The staff who interacted with us were polite. There was a quiet bar area, and we enjoyed the continental breakfast.
We had a standard, double room on the ground floor which had large damp patches on the chimney breast and outside walls. The room smelled musty and was very cold when we checked in. I complained about this and asked to be moved to another room. The receptionist said she would have to check if there was another room available, went away to consult someone and eventually returned saying there were no other rooms available at that time. We also had to pay extra for our breakfast.
The carpets and decoration of the room was poor and the corridor also smelled musty. The bathroom was cold, the towel rail and shaving light didn't work, there was a blind permanently down on the bathroom window and was inaccessible without climbing into the bath. The bedside table lamp could be switched on at the bedside but could only be turned off from the main light switch on the wall by the door.

Super friendly & helpful staff; all staff were truly lovely, but the lady that served us at breakfast couldn't do enough - loved her!
Very clean, lovely big room (junior suite), beautiful old building, good quality breakfast, excellent parking.
Handy to have a little convenience store 2 doors down and lots of places to eat in walking distance if you wanted to eat elsewhere... although the food was great in the hotel!
Even the locals in the pub & the local store were really friendly and made you feel welcome.
It was a great place to stay whilst our daughter was at camp at Grafham Water over the weekend!
Nothing!

Staff were polite.
Nothing more memorable.
Room was antiquated, ensuite clean, old fashioned but adequate, windows rattled, noisy street, expensive bar. No communication via disturb or do not disturb signage led to room not being cleaned/tidied or towels replenished.

Very welcoming on arrival. Room was spotless, comfy bed.All staff were friendly and helpful.Great place to stay if exploring the area.
Hairdryer needs upgrade, only blew cold air.
Over basin light needs fixing too, I had to get ready to go out but mirror on wall near bed was too high for me.

The staff here are so lovely and my evening meal was excellent but that's about all I can say positively.
I feel guilty at leaving such a poor review but the building is truly awful. Yes it is a very old building and some people seem to think that means that the building doesn't have to be clean... I disagree. This property needs a serious overhaul and a lot of money spending on it. The carpets are disgusting. I would not return.

It was clean and convenient for our visit to friends. It was also warm and the bed comfortable.

Lovely dinner. Family made to feel very welcome.
And great choice of draught beers.
Bed bit tired and lumpy.

Breakfast = Chef is the ace card at this property
Cleanliness esp. bathroom. Hairs in bath from previous guests. Dirt at skirting level around sink. Bath leaking. General appearance of shoddy maintenance.

Lovelly atomsphere, log fire in bar, beams etc added to charm of building, food excellent quality and good size portions. good selection of beers. would definitely use again.
Not complaining but had room 6 very large and great bathroom/shower but as on buisness no desk for using laptop, managed with top on chest of drawers. Very concious of squeaky floor boards in room (expected in old building) but worried about those below me. Also note breakfast dont start untill 7.30am could be an issue if early appointments to meet.

Super location for us. Lovely hotel, very well appointed. Super staff too.

Clean comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Straight off A1 and easy parking.
3.5
Staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Food especially evening meal was excellent. Worth staying there for food alone. Location pleasant in a quiet village away from A1.
Breakfast service was slower than expected if you were in a hurry. Leave more time for breakfast if needed. Rooms were large but fittings were tired especially in the bathroom. My room was too warm and I couldnt turn down heating or switch off handrail.
