This was by far our favourite place to stay for our entire trip in Japan. The meals are expensive but for good reason they are delicous! Could not reccommend enough.
Not a negative for the experience but the advert makes it seem more industrail then it was. You are treated with so many personal touches that it feels like you are the only one there.

We received the most incredible service! Rooms were spacious and comfortable, with our own yukatas, tea and snacks, and snuggly warm futons for sleeping. Not only was every one of the many dishes of our breakfast and dinner delicious but graciously served with a beautiful view of river thru maple leaves. The onsen baths were an absolute pleasure every night—we really got spoiled! The hotel staff anticipated our every want and need including having our shoes and walking sticks ready for our hikes. And the hotel arranged for our luggage to be sent to our next hotel. The complimentary hotel taxi was prompt and efficient and refused to accept any tip, picking us up and dropping us off at the bus and train station.
There was nothing we didn’t like. We would love to have stayed longer and the hiking to the temples up the mountain each day were refreshing and stimulating.

The Breakfast was amazing. The staff was very engaging and made you feel welcomed. Location in the mountains was very quiet and relaxing
It was a little hard to find the hotel from the bus stop. A sign would have helped.

The staff were amazingly attentive and friendly! They treated me like family and even though there was a slight language barrier, we were able to talk comfortably throughout the stay. The shrine up the mountain behind the hotel was an amazing suggestion they offered!
I enjoyed everything! There was nothing I disliked.

The hotel is run by a family with great service mind. They took care of every details to make our comfortable stay. We chose Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki sets for our dinner. And the meat was great. The owner herself took care of how to cook the meal at the table correctly. One of the best dinner in a ryokan we had experienced. Tofu breakfast was also very good.
It was raining when we stayed. During Fall, the area would be very beautiful.

Rustic Japanese ryokan. Exactly as advertised.
No outdoor onsen. But that would be a higher price.
