Nachiya was a perfect stay for my family (2 adults and 2 children). It is a beautiful house with an amazing host. The property itself is spacious and exceptionally well-kept. A traditional place to stay with modern conveniences.
The host recommended restaurants nearby and sites that were less crowded in the neighborhood. He and his staff were amazing.
We would love to come back and stay again!

Exceptional Japanese style living quarters, very spacious with beautiful view of the garden and atrium. Western style master bedroom with TV and Netflix. Second tatami/ futon style bedroom. Air conditioning in every room makes it possible to turn it off in bedroom itself. Supportive owner who provides very good recommendations. Pictures show exactly what to expect.
Nothing, we had a wonderful stay.

We liked the whole place, the atmosphere, the friendly welcome, the house was lovely done; both for how it was decorated (with good quality modern art in the bedroom!)
All machines and appliances worked as we wished!!

The host made us feel very welcomed upon arrival. He recommended some local restaurants and places to visit, which we appreciated. The property was beautiful, very traditional Japanese-style home with modern amenities. Local streets were quiet at night so we slept well. It was also located in a convenient location with access to many buses. The host also helped us to book a taxi as we had quite a bit of luggage, which was very kind of him. Would definitely book again!
Being a local residential area, it was hard to find restaurants within a short walk.

I have a great experience staying in Nachiya. The house is spacious and clean. Decorated with traditional Japanese interior and gardening arts. I spent two days with my wife and two kids. The kids love the Japanese style floor beddings. And there is free Netflix.

It was very traditional, the host was amazingly helpful, there isn’t anything I could fault.
No complaints at all.

Location a bit far but it was ok after we got used to the buses and trains

The owner, Mamoru-san was extremely helpful. I had a health complications on our last day and he even took me to the clinic. He gives you a tablet that has all house appliance manuals and many sites of interest around Kyoto, including good restaurants and his recommended places and restaurants. I stayed in 4 places in Japan and this one was the best, by far. Extremely recommended, especially if you're looking for that old style Japanese house experience.

The property was absolutely amazing. The house was kept in impeccable condition and it just felt incredibly authentic. Outside of the property, the owners Mamaru and Masako were honestly the best hosts that I have ever encountered in all the times that I have stayed abroad. The two of them were extremely attentive and friendly during the entire duration of our trip, with Mamaru sending me messages if there was anything that he could do to better accommodate us. At the end of our trip he even called us a cab so that we wouldn’t have to deal with Uber or the city bus. We had an excellent time at Nachiya and will definitely try to book this place again when we do inevitably return to Kyoto.
Nothing really.

Nachiya is located in a quaint Kyoto neighborhood with easy access to public transportation and near some of the city's premiere tourist sights. The traditional Japanese furnishings were stunning and the facilities are very functional. The photos don't do it justice. Mamoru went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. Highly recommended.
A little off the beaten path.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He made a few follow ups to make sure we were alright during our entire stay. The place itself is really clean, pretty and well located.

Very beautiful and clean place. Nice and quiet good for families…

We wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese accommodation called a Kyo-machiya, and the three of us loved the ambience. We had space and privacy.
There were ample amenities and kind touches, making it feel like we were in a home rather than an accommodation. The mossy gardens and the giant mossy rock in the inner garden (tsuboniwa) were a joy to look out upon, especially when it was raining.
After our initial consultation with our host, we never saw him again until we were leaving. He was also only an email away and ordered a taxi for us as we were leaving.
Only one thing was the lack of a hand rail down the three steps from the bathroom to the bedroom.

Lovely traditional style japanese house, beautiful setting and only a 5 minute walk from the daisen-in and daitoku-ji temples. Lots of bus stops near by so you can get places. Buses are also quite cheap only 230 yen flat fee for a one way trip (approx £1.50 gbp at time of writing). So even though this place is about 30 mins bus journey from kyoto station it doesn't matter because it won't necessarily cost more.
Nothing everything was amazing and clean

The stay was fantastic. The house is just beautiful and has everything that you need. The location is great. You are in a quiet area away from all the tourists to get a great experience of the Japanese life. There are heaps of buses within 5 mins walk that make it super easy get around. Mamarou was a wonderful host!! Highly recommended !!!!!

This is the most exquisite stay we had whilst travelling through Japan. The property is astonishing,
Beautiful throughout, the owner was there to meet us and explained where everything was located ,the property is situated in a quite lane and is a stones throw from some of the most stunning temples in Kyoto .An electronic tablet was left with locations of local restaurant cafes and bakeries , travel from kyoto train station is around 20 minutes costing around £20 .

Very comfortable house located very close to ginkakiju temple, and access to buses to all parts of kyoto

Excellent accommodation that features modern amenities but with traditional Japanese architecture and aesthetics. Modern amenities include fully automated washer/dryer, automatically filling bath tub, wifi, regular sized fridge/freezer, etc. The owner has left printed instructions for various features of the house in multiple languages, including English. The views of the garden are tranquil and it was especially beautiful since it snowed during out stay. The location is very close to a bus stop (Bukkyou University), a convenience store, and a supermarket if you want to make something simple in the kitchen. It's locate in the middle of a residential neighborhood so I had questions at first, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stay. I would definitely come back again.

It is a clean and beautiful traditional house. The facility is much better than the picture. There is a prestigious temple nearby. It's a nice place to enjoy quietly. The host is also very good.I'm always ready to help.I'm thinking of visiting again. All the restaurants you recommended were the best

The best experience during our 14days trip in Japan. Beautiful traditional Japanese house. Super clean and quiet. Nicely arranged for western style master bedroom and Japanese style futon room. Kitchen fully equipped especially tea set we loved the most during cold winter night.
Site parking is bit small but the owner Mr Shiozaki was very kind and helped us parking. Be careful tall guys(above 185) not to hit head as the living area door frame a bit low. nothing else to complain.

Good location, right next to the magnificent Daitoku-ji, and a beautiful house perfect for a family stay.

A superb, very spacious, beautiful Japanese-style house all to yourself. The property looks exactly like how it appears on the website, or even better. We visited as a family trip, with parents and a small child, and it was perfect. The property used to be a pottery gallery, so the furnishing is like an artwork. It is located next to a prestigious temple, perfect for a morning walk.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and there is a big supermarket just 5min walk from the property so it is perfect for longer stays. There is a big washing-machine, free wifi, Netflix, and bathrooms are all modern. The bed and the futons are both very clean and super comfortable.
The host of the property is very nice, polite, and helpful (speaks English), and he is available throughout the stay if needed. The optional breakfast, served in the dining room overlooking a beautiful Japanese courtyard, was also very nice.
Enjoyed every aspect of the stay!
