We loved our stay at the guest house. Felt like we are at home. Breakfast was great as well. Pearl was the most welcoming host we had ever encountered. Friendly and kind.
4.2
The host.
Bedding needs replacing room a bit dated, shower didn't work so we didn't use it, we've decided now best stick to Premier inn's or Travelodge.

Breakfast was good (could add musesli to cereals available). Staff were friendly and the place was well-kept. It is simple and very good value. Also, reasonably easy to find.
A shared bathroom and toilet for my single room (which is small) are not ideal; but both were clean and worked well. For the price I would not complain.
4.2
great location, very good breakfast & comfortable rooms
nothing
4.2
a variety of tasty options for breakfast, friendly, very hospitable and safe atmosphere, comfy beds with multiple pillows, reliable wifi, fans in the rooms, close to the bus stops, available umbrellas, thick curtains that really block any outside light
You could disclose the information that sure, every room has a private bathroom but a single room's bathroom is across the hall which is not exactly comfortable 'when nature calls' in the middle of the night

Breakfast was lovely and so much choice. Pearl was a lovely lady made me feel so welcome.
Didnt like that the private bathroom was down the corridor from my room. Would not have booked had I known this .Very clean bed and breakfast if a little dated .Good value for money

Welcoming polite staff. Full Yorkshire Breakfast Excellent, if a little early for us! Bed Room & ensuite spacious. Parking permit useful.
The Main road a little nosey!
4.2
An excellent value guest house with good breakfasts and comfortable rooms at a good price. Kirk Lea is handy for the town, railway station and bus station: 15 minutes walk along a well-lit road, or 7-8 buses per hour from just outside. Location on a main road is not a problem: I experienced very little traffic noise.
4.2
Pearl was very friendly and could not do enough for you. Good , freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choices
Location was good as walking distance into town.
A bit of road noise but to be expected because of location and near a hospital
4.2
The friendly hosts made my stay. They were so welcoming, caring & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I felt safe & cared for & the guest house was so homely.
Having to come home!

Pearl and David are great hosts. Great breakfast. Clean and comfy.
Chocolate in the downstairs hall. Extra milk etc and a microwave in the upstairs hall.
Nothing too much trouble. Would stay again. Free parking.

Lovely friendly owners.
Noisy main road.

I didn't request a breakfast as getting it elsewhere. Very comfortable bed, and room was fine for my purposes.
My hosts were very pleasant.
My room overlooked the Main Road, so traffic noise was an issue late at night and early in morning

Breakfast was good. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the city centre. The people who look after it are absolutely lovely.
It's across from a hospital on a busy road. The bed was not comfy. The pillows were lumpy and the shower had no power and didn't get hot.

Good food great couple

Value for money, it’s tip top which includes a good choice for breakfast.
Room 2 Bathroom fan never goes off, the light also has a mind of it’s own and the shower wasn’t the best.
4.2
The cooked breakfast was exceptional, freshly cooked with quality ingredients and lots of it.
The room was of a generous size and was nice and clean.
Prospective guests should be aware that the Kirk Lea is in a very busy main road location, [a main access into Halifax from the M62 and Huddersfield] opposite the hospital and on a traffic-light controlled road junction. There is traffic noise, particularly if you have a room at the front, my choice was to either put with that or to close the windows to find that it quickly became stuffy - it was very warm during my stay.
Light sleepers are advised to request a room at the back!
The furniture and fixtures were a little dated but the bed was comfortable.
Parking is not 'on-site' but in an adjacent side street, guests compete with local residents for the available spaces. This wasn't a problem during my stay but I anticipate that it could be if there were other guests, or if I had arrived later when the locals had returned from work. It is normally time limited for non-locals but a parking permit is supplied.
