property and views.
The very young waiting on staff could maybe benefit from better training. The first morning there was no one visible to guide us to how the proceedure worked, we had to assume we could sit where we liked n help ourselves, i had to hovver outside the 'presumably,' kitchen door and ask if we might have a coffee and toast. In the evening our main course was brought whilst we were still eating our starters... Admittedly an older member of staff rushed over and apologised.

The staff were friendly and polite.
A great disappointment: we had booked for 5 nights, but left after 2 due to the problems we encountered. We had booked "a superior double", but we ended up in a small, cluttered, gloomy and badly-ventilated room. It faced the road, which seemed to be the local rat-run in the mornings and evenings. This traffic noise meant that the window couldn't be opened for ventilation (although the window stay didn't work properly anyway). The room had an air conditioner unit, but it couldn't be operated by the occupant - it had to be turned on and off by a member of staff, somewhere in the corridor, and there was no control over the amount of cooling; the choice was 'stuffy' or 'freezing cold'. A further annoyance was that the bed was perfectly placed to catch the light coming under the door every time the automatic corridor lights came on. All in all, we had hardly any sleep for those 2 nights. There were several other minor issues with the room, but we might have ignored them if it wasn't for the major problems.
You should be aware that there a LOT of awkward stairs when going to and from these rooms.
We didn't seek a change of room as we were also disappointed with the quality of food offered - one of the reasons for picking this hotel was that we could eat and drink in the evenings without having to worry about driving. We had chosen to eat from the menu available in the bar: the first night's meal could only be described as 'average pub grub', but the second night's meal was truly dreadful (it's been a long time since I had eaten such a horrible risotto - it was bright green stodgy rice porridge). Also, we rarely eat a cooked breakfast, but there was no continental available on the first morning (perhaps because we were the only guests in the hotel Sunday night?) - we ended up with some cereal, fruit and other bits and pieces (no croissants, bread rolls or similar).

Nice and clean, efficient staff. Beautiful views of the Amber Valley from the terrace in the hotel car park
It was hard to get taxis, not the hotel's fault but my weekend did coincide with a train strike so understandable
