The room was lovely, although the lighting in room 4 was quite dim..
The food in the restaurant was a very high standard and well presented, along with the very helpful staff.
In all honesty nothing springs to mind, apart from as stated the option for the choice of Romantic lighting,or normal everyday lighting.

Didn’t t have breakfast
The lighting in the room. Toooo dark, both wall lights and main light, particularly in the daytime.

Breakfast was expensive and very average. Coffee was dreadful

Our twin room was extremely specious and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was also spacious and top quality.
Nothing … it had a great atmosphere!

Tracey, was the only person who actually listened to our complaint..
From the first afternoon we got there the lady staff was not very friendly, I explained that was not the room we booked, as the room was booked since July and we called about 3 times to request room 1- we got room 10- DO NOT EVER HAVE THAT ROOM- the noise from the Pub is loud till 11.15.. music , talking etc.
She just wasn't listening to what I was saying, all she said was booking. Com got it wrong... - "no they didn't "
Next morning I went down spoke to Tracey, she was the only one who actually apologised. But everyone kept saying booking.Com!!
We have stayed here for over 12 years and always have room 1. But they kept saying Next time ask booking.com for zip bed? Never ever done that before.
I asked to speak to the Manager- (he/she) wasn't in.. I explained to Tracey about the previous day staff member.. Tracey called me back (went to meet friends)and said they are fully booked and unfortunately cannot change, not very professional of a Manager to have staff call when a complaint is logged 😕.
Won't ever be staying there -ever, ever AGAIN...
Thank you Tracey for your assistance- even though nothing was really done, you tried to pacify the situation

The cooked breakfast was good.
We only stayed bed and breakfast.
There was no offer of continental breakfast. There was no offer of cereal of any sort, no yoghurt or fresh fruit. We had to request toast and marmalade it was not automatically offered and the marmalade had to be located and arrived in two small pre packed sachets.
Help yourself tea and coffee but there were no cups and saucers just large cafeteria mugs.
The flowers on the table were dead and should have been replaced long ago

a beautiful building steeped in history
not much in the village

The room was very spacious with a huge bathroom and comfy bed. The bedroom area is locked, openable with a fob, so the pub guests can't get to them. I ate in the restaurant downstairs for both nights of my stay and staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely perfect. Breakfast was great with a good selection and perfectly cooked with friendly staff
There was a bit of noise outside my door as it was right near the entrance to the corridor with some rooms, but nothing major at all. The lighting wasn't great in the main room for doing makeup but the lighting in the bathroom was ok

Attractive old pub with great staff, and good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
We stayed here many years ago and the rooms have become more bland and corporate since then. We felt it was overpriced for a pub room with minimal facilities. The room had spartan furnishings - the room had plenty of room for a sofa or chairs for seating but there were none, and gloomy decor and lighting. I would also have expected, for example, that the bathroom would have had conditioner and body lotion for this price. The pub restaurant is very good but the room did not live up to expectations.

The room was spacious & well maintained. Really clean & prepared for our arrival with the spare bed made for the children.
Location was only along a corridor from the restaurant so very convenient.
Only very small thing was our room was located by the outside seating area so the patrons outside enjoying their evening could be heard & kept my children awake until late.
4.1
Very good food service and room
