Familar place.
Avoid room 18, really noisy fans outside the window, kept us up all night. Nobody on site to help during the night, no responses from staff.
3.5
Nice food in evening
great location, parking included
plenty of room to eat
really nice staff
Room 18 is noisy due to kitchen fans in the early morning.
No one checked TV, so of curse the remote didn't work.
The evening meal delivered the worst cappuccino I have ever been presented with. i should have demanded a refund

Avoid room 18 at all costs as it is not possible to sleep in it due to noise from kitchen/bar extraction fans all very loud all night.
No staff on site at night, I rang the bell at reception for several minutes, tried phoning. No responses at all.
We were so upset we decided to skip the included breakfast, we were so tired from all the noise.
Made a complaint, several days later still waiting on response.

The sheets seemed clean but didn’t dare look at the quilt or pillows inside!!
The staff were friendly and attentive.
The room was very out dated and needed redecorating and renewed, the paper on the ceiling was falling off. We had a slug that appeared in the middle of the night, the bathroom was dirty and the towels smelt. Getting to the room was a challenge lots of rickety stairs.
The bed didn’t have a headboard and there were stains on the wall. The “continental ‘ breakfast was just cereal and white bread. They had run out of any fresh items for the cooked breakfast.

Breakfast was great really good
Bar was noisy very late
3.5
Good pub style accommodation. Creaky old place but the atmosphere is relaxed and all the staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
Bit of a hike up to the higher rooms but no problem if your knees are up to it.

Good selection at breakfast. Cereal, yogurt, toast, full english, tea and coffee.
Good location for one night stay.
In need of refurb, both the communal areas and rooms which were dated.

The bathroom was a mess the hot tap dripped the wall paper was hanging the room was too small for a double bed and a single bed. We will not be booking again.

Whole building could do with modernising

Really lovely stay, the hotel itself needs a updating but it was clean, the staff were exceptional and the breakfasts were very good.
As mentioned, it does need updating but was very comfortable.

Amazing value for money, breakfast had everything you could want including full English.
Very clean, white bedding. Comfortable bed.
Very dated decor throughout.

Quirky with a decent sized bedroom and en-suite
carpets in the entrance and bar were well worn.

This is one of my favorite hotels. It's a perfect stopover on the way to the west country. Its a bit tired, but clean with big comfy rooms and excellent staff.

Breakfast was average with a limited selection. Location of the Hotel was great.
The food could be better for the price.

Ease of booking in and good parking facilities.
Staff friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome during our stay.

Room warm and bed very comfortable
Net curtains on bedroom window could do with replacing but didn't spoil our stay in any way !

We arrived a little early for check in but they allowed us to check in straight away, as I was travelling with my elderly father who has mobility issues this help him have a little rest straight away! I had contact them before we checked in and ask for a room as close to stairs as possible as I knew place didn't have lift! This was done after a few emails with Laura. The room was as I requested and my Dad was comfortable and enjoyed his stay. Breakfast a lovely choice of hot and cold food and plenty of choice drinks as well, there menu for rest of the day had plenty of choices and the extra discount of 20% off food as staying was a great touch! My room was a little further away but again a lovely good size clean room with a excellent size clean bathroom and mustn't forget the comfortable bed. The staff where incredible kind and nothing to much trouble for any of them! My Dad was so impressed and when he offered a little tip to staff for all the kindness they showed to him they refused which was lovely of them! My Dad wants to go back soon as we can arrange it as he not been away for over five years and he loss my mother a few weeks back and he had mixed thoughts about going away anywhere ever again but this little break has given him a new zest for life! Thank you all
Nothing! you need to take into account it's an old building and things like air conditioning isn't possible and there are a lot of steps to some rooms. Only disappointment for my Dad he enjoyed a steak on his first evening but as it was off the menu the following two evenings as Easter they didn't have a further deliveries which is understandable and of course they can never know what people are going to order.

First room (12) no mirror near hairdryer second room (27) had mirror.
Bed in this room comfortable, but black mould on inside window frames.
Found getting out of shower/bath quite dangerous due to it being slippery. At breakfast we found dirty cups and glasses ,obviously not been cleaned properly. Cut short our visit by one day.

Lovely location, value for money, staff were pleasant and helpful
Nothing!
3.5
The location. The 20% discount at the pub for guests. I had dinner there both nights.
The woman serving breakfast refused breakfast service to a couple that walked into the restaurant 2-3 minutes after 9:00 on Friday, Jan 6, stating that breakfast stopped serving at 9:00. I thought that was quite rude and professionally unaccommodating. She did suggest that they could still get coffee.
If I was treated that way, it would be the last time I would ever stay at that establishment.
3.5
The staff and the owners were very accommodating.
Nothing to dislike as you get your moneys worth.
