Charming Boutique Hotel

Old boutique hotel with lots of charm, excellently located within the fort. Lovely garden and grounds located at the rear. We were the only guests there so it was very peaceful.

Lovely space that needs a little more care and attention to detail .

These are just comments that we felt needed addressing - orchard house is lovely and we enjoyed our stay ! We arrived to find the men looking after the orchard house watching tv- I am unsure if this room with the books and tv were for guest use . Our room was very charming but very little attention to detail - the lamp didn’t work - huge spider and cockroaches residing ! Most surfaces were a little dusty and unclean . The mosquito net was musty and unwashed with lots of rips / holes . The listing needs to be changed as orchard house does not offer a restaurant as stated - so no evening meal option . We didn’t mind as plenty of options in the fort - but it was a shame you were unable to buy / request a coffee or a cold drink . Breakfast was very nice . Odd the Christmas tree was still up in the entrance hall ! Feel Orchard house is slightly over priced .

Nice

Very refreshing to have a pool to cool off in. Location was great, right in the centre of the fort. Bed was comfy. Lovely old building and traditional style decor, could do with a little touch up in places. Nice breakfast in the garden.

GALLE ... tappa imperdibile di un viaggio in SRI LANKA

abbiamo soggiornato a fine gennaio 2024 e siamo soddisfatti della scelta fatta, in zona centrale ma silenziosa della città vecchia, palazzo antico ristrutturato con poche camere e un giardino interno affascinante, colazione buona, staff gentile e disponibile, puoi visitare a piedi città vecchia e passeggiare lungo le mura osservando la gente o aspettando il tramonto, puoi anche scendere in spiaggia e fare il bagno. Nessun problema per mangiare, ci sono ristoranti e caffè per tutte le tasche, io consiglio il PUNTO CAFFE si mangia bene e non si spende molto ma attenzione perché ha pochi tavoli.

Le camere sono piccole e ricevono poca luce, i mobili antichi scuri le rendono un po' dark, sarebbe necessario rinfrescare i muri e risolvere il problema delle macchie di umidità presenti in alcuni punti della stanza.

It was a nice stay.

The garden is beautiful and full of little birds and things to watch. It was a highlight of the stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located but still quiet.

Sadly, there was a power cut in much of the Galle Fort area which also affected the hotel our first time. Of course, this was out of the control of the hotel. Still, they were very considerate to give us a discount for that night. We really appreciated this small touch as of course it was quite unpleasant to have a night without AC or fan.

Belle demeure coloniale.

Charmant demeure coloniale hollandaise, très bien réhabilitée. Belle petite piscine dans le jardin où il fait bon se rafraîchir des avant l'excellent petit déjeuner. Belle chambre et belle literie. Chambre fraîche. Nous n'avons pas utilisé l'air conditionné. Très bien situé dans la vieille ville de Galle. Hautement recommandable.

Loved the experience, would've stayed longer if we had the chance.

Staff was superb, and the food they served was absolutely marvellous. Had never heard of the delicacies they served us for lunch and breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality and taste! Scrumptious to say the least!

Mosquitos, but they can really do much about it except mosquito nets and repellent coils - wasn't always sufficient.

Lovely property in the heart of Galle Fort - thoroughly recommended.

Orchard House is a gem in Galle Fort. It has a beautiful, lush garden courtyard and breakfast/seating area, and a pool with loungers for when the heat becomes too much. The staff are absolutely excellent - nothing is too much trouble, at any time of day. The place is furnished like a private home and we felt extremely relaxed and at home here.

The bedroom decor could do with some maintenance, as the paint is flaking off the walls in places. For stays of more than 2 nights, a bit more variety in the breakfast offering would be appreciated.

Great place to stay in a lovely part of Sri Lanka

A magnificent old Dutch colonial house set around an internal garden with a lovely daybed outside and a beautiful plunge pool. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious!

There were few surfaces in the room to put our belongings on, but for the table between the beds which had a lamp on it.

Great stay for a family with kids but for couples too

The acco is really central located in Galle with a very nice pool. Great breakfast presented every morning with fresh fruits, eggs, bread. Very nice staff, very helpful.we stayed 3 nights with our 3 kids in 2 rooms

Refused card payment, and needs a thorough clean but has alot of potential

Location - Galle Fort is a lovely town with Orchard House in the heart of it Excellent drinks prices, and when they didn't have what we wanted they went out to stock Despite not offering tea/coffee in the room, all we had to do was ask and it was brought easily and without extra cost

The beds have a mosquito net around and the roof/ceiling was absolutely filthy. We also found a birds nest in the wardrobe and the host just smiled and laughed. On our final day we had requested a sri lankan breakfast, the tuna curry wasn't edible and there were Ants crawling out of the Sambol. The pool area is very small and didn't offer anywhere to sunbathe or really sit, the chairs were rusted. Very annoyingly as booking.com states they accept card payment, they refused and we had to get cash which we hadn't planned for. Within the pictures of the property there are pictures of a beach. That isn't a local beach. There aren't any notable beaches nearby so felt that was lying about location

Serenity in the heart of Galle Fort

The ambience was excellent. A real colonial feel to the place. The staff were great, and skates on hand if needed. Rooms were small but well thought out. Plenty of hot water! Pool was great as was the pavilion where we had breakfast. Perfect location to Pedler Street and the restaurants/shops.

A beautiful hotel in a great area!

I loved my stay here, there are 4 bedrooms in this beautiful property in the middle of Galle Fort area. The courtyard is so lovely to relax in and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely too.

Fabulous

Beautiful oasis in the middle of Galle Fort, this place was a gem. Old world charm with a restful feel, great to come back to the cool, beautiful gardens and pool after hot sightseeing. The rooms were spotless and beds comfortable with nice thick towels. The staff were unobtrusive but attentive and there when you needed them. A lovely breakfast of fruit, toast and eggs is served in the lovely garden. It’s situated right in the middle of the town, step out the door into all the action. Highly recommended.

It could have done with being a little cleaner. Some of the furniture in the communal areas needed replacing. Our room was a bit too small, the beds were big which left very little room to put suitcases and to walk around the beds

The only good things about this hotel were the staff who were helpful and laid on a good breakfast.

Good breakfast and location

The fellow guests were sloppy, did not expect them to hang their bath towels on the furniture in the common areas. There were a lot of mosquitos, some effort should have been made to deal with this. There was lovely furniture but arranged in a chaotic way. The room was tiny. There was no space to open a suitcase.

Could have been a little cleaner. Overall a bit more love and care for the property was missing. The furniture was too bulky which made the small room even smaller.
